Good god I really dunno what to say about this guy.

Aside from the next time I travel to PA I may have to visit some of these railroads just to lend financial support. Foamers can really be the absolute worst because they just assume they can go anywhere and do anything, wandering areas which're genuinely unsafe, but just because they read a few books and think they know the theory they just toddle off without a care for anyone else.

What I find especially gauling about foamers like him is... talk for a bit with the volunteers and staff at these places and show an actual interest? They'll take you on a bloody tour and provided they know where you are you can get that "exclusive" angle for your film or photograph.

I call it the Shaner rat king of autism. These are all potential cows in themselves and who knows how many other crazy foamers are out there and I want to take this thread in that kind of direction and turn it into a lolcow finding machine like the first thread should have been more focused on.

Sadly I doubt you'd find all that many foamers that talk to Shaner, the fact he kept pushing his hobby on everyone around him hints to me that he just doesn't get to socialize with other rail fans and thus shoves it onto everyone else.

At best we might find another foamer that hates him, mostly because foamers will fight each other tooth and bloody nail to get "that shot" and are hilariously over-protective of "their spots". I once saw two of them screaming away at each other once because they kept trying to ruin each other's spots and they just wound up missing their target all together.

I'm pretty sure the story of Hy in court that day, including accusing a man of being @cumrobbery, was all verified independently by another source through @Saul Goodman (RIP sweet prince). I can't recall though if someone ever actually got around to purchasing a transcript of the hearing.

I recall that there was verification as well and that the verification was by someone who was active in the thread and had delivered true and honest content multiple times

Pretty much. They're entertaining as hell at times and it's always funny as crap when someone gets permission to do some of the more controversial shots as they kick right the hell off because the cameraman dared ask for actual permission to take pictures with supervision. One railway I visited I got a fantastic tour of their locomotive shed and saw a ton of stuff you wouldn't normally see all because I'd shown actual interest in what they were doing there.

Another guy then tried to wander around on their own after me (complete with baseball cap and camera with a lens a foot long) and the nice elderly guy I was still chatting with gave the guy a proper bollocking.

They can get pretty bad in the UK during special events and when famous locomotives turn up it can be all out war of the stupid, with them taking increasing risks to get "the" shot, including wandering onto the tracks, which causes all sorts of hell for everyone involved.

Thankfully a lot of railways on both sides of the Atlantic now host properly chartered photographic specials, which cater to both photographers and foamers alike, and they're a bit better organized and have people basically chaperoning the groups.

No need. Besides that ultrafeg @Kirby , I was given the info too (via PM) for reasons unknown. Zim was the one who had the info and it was given to @Pocket_Sand! . He then gave that info to @Kirby and me for Leif Ericson Day. Ultrafeg shot first since I was out shopping during that time. It probably was the origin for why he began acting like such a tryhard too.

So Shaner acting like an ultra spastic that day likely happened.
