Lethal Company Thread

This game is only fun with friends. played it for about 4 hours with some buddys singleplayer is ass and boring

the game is filled with la scary monsters and stupid game mechanics I will expect this game to be dead within a month
Pretty much. The game almost gets nigh-impossible to beat later on as your quota gets higher and you logically need a full party of 4 players to even fill them up. It's still kinda fun for now, but I definitely see this as very much a small 'fad game' much like Crab Game, Fall Guys, etc.

The kind of indie dev multiplayer game to show up on your Steam reccomendations and people play it for a quarter of a year then just move on to the next thing when the devs can't keep with the demand.

Also doesn't help the dev is a Roblox furry degen lmao. I'm sure Ruben Sim probably got something on him.

Same sucks, lol.

Load into a game and maybe find some scrap, then die instantly to some bug or animal or something stupid. The goofy-ass character models and voice chat are the only things that got a laugh out of me. Days are way too short, too. It feels like you have to run to the ship and extract before the game can even begin.

I've played better $1 Xbox Live Arcade games.

I initially wrote it off as FotM streamer bait but I've been playing it with my partner and friends and finding it far better than Phasmophobia, which is the only other 4 player co-op horror I've played.

It actually has soul to it, pretty neat music, a distinct art style and honestly animates better than Phasmo does after 4 fucking years.

Also unlike in Phasmo it's actually fun even if you die because you get to watch your friends freak the fuck out. And you can directly fight back against enemies which makes it less frustrating.

Finally compared to Phasmo, instead of spending time setting up and then just immediately dying, in LC you're constantly moving and mapping out the environment.

I dunno guys, for once the FotM cancer is actually fun and has some decent mechanics to it.

I've been playing it with my 5 stack and its extremely fun. People saying it sucks solo baffle me. Its not meant to be a solo test of mad skill, its meant to be a game you mess around with on your buddies and laugh until your ribs crack.

Saying "it sucks solo >:(" is like saying that monopoly sucks solo, you're not meant to play it fucking solo, its a social game, 99% of the fun comes from the interactions you have with your friends.

Dying is part of the fun because you get to watch your friends freak the fuck out when they're dying and chat in the death lobby is almost as fun as the game itself when the dead shittalk the living and watch them.

I've never laughed so hard playing a game in my life. 10/10 recommend if you have friends to play with.

This game ended up being a dud for me. in terms of "multiplayer getting hunted by the monster" I vastly prefer phasmophobia. There's something that really appeals to me more about "actively going to go find the spooky thing to guess it" over actively avoiding them/might not run into any at all. There's also something really offputting about the theming that I can't quite put my finger on.

Absolutely correct. Except this isn't reddit, this is more like a /v/ rapefugee camp.
yeah there are definitely times where people get uncomfortably frothing about their vidya

been playing a lot of this with friends its a hoot especially since we don't get a chance to hang out IRL recently.

Solo is only playable with mods and it doesn't compare to with friends. Its a lot scarier and less funny though. I add mods that make a few things easier like keeping scrap when you die, a very low health regen, mod to make you a little faster, and then some fun random stuff I found on the thunderstore app.

I've been watching insym play lethal company recently. The game, particularly with a coordinated squad, is fantastic viewing material which explains how it exploded on the Internet like it did. When I first saw it, I didn't think much of it because it honestly felt like someone just put a roblox game mode into SCP Secret Laboratory. I still don't feel that it's all that special of a game, and there are some things I dislike, but there are also a few things I love.

Firstly, some dislikes:
  • Considering how this game looks: it should be even lower minimum specs than it already is. It honestly looks like a game from 2005/2006 and if that's the case I would expect, on principle, it to be programmed to run on 2005/2006 level hardware. However, "on principle" is there for a reason. Even if the guy who made it is a good developer, it could just be the engine or tools for all I know. Nobody knows shit about optimization these days.
  • The time limit on the clock is unreasonably short. It doesn't feel right just how quickly the days pass by in-game. Also you should be able to see the clock indoors. I'm not sure if this is an option that people I've watched just haven't turned on, but it feels a bit retarded to not have it there. You mean to say that I can time myself outdoors but not indoors? Stupid.
Now for what I love:
  • The mimics are easily my favorite monsters in the game. How they imitate player movement and player speech is fucking mental, I love it. None of the other monsters are nearly as creepy as seeing and hearing a teammate and then realizing too late it's a mimic and bolting away in retreat. Though it would be some work: they could work on the AI for it so that it genuinely tries to convince you it's one of the players before killing you suddenly. It occurred to me that's it's probably programmed to not yell racial slurs, so a funny situation would be suspicious teammates aiming shotguns at it yelling "SAY THE N WORD! SAY THE N WORD! SAY THE N WORD! NOW! NOW!" like they're police in a body cam situation lmao.
  • I adore the commander role the game provides in the ship with the terminal. It makes for riveting gameplay coordinating your team on screen and over radio like it's Rainbow Six. They should touch up the controls for switching views and controlling the facility to make it more fluid but otherwise it's great.
The game feels very rough and under cooked. I feel like it's one of those early access situations where the dev hits it big too early for their own good. I'll see how it develops from here. Hopefully it doesn't become a Sir You Are Being Hunted - a game with great moments, good mechanics but just peters out after an initial burst of attention.

All I know about this game is that it's created by a Roblox furry named "Zeekerss". That's enough for me to take my wallet elsewhere.
