LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — WARNING: The attached video contains violence and strong language. Viewer discretion is advised.

A Las Vegas judge was attacked during a sentencing hearing on Wednesday -- and the incident was captured on video.

Deobra Redden swore at Judge Mary Kay Holthus as she handed down the sentence, then jumped over the bench and lunged at her.

Redden was scheduled to be sentenced for a charge of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm. Before the attack, a prosecutor said Redden had a history of violent crimes and asked for a prison term. Past charges include home invasion, domestic violence and battery on a protected person.

Speaking on his own behalf, Redden said he was "in a better place in my mind," had a better support system and had a new job.

"I feel like I shouldn't be sent to prison, but if it's appropriate for you, then you gotta do what you gotta do," he said.

Redden's attorney also argued for a suspended sentence, citing previous completions of probation programs, his mental health history and his background.

"I appreciate that, but I think it's time that he get a taste of something else," Holthus responded. "Because I just can't with that history."

That's when Redden swore at Holthus, jumped over the bench and leapt onto the judge, leading to a melee as he attacked her. A man next to Holthus and a court marshal both tried to hold Redden back and subdue him.

"Hey, get off her. Get off her. Don't do this!" someone yells.

Several people eventually started to hit Redden to get him to stop, though much of the response took place off-camera. Holthus can be heard yelling out during the attack, as well.

"Is she okay?" another person asks.

Someone activated an alarm and Redden could be heard yelling as people checked on Holthus. One of the court marshals can be seen holding a cloth or tissue to his head, as well.

Holthus was eventually able to stand after a few minutes, and officers escorted her out of the courtroom before ordering all other defendants out.

News 3 was told a marshal was taken to a hospital for examination, as well as Holthus. Both are expected to be okay. \

Police later said a criminal investigation is currently being conducted.

Why do they take so long to help the judge? Like they already got one guy restraining the hoodlum, why not take 5 seconds to drag the judge away before delivering a dose of TND? You would think the protocol for a chimpout like this is to have one guy restrain the thug and the other guy toss the judge aside to safety before deploying anti-negro weaponry.

And why does nobody have a taser? Where's P. Barnes to save the day?
You want to be the white guy on camera laying into a future doctor? No thanks, eat your beating.

Attempted murder? I knew they were going to throw the book at this guy but holy shit they're throwing the biggest one they can find.
I kinda expected the rest of the charges and basically a max sentence for pretty much all of it. Attempted murder? They're throwing Libraries. Someone's Everyone's pissed at this guy. Dude jumped over the wrong bench.

When you get someone to the floor and then try to stamp on their head repeatedly, which the video makes it look like he was trying to do even when we could not see the judge, attempted murder seems accurate.

Shame they do not charge more such blatant attempts thusly, he is catching this charge because of who he did it to not what he did.

Not the wrong bench, a bench. The legal system does not want anybody to get any ideas from this guy.

I love how his sister just wrote it off as an "chemical imbalance" like it's an everyday occurrence in Vegas.

I think it's been at least a decade since any nigger in any high profile legal hearing just said "I did it, I wish I did not do it and I regret the harm I caused" even that nigger that took video while he and his accomplice ran over/killed the old man on the bicycle, his mother was quoted "he dindo nuffin" Incidentally that was also in Vegas. As I said in my previous post anyone who is sentenced by a judge wants to get at them, the only difference is he acted on this impulse. Now as far as I know he cannot sink a 3-pointer so I'm guessing he's going to be made an example of and plea bargain to 10 years for the Judge assault alone. My understanding is the current charge is attempted murder, obviously I am not an attorney but, I've always been surprised to see people get the attempted murder charge for an assault. I suppose it's the video that really nails it home.

It's kind of common for them to stack on several charges onto an incident in the hopes that the guy would just cave in; plus, it also doubles as an contingency if one of the other charges gets thrown out
