Rename this to the Lego grieving thread because the actual bricks have a better return on their money than the S&P500. Sorry I went inside a Lego store the other day and saw the prices for basic sets.
At this point most of the sets I buy are the 3-in-1 animal sets and the retro Space stuff, the licensed stuff is hideously overpriced for the most part now.

Here's an old one. Technic Mobile Crane MkII from 2013. Has motorized stabilizer arms, crane boom lift and telescoping, and the crane winch itself. Also has 8-wheel steering and a working V-8 engine.

I made my usual cosmetic changes. Mainly swapped out parts to minimize "color vomit", filled in a lot of the open framework, made a hinged hood for the engine compartment and beefed up the back of the crane with a second battery box as ballast. The crane was a bit front heavy when fully extended.

The really interesting part of this model is that fact that all of the motorized functions run off of a single motor mounted in the back of the crane. The red levers select the function to use. The boom is 28" fully extended. With my additions, parts count is around 2700.

What's everyone's opinion on MandRproductions? I'm torn, because I agree with most of the stuff he says (lego's prices, cheapness of parts and shirking sets) while I find his arrogance and nitpicking on small shit (Helmet holes, lack of arm printing and lack of dual molded legs) to be insufferable. He has a vendetta against lego even though they kicked him out of LAN (Lego Ambassador Network) for breaking TOS and being a child.
His fans are the worst, and every other Lego youtuber tries to suck his dick for clout, the worst being Fivelonelyclones and BrickReporter.
Honestly aside from a select few like Kelton Davis (A lego historian) and Cheesy (an odd yet wholesome nerd) the whole Lego youtuber scene is rotten.

The Lego train videos are really cool. I have a few Marklin model trains in HO and Z gauge I tinker with. Never delved into the Lego trains, but they look like they run well.

Christmas saw a new set for me. The Icons Concorde model. I'm figuring out shelf space needed, and it's a way bigger set than I thought at 42" nose to tail. Works out to be around 1/60 scale. Turning the tail-cone retracts and extends the landing gear, the drop nose works, and it has a detailed interior with seats, galley, and even toilets. All the markings are printed, so no separate decals to deal with.

Should be a good winter weekend project.

Not a Legofag, closest I came was faking being one for a girl.

But holy shit the prices are insane. I had a high school friend show me his allocated manchild room (we’re both late 20s now) and he’s like, “Me and Steph wanted to do a trip this year but it wasn’t in the budget.” That was in regards to me and another friend going on a bender in Nassau for a week and a half.

Then I learn that fucking sail barge is almost a GRAND in leaf bucks? Mother of God, those euros fucking hate you guys.

Anyway, onto the point. Why does Jang look like he’s a depressed Sim? I remember from being a Lego kid that he was the best Legotuber. Did something silly happen to warrant him looking like a fast-aging clone trooper? I had to do a double-take when I saw him in my recommended.
