News of his death was first reported by radio and TV host Eddie Trunk, who was a longtime friend of Lemmy. Several others have since confirmed the news, including Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who wrote on Twitter, “Lost one of my best friends, Lemmy, today. He will be sadly missed. He was a warrior and a legend. I will see you on the other side.”

Motörhead have yet to formally confirm the news, though Trunk added that an official statement will be released tomorrow.

The cause of Lemmy’s death is unknown, though he had been suffering from a number of well-publicized health issues, including hematoma. In 2013, he was fitted with an implantable defibrillator to correct an irregular heartbeat.

Although with his lifestyle choices he certainly did well getting to 70, Lemmy was still an iconic performer whose presence was respected in the metal scene and will be missed. It's all about the game and how you play it; Lemmy certainly played the game pretty damn well.

RIP dude :semperfidelis:

RIP/DEP Lemmy.

In memoriam:

Gee, today sure was a bad day to watch the Lemmy documentary on Netflix.

I saw Motorhead back in 2012 with Megadeth. They put on a great show that day, naturally.
RIP one of the truest rock n' roll icons in history. Your spirit will live on.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Glad I got to see them a few times. Always put on one hell of a show. RIP you glorious fucker.

The word round my playground was that if Lemmy didn't stop taking speed he'd have a heart attack, and I believed that until now. RIP.

Oh man. This hurts like when Dio died.
I mean, we all knew it was coming, but I'd much rather read "Black Veil Brides' tour bus exploded, killing everyone on board" than "rock and roll as we know it died."

Incidentally Lemmy was such a badass even CANCER had to stab him in the back.

Nobody even seems to know what kind he had because he was only diagnosed with it right before he died.
