I think that story is utter bullshit. She’s writing fan fiction from overheard stories of infertile NYC women. Any woman who went to have eggs harvested due to an impending hysterectomy would have had way more than 6 fucking eggs harvested and frozen. Getting six eggs from a women in her early thirties is considered a failure/poor results. They would have told her she needed to repeat the procedure again next month to get a better result and bank more.
They ideally aim to bank at least 20 in those situations, more if time permits. The success rate using frozen eggs isn’t great, so they like to have at least 20 for better odds.
They also advise women to bank embryos, not eggs. If Lena was just going to use some random sperm donor they would have told her go ahead and have IVF done to produce 6 cell embryos to freeze - this would have been done immediately after they harvested her eggs. The only reason you freeze eggs is if the woman is single but hopes to have a bio child with a future husband. If sperm donor was always the plan then there is no reason to freeze eggs instead of embryos. (They would have also been a instant litmus test for the viability of her eggs)
I knew someone who had to do this at 31 due to impending chemo/radiation treatment. She had to go through egg harvesting 3 times, and delay treatment, to ensure she “banked” enough to hopefully one day have a biological child. They urged her to bank embryos but she only wanted kids if she got married one day, so opted against it.
Lena wasn’t facing any life or death timeline to have her uterus removed so she had all the time in the world to bank eggs if it was really a big deal to her. Every IVF provider on earth would have told her banking six eggs gave her minuscule chance of ever having a baby.
I still think Lena wants to convince her troon sister to carry a baby for her. This way she can get ultimate SJW bingo by having a “man” give birth to her biracial baby. The only reason it may not happen is because her sister has some sanity and refuses or Lena can’t bare to see all the attention lavished on sis in the media while she’s the first “celebrity” man to give birth.

I was browsing CDAN yesterday and found this. Sure enough, most commenters were guessing it was about Lena.

It makes a lot of sense that she's trying to bring attention to the fact she can't have children. She's setting things up to announce an adoption as soon as she finds a kid she won't feel like returning. How much more horrible could this woman be?

She is truly defective. Clearly, she's such a rotten genetic branch that she needed to be lopped right the fuck off, and fortunately, that happened. While some luckless orphan may end up as her kid one day, at least it won't share her accursed genetics.
She is...not a great human being.
Granted, plenty of shitty humans have been great writers. But Dunham is so far up her own ass, she's captivated by every colonic fold and ridge and secretion she discovers, and gives them completely outsized significance. Small, mundane details take on tremendous portent; every emotion she experiences must be amplified to heighten the drama. She's got to make everybody see how sensitive and observant she is, and how profound her thoughts and feelings are, and she just comes off as an insufferable narcissist, to the point of self-parody.

There's a roughly 100% chance that Lena Dunham is still a junkie. I'm sure she doesn't consider herself one because she's taking prescribed narcotic painkillers for all of her myriad munchie illnesses. She was only addicted to those terrible benzos, she has to take lortabs for her chronic pain issues. Her doctor insists on it!
I bet she's zonked out of her gourd pretty much 24/7. Boutique doctors who cost a lot of money will give you whatever you want, and I'm sure that's the kind of doctor Lena has. She'll eventually crash and end up in another rehab.

Suffering builds character. Dunham has spent her entire life in some sort of weird bubble boy/echo chamber hybrid that insulates her from even the slightest negative stimulus, to the point where she can't even recognize normalcy because she has no experience of it. Her worldview is exactly as warped as you'd imagine as a result.

This made me think of Elizabeth Wurtzel, who I always imagined was someone Lena tried to style herself after. Except Wurtzel really was talented, and while she was a tried and true narc if there ever was one, was always very upfront about what a shitty person she could be. And unlike Lena, she had the good sense and work ethic to get a real world job when her creative career tanked. (And also unlike Lena, she had multiple abortions).
I wonder if Lena was massively triggered when her celeb bff Emily Rata announced her pregnancy. It seems like every celeb in her age range is pregnant or just had a baby, she has to be seething at missing out on all that attention that sort of thing brings. I don't believe for a second she's ever wanted a child for its own sake.

Lena is a retard. During her more fertile years, she thought she’d do the cool and progressive thing by talking about how she wants nothing to do with kids while she was dating a guy who wasn’t as famous as her but was an up and comer. Then she took it to the next level by exaggerating or outright fabricating her illness and had a hysterectomy for likely no reason at all. She figured she would only get more famous over time.
Now a few years later her progressive gal pals decided to listen to their biology and start having kids. Lena is shit out of luck there because let’s face it, adoption isn’t the same thing. Now her ex-boyfriend is much more famous and established. I have no doubt that she wants kids. However she wanted to be a munchie instead.
Lena fucked herself hard on this one and it couldn’t happen to a better person. As her friends establish families, Lena is forever locked in as the cool wine aunt but at the end of the night she goes home alone to an empty bed with no husband, boyfriend or kids. I’d have sympathy but it’s Lena Dunham so I don’t. She’s getting what she thought she wanted at age 25 good and hard.

Agree, I kinda doubt she actually wants kids so much as she wants the attention having kids gets you. That or she wants a kid as an accessory
Even with her whining about infertility I wonder whether it's genuine or just another performance to try and get attention and pity. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't actually give a shit about not being able to have bio kids beyond being able to use it as a sob story.

Nope. If having a child was so very important she would not have self-sterilized. If you read her long hysterectomy munchie saga multiple doctors advised her against it but she demanded it. It was a case of being told she couldn’t or shouldn’t have something - so now she wants it. Same thing with a baby, now that she can’t have one she think she does want one.
Given how much IVF whining she must have listened to and absorbed from infertile women in NYC I think she decided she wanted a IVF saga for material. She wanted a tragic ending though so she got a hysterectomy and only banked six eggs. I still don’t believe she banked eggs or had IVF done on them, but nobody can prove it because all medical info is private. It’s all just content for her attention grist mill. She also gets to act all hysterical and victimized if her friends dare bring any kids around her now.
Lena would like to return to the mindset and selfishness of age 24 and remain there forever, it was comfortable for her. Actual adulthood is not. The only reason she has any interest in children is because all the women in social circles she covers are doing it.
I wish Lena would embrace being a childless woman and write about its benefits instead of bemoan it and write about her IVF tragedy. Anyone that admires, or takes Lena seriously, should not have children. I fear her hand wringing over infertility will result in a bunch of morons deciding to get pregnant.
Over-population is a serious problem. I’d rather fewer children to good parents be born than lots of children to idiot shitbags. Quality over quantity. Unfortunately we have a massive problem in quantity dept but a chronic quality shortage.
Lena sterilizing herself was one of the only sensible decisions of her life so of course she wants to undo it.

She should adopt a potato, one who is completely insensate and has no hope of doing anything other than existing. She gets the bill for the potato's care, she can't be blamed for having other people do the caretaking and she gets points for adopting a special needs baby. As long as she keeps the money flowing and hires competent people, she can't fuck up a potato.
