Last Image You Saved - we all know it's hentai

Did you edit out the question about You're Under Arrest?

And I agree. There was something very celebratory of the triumph of man in Art Deco, Idealistic almost. Two World Wars and the Cold War knocked a lot of that out of Western cultures.

Totally did because by the time I had typed it up, I'd found it. The browser cached the words. The clue was the motocompo. Stumbled on Psycho-Pass in the process which is probably the better anime.

There's something, some sort of geist in the 30s futurism. I can almost taste it some days when I look at the architecture in shit like mid century highway overpasses. I feel it culminated with stuff like Falling Water but gave use electrolux canister vacuums and willy's Jeep in the process.

They are very different animes, but the OVA for You're Under Arrest is a good time. The first season of Psycho-Pass is pretty damned good, after that it's meh.

It's weird when you think about, because of the Great Depression, but I feel like there's this sense of Shit's Bad, but The Future Will Be Bright. Somewhere along the way we forgot that and everything feels utilitarian and sterile now, where it's not stupid.

I feel like we have forgotten this entire facet of the early 1900s and only remember the Grapes of Wrath bits. The empire state building had an Airship dock, after all. There was definitely a sense of optimism and hope for the future. I don't think it's any coincidence modern sci fi came into its own around then.

The 30s saw the normalization of radio, heavier-than-air flight and skyscrapers. The future was going to be impossible, dreamlike and like Neoclassical as seen after a night of drinking. OIP.RUIlR0qdXoc_LcZ9_Hb4wwHaFY.jpeg
