Video has emerged showing the recent hit-and-run death of a retired police chief in Las Vegas in what police are calling an intentional attack by the teenage driver.

Andreas Probst, 64, was fatally struck on August 14 while cycling in northwest Las Vegas, where he had retired after stepping down as the police chief of Bell, California, in 2009.

The 17-year-old driver, whose name was not released by police due to his age, was arrested soon after the crash and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Late last month, police said charges against the driver would be upgraded to include an open murder count, after investigators discovered video indicating the driver intentionally struck Probst, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

On Saturday, video circulated widely on social media and drew outraged reactions, showing the driver ask 'ready?' and the passenger, who was filming, laughing as he replies 'yeah, hit his a**.'

A visual analysis of the video by DailyMail.com confirms that it shows the same location where Probst was killed, on a stretch of North Tenaya Way, near West Centennial Parkway.

There has been no word of charges against the passenger who filmed the fatal crash and seemingly encouraged the driver to go through with it.

A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Saturday.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, a clip of the video was shared by actor James Woods, who commented: 'They stole a car and murdered a perfectly innocent man for laughs. When will it end? And more importantly how will it end?'

Fox News commentator Greg Gutfeld compared the imagery to an ISIS beheading video, writing: 'a public execution. filmed. we need new leadership that sees that the new threat of terror is within, and put an end to this reign of evil.'

The fatal hit-an-run occurred at around 6am, while Probst was on his morning ride.

Police say a 2016 Hyundai Elantra struck him from the rear and fled the scene at high speed. Probst was rushed to University Medical Center, where he was confirmed dead.

The suspected driver of the Elantra was arrested later the same day, and police say he was associated with the theft of several other vehicles that morning.

The 17-year-old accused killer has not been named by police due to his status as a juvenile.

Probst is seen in a family photo. He took up cycling for exercise after starting a remote job in security consulting after retiring from law enforcement

Probst had a 35-year career in law enforcement in California, including as police chief of Bell, an unincorporated city in Los Angeles County.

He retired in 2009 and moved to Las Vegas, where he had a remote job for a security consulting firm, and took up cycling as a way to stay in shape.

His daughter, Taylor Probst, told the Review-Journal that she received an alert from her dad's Apple Watch indicating that he'd fallen on the morning of August 14.

She rushed with her mother, Crystal, to the crash scene, which was only three miles from their home.

By the time they arrived, Probst had already been transported to a hospital, but the signs left behind were grim.

'I come from law enforcement as well in my younger days,' Crystal told the newspaper. 'I was able to ascertain, there's his bike, his helmet is way over there, his phone is way over there. I'm like, this is not good.'

Cops from multiple local jurisdictions were also in attendance to pay respects.

'He was an amazing man, a husband,' Andreas's wife Crystal said at the memorial event, according to KLAS-TV. 'A father, a brother.'

'He was honestly like a ray of sunshine that just bled through your life,' said daughter Taylor.

Last year, 14 cyclists were killed on the roads of Clark County, which includes Las Vegas, in addition to 72 pedestrians who were fatally struck, according to state data.

According to the most recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 966 bicyclists were killed nationwide in traffic crashes in 2021, marking a 40-year high.

How can those jurnoscum live with themselves?

Here we have a blatant example of two "people" who are just out to cause pain and death just for shits and giggles. Nothing means anything to them but of course the fucking jurnoscum have to run cover for these niggers. Can't let the normies know they're black, can't let the info drop that they weren't just out for a joyride...in a fucking stolen car.

Oh it was a "bike accident" not a deliberate murder via car for absolutely no reason but the sheer thrill.

oh it was just some "teenagers" being silly little kids....kids that deliberately decided to run someone down and kill them.

fuck...the day of the rope needs to come soon. These fuckers need to pay for all the shit they pull in the name of progressivism..

Those damn racist conservatives refuse to blame cars!

Responses like these really prove how evil and self-centered these people really are. Guy gets mowed down for no reason and the first thing they worry about, is hypothetical people hating them.

They never grasp the point that if there would be no story to "hijack" if they didn't do the crime to begin with.

We should give them swimming lessons with cement shoes on Lake Mead.
Everyone thinks kids can be rehabilitated and whatever, but let me give some straight truth from someone fully retarded but old enough to know a few things.

There is good and evil. And these niggers will never do better.

You can waste thousand of dollars on these kids and they will never do better. I’ve seen so many kids like this given second chances and they never do better.

Put a bullet in them and film it. Blast it on tictok. It’s the only way these niggers will learn.

I feel like that is one of the big picture problems we are facing right now. America has become by all definitions, too fat and comfortable. People became so comfortable not having a looming threat of war or something that they began to forget that evil even exists and that some people will want to destroy good things simply because they are evil.

Absolutely nothing will happen; both of these things should get the death penalty for flat out murder. Nothing will happen because if it does, BLM will burn the country down again and worship these two like they did with St. Floyd, gold casket and all. What happened to this guy on the bike is horrendous and also what happens when you let something (or two somethings in this case) out of the zoo.

One of the best decisions I made tbh. Where I used to live is now firmly under progressive control and they've been pushing to fuck with zoning so they can redesignate single family areas as section 8 bullshit. Crime has steadily been increasing since inner city blacks and Mexican cholos started spreading into the suburbs. The ones I worked with were all loud, arrogant, lazy Shaneequa types who were belligerently leftist and were all con artists to some degree.

Now I only work with one, and he's more of a southern redneck black than an urban black, dude makes some really good deer jerky. It's like a night and day difference when you find the ones who were just raised as one of the guys and not preloaded with the victim mentality.
Yeah one of my best friends is a black redneck, guy wears confederate flag stuff on his clothes, drives a pick up truck, loves hunting and bass fishing. He is also one of the few black people I met who was raised in a stable home with two hardworking parents, his mom was a nurse and his dad was a logger.

A juvenile might result in a 10 year sentence if he's lucky, but given the very justified public outrage over this I'm betting this will be moved to adult court.
I mean, 17 is pretty close to 18, so I can only hope.

Also, they killed a retired cop, I would hope that would motivate the DA to try for a harsher sentence, especially with such irrefutable video evidence.

It's been years ago now, but there was a time where "youths" would do something akin to a street take over, but just run around and beat up all the people outside of their homes.

UPDATE MAY 23: A group of bikers is taking to the streets, hoping to make a difference after a mom was attacked by a group of kids.
The bikers took their message to kids walking by near Ft. Apache and Elkhorn, urging them to stay away from violence and peer pressure.

This comes after neighbors have been concerned about groups of kids causing trouble. The problem is getting so bad that some residents are afraid to leave their homes.
The groups were out in the neighborhood Wednesday and will be back out again Thursday.
UPDATE MAY 21: The mother who was attacked on cell phone video last month is speaking out for the first time.
"I want everybody to know what's going on," said mom Christl Lestelle.

Lestelle helped to organize a community event near the site of the attack Monday. Days after the attack, she says her son still doesn't feel safe.
"His friends can't even come over because... people are threatening to kill him," she said.
Lestelle said the incident occurred after she confronted the kids about a stolen bike. On Monday afternoon, a group of about 50 concerned neighbors were on scene speaking with patrol officers.
"Everybody I know is concerned about that video they saw on YouTube," said Lt. Troy Barrett.
According to Lt. Barrett, arrests were made in Lestelle's case before the video surfaced. He says police are investigating and searching for other potential offenders.
"This community has done a pretty good job of getting some video," said Lt. Barrett, "...we're taking that video and looking at it and trying to identify faces and names."

Lt. Barrett says there will be plainclothes officers in the area to confirm the different accounts of parents.
ORIGINAL: A Las Vegas mother is attacked by a group of kids outside her home near Fort Apache and Elkhorn roads.
"It's insane, this group of kids is 12," said Jon Harriss.
Harriss's wife is seen being beaten in cell phone video. He says the incident happened last month.
Neighbors tell 13 Action News this is not an isolated incident.
They say they've had trouble with a group of kids from a nearby middle school for months. We're told some of the incidents happen on campus. Others occur off campus as the children are walking home.
"They will swarm your house, they will swarm you in your car," said Harriss, "cursing you out, throwing rocks at you."

Cell phone video shows rocks being hurled at neighbors.
Harriss says one girl was briefly detained by police after his wife was attacked. However, he says she was back to trouble the very next morning.
"Everyday we watch them walk away from the police and get back to doing exactly what they were doing before," said Harriss.
The Phillips family believes the children's school should do more. Eric Phillips is a teacher with the district.
"The school can certainly suspend these kids, they can investigate," said Phillips, "they can help the children that are innocent and are feeling afraid to go to school."
Harriss says he has pulled out two of his children from the middle school. Harriss says his children are being harassed by the group of kids.
Harriss's wife has recovered from her injuries. Neighbors say if something doesn't change they fear someone could be hurt more seriously next time.

"There's people out there that are not as patient and are going to do something very irrational to these kids," he said.
13 Action News reached out to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for comment. We are waiting to hear back.
Meanwhile, school police tell us they are aware of this issue. They say they've worked with LVMPD officers to flood the area with police. They believe the situation is under control but parents disagree.
13 Action News will continue to follow any developments. Parents will reach out to us regarding potential incidents in the future.

I'm not gonna make an emperical claim; but joggers get off light if possible. Also, you'd figure Nevada would be a red state (and it is, mostly). The problem being, Las Vegas is the biggest city in the state, and deep blue.
