Ok,i,ll start of with the very first time i met this guy.Around 2000 i was new the RN,we also just got the internet.One of the first things i found was Railroad.com,a place with all kinds of different forums.You been there i suppose,anyway there was a forum dedicated to a regional railroad that vanished a long time ago.Wow i thought cool!Shaner was on there too and i thought he was okay,a little strange but whatever.After awhile this guy called "redfred" shows up claiming to be a former employee,well i thought this is great!He worked out of the same terminal i did!As you have noticed with len things start not adding up,redfred had no idea what kind of brakes they had..no idea of train handling,route profile.The stuff you need to know.I questioned and quizzed him then silence,he just stopped answering.Others were suspicious as i was.It turn out redfred did work for the railroad and was like 92 or something,it was found out later shaner knew his grandson and started posting using hid ID.I did not put this together at the time,but it would add up later in other "personas"This was the start.
I wish i could confirm this,it goes back to 2000 and i know the thread went away when they changed formats a few years back.So you know Shaners penchant for hot women i bring you to Amtrak Liz.Liz was an interesting character,her name was Liz Pompone {i think that,s how it was spelled and she was from Harrison NJ.Well a female engineer that,s interesting problem was the shortline i worked for interchanged with Conrail at Bristol PA on the NEC.There was an interlocking jct there called...Bristol.One day they had signal trouble and all trains had to get permission to pass stop signals while maintainers worked on the problem.A few days later Liz pops up on IM and i asked he what happened in Bristol,she replied Bristol Virginia?No Bristol interlocking and at that point she logged out.That was the start of the end for Liz.More to follow
It turns out Liz was married,to a mobster...yup you read that right a mobster named Angelo.Now i [REDACTED] and i know wiseguys don,t walk around telling everybody they know they are in the mob.Angelo would threat anyone who question him,Liz OR Len,anyway i finaly had enough when they started in a 14 y/o kid from {REDACTED} named [REDACTED],saying they were going to kill him and his family , i broke in and told Len to knock it off and if he wants to pick on someone let it be me.I offered to meet him halfway if he felt so damn tough.After that he cut it off and never attacked direct on me again.

Well lets see,I was a moderator at Railroad .com for a littlewhile and shaner drove me crazy with his antics there.I begged the owners for help and they replied there was nothing they could do.I had to stay on top at almost all hours to keep that shitbag away.I finally told the admins to shove it.Then he started his shit on Railfan.net,{REDACTED} the admin tried but no use.The endless names just kept coming.I had enough and that was the end of forums for me.Try this like

Pomponi was the last name,the last time i google it i got a{REDACTED} in Harrison.Also at the time i worked with a fellow named {REDACTED.} {REDACTED} did work as an assistant stationmaster at Penn station for a few years and did some checking and confirmed there was no Liz Pomponi working there.
Don.t mean to be all over the place with this,but the first face to face meeting with shaner was in 2000 at Jim Thorpe.I had just gotten off work when he introduced himself and talked for about an hour.He seemed like a nice guy...and not defend him but knowledgeable on railroad history.No red flags there.
One more possible conformation,i don,t have his email,but his name is [REDACTED]..i think that,s how it was spelled.He is some big shot in the town of Forty Fort Luzerne county.He can prob be reached via the towns website.He was involved with calling shaners home and just plain harassing him.Dont know if he will talk but its worth a try.
