Great, now I know the correct terminology for train harcore enthusiast. "Foamer" haha, nice.

I still don't get what does Shaner expects from all this. I mean, everyone already knows he's crazy and rejects him so, why he's still trying to talk shit about the places he's been banned? what could he possibly accomplish if not being laughed at and get banned from other places because of his shitty attitude?. Lolcow mentallity should be a subject of research.

Terrible if Leonard F. Shaner Jr. of Pottstown Pennsylvania found this Railroad thread. Imagine what would happen if Len Shaner found this railroad thread about railroads in Pottstown. Leonard Shaner would surely put us right if he found this railroad thread.

So, this guy walked off with federal property in 2008 ("The Steamtown Scandal")? What became of that? Did he get raided? Did the stolen parts get recovered?

Also, I don't understand the train numbers, I just know that 565 is an historic relic and 1278 is the white trash motorhome of trains? We're used to trains with faces around these parts.

edit: This is confusing the hell out of me. How does an old man just steal train parts? I would imagine they're exceedingly large and/or heavy. I'm assuming there were accomplices?

@Super Collie, no, he didn't get raided, they didn't finish the audit until this month (Government operation, what do you expect) and confirmed that the parts are missing. I assume he just backed his truck up to the shop and loaded them up. As a project lead, most people wouldn't question him. The compressors would be heavy if they're in one piece, but disassembled they're manageable. The throttle assembly likewise. Now that they have a lead on where the parts are, it is in the Park Service/State Police hands.

As far as 565 goes, it's is one of two steamers left from the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western, so very rare, and very much in need of restoration.

1278 was a steamer out on the Gettysburg RR back in the 80's and early 90's. It wasn't properly cared for, maintenance was minimal and the crews running it were incompetent. As a result of this, it blew up in 1994, no deaths, and not total catastrophic failure, a part of the firebox blew apart and scalded the crew can't remember if anyone died or not. Shaner's expertise in steam engines defined 1278 as "in great shape" it merely serves to discredit him more.

Shaner is also only in his mid 40's, 46 or 47, I think.

Nah that's some random guy or he stole someones identity. The real Denise Beckman is actually quite furious from what I can tell and actually did call the police into this.

I don't know how train smart he actually is. From what I can tell it's the only hobby he has but I've never seen a photo or instance of anyone mentioning he's worked on anything track related. Everything I've seen is thousands of his photos of trains and a few photos of him hanging around being "special". One of the guys here who actually knew him could clarify if I'm wrong or not.

Honestly, the non-Len side isn't doing themselves any favors by raging and calling him names. I mean Len is objectively a bad person, but engaging him on facebook doesn't make the other side look more mature.

It's something I've long strongly avoided on my page. Insulting the man for his fallacies like his weight, his appearance, or his creep factor is a low blow. It's a reason why the popular "Mmmmmmsses" line has never appealed to me.
Talking about the horrendous things he's done, to companies and the people around him does warrant derision.

Insulting someone who has disability is not the same thing as insulting someone for their disability.
Simply put, it is wrong for us to insult someone for their weight, their appearance, or their living situation. Insulting someone for being a creep, disobeying orders, or being lazy while claiming to contribute is within normal rationale.

Or maybe I'm naive. Feel free to call me out when I start acting like him
