Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Ship of Harkinian is great, I would not play vanilla Ocarina again. Some things like free camera, infinite draw distance, and widescreen just make it way better. There's easy modern controller mapping and you can toggle time-wasters like make skulltulas appear 24 hours. You can drop package of HD textures into a subfolder and then it's basically on par with the Wii U remakes. (You can actually run it on Wii U if you are inclined.)

Download whichever rom at archive.org and run the installer. Presto

I see. Yeah, I can understand that. I thought they looked fine, better in some ways, worse in others, and the 3D was a neat novelty at times. Never heard about the controls being neutered, just it making some kind of controversial content changes (not just controls or time travel stuff).

What controls were changed?
Deku skipping, Goron rolling and Zora swimming were all made worse. Here's a good video going over the changes:

There is a fan patch that fixes pretty much all of the issues with MM3D. https://restoration.zora.re/

Alright, so I broke down and downloaded Ship of Harkonian before proceeding to spend the entire afternoon getting the HD textures and UI exactly how I want it. I’ve also moved my computer out to the living room on the 4K projector, which is a… dangerous precedent to set.

Shit looks great and the game still holds up as one of the best games of all time. This is a definite example of how retro games, especially 3D ones on pre-modular hardware, can be given a refresher from fan effort.

I’m pissed because I still can’t get my computer to connect to my Switch controller via Bluetooth, so I’ve got it running through a fuck-off long usb cable.

are Link and Zelda eternally a couple too?
The romance angle between them got dialed up around Skyward Sword, the same time all of the retarded shit and retcons with Zelda really kicked into gear. They didn't used to be but now Zelink seems like it's here to stay.

Ocarina Link probably banged Malon and TP Link's relationship with Midna was one of the better parts of that game, so it's a shame that cardboard Link and Nerd Zelda seem to be the only interpretation of the characters allowed going forward.
Of course, Link ditching it like the autistic mute he is is funnier.
I always just assumed he held onto it as a memento but you can't use it because it's a bit redundant.

Ever since Zelda 2, where they kissed, it's been a thing really. Other times it was less overt, but they had some obvious chemistry and moments, most notably them hugging and holding hands in Spirit Tracks. Sometimes it was pretty subtle, like flirtily winking at him and saying things that showed she cared in Wind Waker.

This instance might be purely reading into things too much, but I got the feeling the ending of OoT was sorta romantic. You know, with Link immediately running to see Zelda at the end, they look at each other and the screen freezes after turning sepia with "The End/Fin" there. It's really nothing but I interpreted it that way.

So, I guess it just depends on the game. It kinda went up and down with how much they'd portray it, or even just entirely omit any romantic vibes at all (I don't remember anything in Minish Cap or LttP).

Speaking of:

Is that how you interpreted those looks? I always took Tetra's one-eyed looks to mean "I've got my eye on you" or some kind of slyness.

It's not like I need it in these games or for it to be a huge major focus, but I wonder why Nintendo always hints at romance but refuses to ever really include it outright. Like even Mario and Peach still aren't technically an item. They'll hint at it but never actually say it out loud for some reason.

The "eternal reincarnation" angle was something supposedly done to give the franchise more creative freedom, but I think it has been restrictive. Then you have TOTK pulling a Last Jedi and buttfucking the lore... I think the "story situation" for Zelda is actually the worst it's ever been. The timeline split may have fucked with some people back in the day, but at least games like Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were softly and smartly connected to past ones like Ocarina and Majora.
Ocarina Link 100% did bang Malon and TP Link's relationship with Midna was peak Zelda,
FIFY.

Come on. TP Link scopes out the bar chick's boobs, and there's an entire cutscene dedicated to warning him about his inner demons. Other than Dark Link fights I don't think other Zelda games imply the hero might have his own personal issues.

My memory of those scenes must have been washed over by the fact that everywhere else Link has that gormless look on his face. Even in the "real" parts of the scene you posted he looks kind of spaced out.

It says a lot that Wolf Link shows more human emotion that human Hylian Link.

Also lmao at the comments in that video. The slightest edge and they lose their minds. "I can't believe this is a Nintendo game." Nobody tell these tards about the bottom of the well.

I point out that makes the TP Link thing make no sense.

Remember, TP Link is the Hero of Time's descendant, and the Hero of Time became a Stalfos because he was forgotten. It would make no sense if he ended up with Zelda, became King, and then was somehow forgotten.

Honestly I find the idea of Zelda and Link very questionable for the simple fact it would take on incestuous undertones over time very fast. I think that is why they dodged it so often, and would be a pretty good reason to place Zelda 2 at the end of the timeline.

Was that ever officially confirmed? I hear people repeating this, but it's only very vaguely hinted at in the actual game.

The Hero of Time was from the Adult Link timeline, right? The timeline where he marries the princess was the one where they go back to the beginning of the story. In the Adult Link timeline maybe he did marry Zelda and had kids, but since the kingdom had fallen and she became a Shieka he gets forgotten

No, our dear skeleton was apparently the child Link
Oh no that makes sense. He remembers saving the kingdom but nobody else did. He may not have the accumulated honors to rise from a commoner rank and marry the princess and became her secret lover at best.
