She just doesn't have enough of that William's 'look' to me. Usually I can spot a Williams kid fairly easily. Is it like Treacher Collins in that the severity can vary? She looks exactly like her mother save the weird dolphin teeth. Also, would this be something her mother never picked up on or is it something a doctor would clock a mile away at a wellness visit?
One of the things you have to be aware of is that either she or her mom is heavily photoshopping their photos. I looked at all of them and I had to go back quite a ways to get to some that weren’t edited so much.
Williams Syndrome is based on a collection of 28 deleted genes on the long arm of chromosome 7. It is usually a spontaneous mutation, but can actually be passed down in autosomal dominant pattern.
Her pre-diabetes as a teen is one thing that really tipped me over the edge in thinking this, along with some other clues. Her high school in one of her resumes lists Keystone High School. There is no Keystone High School in New York. There is an online/correspondence high school (the Keystone School) located in PA, which her mom claims she graduated from in January.
She states that her parents were immigrants in one post, but that she was born in America. Working to verify that, but it is definitely possible that a pediatrician could miss something like this. Pediatricians rely heavily on parental input and claims of development and just get a brief amount of time with kids. The incidence of Williams Syndrome is about 1:20,000 so not all that rare, but some people with WS may have additional mutation that cause additional features. It is also possible that she has part of the deletion on the long arm of 7 and not the entire deletion which could result in a less dramatic facial presentation. But again, her mom or she is heavily photoshopping her.
I'm pretty convinced of it too. As a child she looks like the blonde version of a kid I used to work with at day camp who had it - the eyes, the cheeks, the mouth, everything.
Obviously we can't diagnose everyone just by looking at photos and videos of them, but some disorders come with a very distinctive facial appearance.
If she didn't have significant delays in development (e.g. the kid I worked with was still non-verbal at 5 years old) then maybe not. Do we know if she was home schooled? Laur seems like the type, limit her daughter's independence etc.
Oh creepy, I just thought of Lillee's obsession with Rapunzel, and Laur being Mother Gothel keeping her locked up in the tower attic.
I’ve been collecting a little cache of information on this for the past week. I’m not quite ready to drop everything I’ve found. This lady Laura (Laur) is an idiot and literally everything about them is available on the internet. Yes, she was homeschooled. She allegedly graduated in January from the Keystone school, an online high school out of PA. I am questioning how much help she had from mommy dearest, but I’m still collecting info.
Edit to Add: Williams Syndrome kids don’t necessarily have a heavy delay in speech development. Sometimes they can even have only very mild delays in things that affect spatial reasoning, math, etc. Sometimes it can result in severe learning disabilities, but often I’ve seen very verbiose, outgoing, talkative kids.
