The best version of Soul Reaver 1 is on Dreamcast. They were given a few more months to develop the game before its release and that's why the graphics look better on Dreamcast.

I don't know who you could possibly trust today to actually add anything productive and consistent with the series's pre-existing canon.

...I mean obviously Amy isn't dead yet so you could ask her. Last thing she worked on might have been Forspoken, but judging from the way things were described behind the scenes I don't quite blame her for the way that turned out. Squeenix brought in Black Girl Gamers (script consultancy company) to fix Amy's work on the project, so god knows what she actually had in mind for it.

You could probably get Avellone involved if you want, but Avellone's favourite party trick is taking an established setting or genre and doing a very blunt interrogation of its core concepts ("Hey guys The Force is kind of cringe" "Hey guys the Fallout karma system is kind of cringe" "Hey guy the idea of playing a concrete character in Immersive Sims is kind of cringe" (Prey'17). I don't quite know how he could find a way to work that perennial angle into Legacy of Kain, when so much of the series is built around subverting assumptions.

Now it is possible that they leaned on AI to handle the workload for the project like the poojeets that did the GTA trilogy did, and they put the phrase "European Woman" in.

Quite frankly, I didn't mind that the franchise ended on LoK: Defiance. I can't trust Western developers nowadays to handle beloved franchises, let alone make original content without all of this DEI slopfest. God forbid that the next entry, if someone dares to continue the story at this point, will turn Kain into a literal emo gay vampire by the "modern audience" weirdos and their imaginary boogeymen.

The Dreamcast is what a vidya game system designed by God would look like. How did Sega get it so right?

But I hope there isn't anymore LOK ever. We know exactly what they'll do to it with their troons and fags and poofy negro love.

Exactly. And look at the changes they're already forcing on the remasters, just like the Tomb Raider remasters. A new game will be a DEI hellscape.

Exactly. And look at the changes they're already forcing on the remasters, just like the Tomb Raider remasters. A new game will be a DEI hellscape.

To be fair the only thing Aspyr did with the Tomb Raider collection was put that gay little message at the beginning of the game about how problematic it all is. They still kept in the Pacific Island section of 3 where you spend three hours shooting cannibal niggers.

Never got into kain but I was very curious about the canceled reboot/sequel that almost got finished during the PS3 era

I hadn't heard about that. That is disappointing. Imagine going out of your way to tone down a detail about the frenchman that made him sleazy and licentious. Immersion destroyed.

Glad that people are lighting a fire under the devs for these kinds of changes.

The main thing I was worried about was the Pacific Islanders getting changed or outright removed from the game, as that's easily the most Problematic component of the classic trilogy by wokeschizo standards. Well that and how many foreigners are badly voice acted by Core Design staff.

Its such an innocuous thing for them to feel the need to remove but they changed the Greek meander pattern because they saw a swastika pattern in the original.

I remember that part of the community, but in my times it were just what you'd nowadays call "gamer girls" who'd write their gay fanfiction for other gamer girls to gush about, but that type of subhuman would see sex anywhere. The games have NO romance whatsoever. BO2 had some teasing with Umah, but - as expected of Kain - his ambition was stronger than his desire. iirc the only prominent romantic couple in the franchise were Ariel and Nupraptor, and we all know what happened when the former got murdered.
