For those unaware, here is a simplified timeline with links to posts.
- Nikandros makes a video going over Nux Taku's past content and his Patreon server with minors interacting with NSFW content.
- Some people ask Leaflit about her opinion on the topic. Leaflit declares she doesn't know about it, but she's pretty sure and guesses it's dumb and there are misunderstandings. In the same clip, she says she now doesn't care and doesn't want to get involved.
- On Twitter, Nikandros would ask Leaflit if she wanted to talk about it.
- Leaflit doesn't directly respond to Nikandros, but she makes response tweets about the clip of her that was previously mentioned.
- Though Nikrandros would quote tweet her response, to which Leaflit would call him dumb.
- Leaflit would make more tweets doubling down on her previous statements. She would not respond to people who posted evidence of misconduct happening in Nux's server.
- Due to this, Twitter users would uncover that in Leaflit's de facto Discord server, the rules would imply minors are allowed in it. There was an NSFW channel locked behind a role, and NSFW topics were discussed outside of it.
- Another clip of Leaflit where she talks about the Nux Taku situation alongside Tectone's as well. She attempts to frame it as a left vs right cultural war issue and implies "the leftists" are out to get them.
- Nikandros would make a Twitter post detailing incidents of minors engaging in NSFW topics in Leaflit's Discord server.
- Leaflit would post a video of "finally addressing it." Spoiler alert; she doesn't. @Doxed would post the video of Leaflit's response alongside clips from it.
- Harmful Opinions would post a video critiquing Leaflit's lackluster response, and he would go through Leaflit's Discord. Someone from Leafit's server advocates others to mass report Harmful Opinions' video for "harassment and bullying."
- In Harmful Opinions' video, he talks about an individual who sent "thigh pics" to a minor. After HO's video, many people in Leaflit's server would respond. Including a moderator who implied the minor was actually the groomer and the adult was the victim. Eventually, the person who sent the thigh pics would get banned, and the minor also got banned as well.
- Harmful Opinions would make a video responding to this.
- A clip compilation of old Twitch clips from Leaflit's channel was made. Among these clips is one where Leaflit's model has a pacifier. Additionally, a post shows that Leafit's mother, Asari, is the server owner for the Discord. Leaflit's previous Discord server being uncovered gets a mention as well.
- Harmful Opinions would post his third video covering Leaflit. He goes over responses made against him, mainly by Momma Occo and others. During a stream, Leaflit hop in for an interview with Occo. Harmful would cover that.
- Leaflit's server would begin a big lockdown. During the lockdown, some members advocated for the mass false reporting of Harmful Opinions' videos.
- A clip of Momma Occo stating he was told the reason why minors were allowed in Leaflit's server was because they didn't want them to be in servers with trans people and trans ideology and so that Leaflit's server could "educate the kids better."
- Eventually, Leaflit would appoint a manager for her Discord server. Alongside that, reform happened with the server. The NSFW channel being removed and there now being an 18+ rule. The server was also locked down to new users, who have to be whitelisted in order to see all the channels.
- Harmful Opinions would post his last Leaflit video about this new change.
- On March 7th, 5 days after HO's last video, the YouTuber Remnant777 would post a video about Leaflit. This video is from the point of view of someone who considers themselves to be a fan of Leaflit.
- On March 19th, Leaflit posts the "I gave up" video.
- A 2014 reupload of an old video by Shurelia (Leaflit) suddenly gets a DMCA takedown. This video shows the real-life face of Leaflit from many years ago.
- The Reddit AI Avengers declare their support for Leaflit and declare war against her ambiguous and supposed betrayers.
I notice there is some misinformation being spread, perhaps done intentionally, or it's just people being ignorant. Here are some of it that I will refute.
The people such as Nikandros, Harmful Opinions, Remnant777, and others' primary goal is NOT to "cancel, harass, life ruination, and doxing" of Leaflit. Despite there being some people falsely claiming that as a strawman to poison the well. Some people really need to understand that criticism made in good faith doesn't equal harassment or a cancel campaign.
Leaflit isn't trans, and she wasn't born as a man. She is female, and I believe the confusion about it is because of her voice. It has been speculated that Leaflit is intersex, which is something totally different from being trans.
Leaflit is currently 40 years old, and she has been making videos since 2007. Ethnically she is Asian American, alongside her mother.
Leaflit never directly groomed anyone, that was never the point of the criticism against her. Anybody saying this doesn't know what they are talking about. They are intentionally lying or being grossly ignorant. All the notable people, such as Nikrandros, Harmful Opinions, Remnant77, and others, never implied or made this allegation.
The claim that Leaflit didn't own or moderate the Discord server is false and overrelies on a nitpick. The nitpick is because the Discord isn't directly owned by Leaflit's Discord account, therefore, it's not her server. But guess what account is labeled as the server owner? Leaflit's mother, Asari. In a de facto sense, the Discord server was owned by Leaflit. Both she and her mother directly intervened in moderating actions; the server is the direct successor to a previous Discord server that was clearly owned and operated by Leaflit; the Discord server is directly connected to Leaflit's Patreon; the server has Leaflit's branding, and it has the reputation of belonging to her.
Leaflit isn't a Nazi, Fascist, Racist, Bigot, or whatever smear dishonest people such as Bint or mainly other far-left people have said about her. These labels are quite bizarre to accuse Leaflit of being, as someone who has looked into Leaflit, she isn't or hasn't been any of those things at all. Leaflit, especially in her past, was very progressive and left-wing. Leaflit is bisexual and has admitted to dating a woman, and alongside that, she made many vocal expressions of support for the LGBT community in the past. And yes, current Leaflit has shifted rightwards politically, but despite that, she is still definitely not far-right at all.
Leaflit's mother, Asari, likely isn't connected to a certain PornHub account that enjoys trans content. The account shared the exact same username Asari had, and this username is a previous one of Asari and not her current one. The only connection is the username, and it hasn't been confirmed if it's owned by Asari. In Harmful Opinions' video, he mentions how he spoke to Momma Occo and asked about this. According to him, they deny the account belongs to Asari's mother. It's likely a coincidence, unless there is evidence without a doubt definitely proving a connection, but this hasn't happened.
Now, I would like to point to the actual points of the criticism against Leaflit.
Leaflit's initial reaction to the Nux Taku video.
Leaf's initial response was very awfully flawed. The way she worded it and her attitude during it gave an impression of dismissive ignorance and a lack of neutrality. When she said, "I'm going to guess it's very stupid. The drama is probably dumb, a lot of misunderstandings, my guess." This was interpreted by some as her downplaying the whore ordeal by making a simplified conclusion, despite not knowing the context whatsoever. Then afterward, she says she "doesn't care" and says she doesn't want to get involved anymore, despite her just then caring by making a guess. That came off very ignorant and dismissive, and she should have worded her initial statement better, and if she had, then this whole drama may have easily been entirely avoided.The double down on Twitter.
The double down was entirely unnecessary to do. She very well could have ignored it, but she decided to talk about it on Twitter. It's especially strange since she previously stated she "doesn't care" and doesn't want to get involved. But here we are, and she is getting involved by doubling down on Twitter. And again, she doesn't know the context for the video and is making simplified conclusions despite not watching the video. The whole way she handled it shouldn't have happened; it would have been so much better had she just said nothing.The mishandling of the Discord server.
Now, this is by far the biggest main point against Leaflit, far more than her reaction to the Nux video. Allowing minors into your Discord server when adult and NSFW topics are discussed is such an awful idea. And the reasoning for this is so bizarre. According to the clip of Momma Occo, the reason why Leaflit's server had an open-door policy for minors is so that they won't go to servers with transgenders or with trans ideology. Meanwhile, Leaflit's server had open lolicons, gooners, and femboy chasers, and that seems to be considered as fine. Minors shouldn't be interacting with those types of people or content at all.That is not all; in the server, there was an NSFW channel for porn, which is very strange, but this channel did require a role to access it. The process of gaining the role appeared to be quite easy, as it was only a simple question by a mod asking if you're over 18. Thankfully, there don't seem to be any confirmed instances of minors being in that channel, unlike Nux Taku's server, which had over 6 confirmed cases of minors being in a porn channel. Even so, the existence of the NSFW channel is quite bizarre and unnecessary, especially for a VTuber who has a reputation for being a Christian.
As shown in Harmful Opinion's video and Nikandros' Twitter posts. There were discussions of inappropriate topics in the server when minors were directly present or involved. There was the one specific case of the minor receiving "thigh pics" from an adult member of the server. Eventually they were both banned, but this is clearly a sign to just ban minors outright from a Discord server. The lack of a no minors rule in Leaflit's server was such a mistake. And no, it's not "harassment" or "cancel culture" to point this out and critique this and request improvement. Eventually it happened: the server had a rework, the NSFW channel was removed, and there was a rule that explicitly stated it's an 18+ server.
There is a lot more about the server, which you can learn more about from Harmful Opinions' videos. This section is going on for long enough, but there is one more thing I would like to address before ending it off. A common defense for the Discord server was this: "Uhm, ackchyually, Leaflit isn't the owner, and the server doesn't belong to her, and she doesn't control it!
" But this is incorrect on so many levels. In a de facto sense it was her server, and guess the account that had the server owner tag, it was Leaflit's mother, Asari, from the YouTube channel Leaflit and Asari! That isn't all; Leaflit's Patreon server was directly connected to the server, and there were Patreon only channels. Both Leaflit and her mother both had administrator powers and intervened in moderating actions, as shown in HO's video. The server had Leaflit's branding and the reputation of belonging to her. The server is directly a successor to Leaflit's previous server of Shurelia's Monster Girl Shelter. By all accounts, it was her server! It was so laughable the downplayers actually thought this was remotely good enough to use as a gotcha to excuse all responsibility Leaflit had for running a Discord server.The hypocrisy of Leaflit being Christian.
This issue was covered fairly well by Remnant777's video, which he presented he made with good intentions. Leaflit is perceived by many people to be a Christian VTuber, even if she doesn't self-identify as one. Leaflit has reacted to videos about Christian topics, and she even has a model that sort of resembles a nun. Oh yeah, we can't forget the Bible study channel in her Discord server. So, it's very odd that she allowed an NSFW channel in the Discord server. Pornography is considered lustful by the majority of Christians, and many people found it quite hypocritical and sinful that Leaflit allowed this content in her server. In past clips, her attitude toward hentai was progressive, and she made references to it. Supporting porn and being a right-wing Christian are quite incompatible.People framing it as a political issue.
The entire criticism against Leaflit isn't due to her politics. The people who are trying to make this entire issue into a left vs right political issue are acting dishonestly by framing it that way. The "Leftists" weren't the main people that were criticizing Leaflit. Harmful Opinions, who made over 4 videos about Leaflit, isn't a leftist. Nikandros isn't a leftist, Remnant777 isn't a leftist, and many other people who have been critical of Leaflit aren't vocally leftist. This whole schizophrenic idea that it's all leftists that are harassing Leaflit because she doesn't have an 18+ rule on her Discord server? Is that what they really want to frame it as? Trying to frame those critical of Leaflit's mishandling of her Discord server as being leftists is so utterly bizarre. There is actually some criticism about Leaflit that could be considered as political. And what am I referring to? Oh yeah, it's the criticism for her Christian identity while she is pro-porn. And the people stating that criticism are right wing people!The drama being dug up once again.
Now, after Leaflit reworked her server, most people considered the drama to be mostly done for good. At least it ended on a good note that nearly everyone was pleased with. But... On March 19th, Leaflit would suddenly post the "I gave up" video where she would cry and overshare a lot of information about herself. This, in turn, caused the drama to be brought up all over again, despite it being dormant for many days. For whatever reason, she spoke to her chat as if they were her friends, and she discussed things that should have been kept private. In the video, she mentions being betrayed by many people, but she doesn't say who exactly they were and how exactly they betrayed her. So, this video then causes the Reddit AI Avengers to assemble to support Leaflit and announce it on Twitter. They want you to listen to the crying woman, support her, and, most importantly, do not ask any questions. And if you don't do this, then clearly you are one of these harassing quangos or someone that betrayed her!!!!And there was also the DMCA takedown issued by Leaflit (or someone representing her) against a video that has been up since 2014. The video in question was a reupload of an old video of Leaflit where she showed her face. This use of the DMCA to censor this video is quite questionable and should be addressed.
