Anyone else into Hyrule Warriors? I am replaying some of the first version (switch port) and it's amazing to me that Age of Calamity reviewed so well because it's kind of a huge step back compared to the first one. The game has multiple Zeldas (instead of just BotW), the adventure mode is a standalone thing and isn't grafted onto the story, the characters are a lot more fun to play and (I understand this is a port that added 3DS content) there are literally hundreds of hours of content. How could anyone look at the sequel compared to the original and rate it like 9/10 or even 10/10? Bizarre. Not like games journalists do anything but chase trends, but still. Bizarre.

Zelda 2 is the only mainline entry I haven't played at all.

It sounds much like Castlevania II where they got a little too weird and out there.

Again, sounds like Castlevania II, pretty fun to play provided you don't have to play it like you would have in the 1980s.

I've yet to work up the patience to actually complete Castlevania II though.
Almost all of the problems Pissmaster talks about is fixed/updated in the excellent Zelda 2 Redux rom hack. Seriously, a ton of love and effort went into improving the games and its really just plays great with it.

Don't forget "I AM ERROR"
So that was bad translation and a developer joke all rolled into one. There is another character called Bagu (Japannese for Bug) that is the same model as Error just a different color. Error's name got translated, but Bagu did not.

akschully its not a sequel but a "spiritual successor" (as retarded as that sounds), that being said I agree with almost anything you say, I played the Wii U version of the original Hyrule Warriors and the "sequel" does have a ton of improvements like being able to switch characters and order them to attack, but the problem is the 3ds version included those changes and the Switch re-release also added those so Age of Calamity is only an improvement if you compare it to the original Wii U version, I would rate it an 8/10 because I honestly had fun but playing age of calamity by itself, if i had to compare it to the orignal that score would be lower

I think that's a fair assessment. I think the first thing I noticed when going back to this version of the game is that it's not at 240i (hyperbole) in handheld mode and runs far, far smoother than AoC. But I also enjoyed my time with AoC, I just wish the story had actually tried to be canon because the setting is great for a musou style game. Alas, they immediately put a time traveling little shitter in there to guarantee this plot means nothing.

agreed, I have some small hope that maybe BOTW2 will include the "sending the future champions to the past" plot point in some moment but its just 🌈 on my part. I wish Nintendo had the balls to go with the actual story, show the champions dying the war being lost, and have the game end with Link being thrown into the shrine of resurrection while the final mission is God power Zelda fighting minions to confront ganon and seal him, then maybe the adventure mode could have been a "what-if?" scenario that shows the campaign we got

I think it's wanting more lore for BOTW(and not getting to the point where they fuck up the prequel story)
And that the game looks more like it is from the same game, unlike hyrule warriors wheresome of the enemies look like asset rips from the 3DS zelda games.

That would have been cool had they gone with the canon backstory of the Champions dying, and even have them using Astor as the main antagonist who tried to bring back Ganon. That would have been better to have over what we got, and it wouldn't need any goofy time-traveling.

Finally getting around to playing Minish Cap for the first time. I don't know what took me so long, Link's Awakening is probably my favorite game of all time and the Oracle games are up there. Pretty good so far. All of the backtracking and kinstone stuff is a bit tedious though.
Yeah, if you're really unlucky, you won't be able to fuse 100 of them. You need to fuse A certain number of them before the king is disposed of and even that is at the mercy of RNG.

Zelda Autists can you answer a question for me?

In Wind Waker, Ganondorf declares his motivation for doing the shit he did (blow up Castle Town and turn Hyrule Castle into some hell castle thing) because he didn't like how windy the desert was.

Why didn't he just use the literal power of the gods to just make the desert less windy? Or turn the desert into a paradise? Was he retarded or something?

Why did he just spend all his time sitting in some scary castle with a bunch of monsters instead of smashing mad Gerudo puss? Was he gay or something?
He was using the wind as a metaphor. He coveted the peace, happiness, and freedom enjoyed in Hyrule. He envied the purity of Hyrule. He wanted to rule over Hyrule and dominate it as a way of having it for himself. He would take pleasure in destroying the purity of Hyrule.

The desert was a desolate inhospitable place filled with death, despair, and destruction devoid of love and happiness as Hyrule had. I doubt the gods would allow him to have the kind of power to change either Hyrule or the Gerudo desert. When he returned before Wind Waker the gods flooded the land rather than let him have the power of the triforce. The only reason he got the triforce power and took over Hyrule in OOT was because Link was alive. With Link alive and able to travel through time to stop him Ganon's control of Hyrule was only ever temporary so the gods did not intervene. But if Link was not there the gods would have prevented Ganondorf themselves.
