Ignore that rule then. If there's hidden gems and primary market games that haven't been mentioned, I'd love to hear them. Even if they're technically first party.
The reason for the "no first party rule" when I made the thread was to avoid it becoming like every other Switch discussion and video online. Which boils down to the same dozen or so games over and over and over. But the rule seems to be causing more harm than good so ignore it.
And to be clear, when trying to find good switch games, the names that come up are always
- Mario Odyssey
- Mario 3D World
- Mario 3D All Stars
- Mario Kart 8
- Smash Bros Ultimate
- Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
- Zelda Breath of the Wild
- Splatoon 3
- Pokemon Sword Shield Black White Pokedots whatever
- Animal Crossing
- Metroid Prime
- Metroid Dread
- Fire Emblem Three Houses
and occasionally other stuff like Celeste, Skyrim, Captain Toad, Astral Chain, SMT, Mario Party, and Nintendo Labo.
These games have been talked to death and back and most of them are of little interest to me. eg. Who doesn't have Skyrim unless you play only Nintendo and thus never played it until now?
Switch fans claim there are thousands of high quality games for the Switch, but when asked, go right back to the list I just posted. I knew of Fast RMX because I love F-Zero GX and was annoyed by the lack of a sequel. I knew of Mario + Rabbids because I was a XCOM junkie (never heard of the sequel until this thread). But that was about the extent of my Switch knowledge.
Weird (but good) shit on the platform that has first party titles included:
Golf Story (switch unique sports rpg)
Warioware Get it Together (mini game collection thing- uses the joycons for weird shit)
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania (puzzle platformer - uses the gyro for control)
Into the Breach (made by the Faster than light devs, it’s pacific Rim- switch exclusive)
Clubhouse games 51 (1-4 player boardgame simulator that uses the joycons to actually have good portable multiplayer)
Portal Collection (only console version that runs at 60fps)
Advance Wars Reboot Camp (chess like strategy game with no rpg elements)
Pikmin 4 (tard wrangling simulator)
Rune Factory 3/4 Special (stardew valley without the implied cuck stuff)
Astral Chain/Bayonetta Origins (Platinum games makes an unofficial evangelion/soul eater game)
Kirby Forgotten World (It’s Kirby but actually fun)
Voice of Cards Trilogy (Yoko
Taro dragon quest games)
Dragon Quest Builders 2 (Minecraft with an actual story and characters)
Neon White (adhd shooter/platformer)
Dicey Dungeon (it’s like darkest dungeon with dice and swing jazz)
13 Sentinels (it’s evangelion again)
Dusk/Quake/Quake 2 (best first person shooters on the platform)
Xenoblade Series (your mileage may vary, but I think they are generally very cool semi open world RPGs)
Pokémon Legends Arceus (it’s the only mainline Pokémon game to try something new in 20 years)
Steamworld Heist (2d xcom with ricochet mechanics)
Cruisin Blast (Nintendo arcade cabinet racing game - outrun like)
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (lemmings puzzle game)
Sky Rogue (German plane dogfighting rogue like)
Disco Elysium (alcoholism/racism simulator rpg)
Katamari Damacy Reroll (time based cleaning game?)
Hades (intro game for roguelites, nice story and visuals)
Triangle Strategy - (final fantasy tactics without the final fantasy)
Monster Hunter Stories 2 (it’s like Pokémon but with the cast of monster Hunter)
Sakuna of Rice and Ruin (rice farming/action rpg)
West of Loathing (anti rpg)
Famicom Detective Club (Nintendo visual novel - only Nintendo game to feature murder by hanging)
