I'm not exactly sure.
It's something I've seen people say before that there used to be a ton more bugs around but now there's not.
Maybe lefties are trying to make it some sort of climate issue now or something? I've never seen it made political, it's just something older folks bring up sometimes.

I mean, what with leftists complaining that there's fewer insects around, and that they sympathize with the bug monsters from Starship Troopers (to the point they insist that the hoomans are the bad guys despite all evidence to the contrary), it's pretty ironic that they constantly try to cram bugs down our throats and insist we're destroying the environment for eating beef or chicken instead.
