Let's Play, the bane of Youtube's video storage space - Let's make video games non-interactive

Diabetus was the funny one.
His Bill Clinton jokes at the start of those Gaming in the Clinton Years videos were god tier and I still quote some of them to this day. The fact he was able to quickly pump a Clinton joke for Xenogears of all things is admirable.

"I AM THE FINAL FANTASY."

"I'LL SHOW YOU SOMETHING WELTALL."

I miss Medibot. His Kirby videos were nice and relaxing after a long day.

My favorite LP is still pokecapn's Sonic '06 LP, done alongside Medibot, IlluminasVespucci, and Kung-Fu Jesus. Watching them lose their goddamned minds over how much more the game breaks as they careen further to the end while they make fun of the stupid plot is a great time.

Let's plays? What is this, early 10's? I thought that everyone who plays games while commenting them just streams now.

There are actually still a ridiculous number of let's plays being uploaded to Youtube every day. I'd say the "Let's Play" tag is now useless because you are competing against a million other videos with the same tag. And most of them are incredibly low effort hours long snoozefests for modern AAA games.

In fact I've noticed a trend in the last couple of years where people not only drop the LP tag but they don't number the parts either, I think in an effort to get clicks from people searching for any type of video on a certain game.

The best thing he and Diabeetus made were their videos on Micheal Gibson's Negociation games from the Flash era.
I legit recommend it, not only their commentary is at their finest but games are so living in their own little world while trying to pretend they are realistic is a god damn clown show.

They even make for great background sound while playing video games.

There is also their videos on Darkseed 1 and 2 and a few others are also really good.

We all know Chris Chan was the OG L.P
I wish they did more Retsufrashes, Newgrounds is a goldmine. I assume there must be someone out there doing the same kind of thing with Itch.io these days.

Chris Chan was the LP Eve and AVGN was the LP Adam🍎 -

The one that has stuck in my head is "are you ready to downshift on me baby"

OneyPlays is the best Let's Play channel when Chris, Zach, and Tomar are in the videos:

Ding Dong and Julien had some hilarious moments too, but Zach Hadel is just too great. Are there any videos with Ding Dong, Julien, Oney and Zach?

I'm also sick of people putting their faces everywhere on the thumbnails.

Dude, Let's plays were my crack as a child! It was very fun watching people play old retro games that I didn't know they existed until now. I also didn't know how to emulate games properly, so that probably helped a lot lol. Many of the LPS I watch were from Brazilian people however, since you know, I couldn't speak english when I was at the age of 10.

However, I did watch this Kirby Super Star co-op LP when I was at that age. It's definetly a relic of its time, but idk, I always have very fond memories watching it.

(Them talking about how Kirby Super Star Ultra is about to be released makes me realize that 2008 was really 17 years ago, which then makes me a little sad.)

My favorite playthrough that I'm very autistic about is a Fire Emblem Conquest playthrough made by my boy Deltre:

Every part is a hour long (with some reaching almost 2 hours), so I'm not sure if I can recommend it, but the way he plays the game by using fun/bad units but also playing very hyper efficient like a LTC is so entertaining to me, his commentary and the way he dubs cutscenes have also made me laugh a lot of times.

Sadly, neither these people make content anymore, but still, I shall forever be grateful on what they posted.

I will also still stand by chuggaaconroy's original Earthbound Let's Play, I haven't watch him since but I can't imagine he has aged well.

I only started watching Chugga in 2018 when funnily enough, he remade his Earthbound Let's Play, and I found it very enjoyable. He feels like a tour guide that loves his job a bit too much, explaining every little tiny detail about the game, be how to beat it or just random trivia, and I was all for it.

I don't watch him anymore, but that's mostly just because my life has been pretty busy lately.
