For what it's worth, I've been using 720x480 over in another thread and those were posting up fine, at least back on Tuesday. Not sure what I may or may not be doing to affect that, but that was before the header notice went up in the first place. You're at, what, 640x400? One should think that would cause fewer issues.
I think its probably just a software issue that's part of the ongoing problems with the image editor. Clearly the picture can still be resized manually and also using BB code, the function isn't lost or broken, the little tooltip just doesn't pop up anymore.

I don't know why it didn't occur to me earlier to start using this song for mission montages, give the fact that all of our Gals are using shotguns to clean up the streets.

screen014.png

I get Sea Urchin a little too close to a drone thinking for some reason the melee system would apply to it. This would turn out to be a very bad idea as it unloads its entire battery into her, leaving her heavily wounded.

Would have been a perfect run if I had just Sea Urchin in cover.

screen045.png

Oh joy, another threatening event message. I'm starting to think the mod hasn't changed all that much from when I started playing and I'm just psyching myself out over these.

screen047.png

Research on this expanded facility type completes, and I may actually invest in one of these for Beauty Parlor but usually I just set them up in my auxiliary bases.

The random Zombie replacement missions feel like they're a little too common, though I guess using the living dead as a common hazard is appropriate for a world as chaotic as this one is.

Though I am having trouble with the image resizer, it was always my plan to start compressing common missions like this one into simple montages with minimal commentary since this early phase of the game is super grindy.

screen168.png

I have a little too much to drink again and my reprise of Land of Confusion doesn't go over so well.

screen171.png
screen176.png
screen177.png

The Communications research gives us access to improved radar, but I'm going to try and leapfrog that stage of radar and get to the Overcharged one since I see no point in wasting money on the intermediate stage. Craft interceptions are nowhere near as reliable for us as missions are right now anyway.

screen182.png
screen195.png

The Guild troopers hilariously set their own base on fire trying to take potshots at us.

The fact that the base started a considerable distance away gave the enemy a range advantage for most of the battle. We were eventually able to storm it but the smoke from all that fire made picking off guards at a distance a lot more irritating.

screen290.png
screen291.png
screen295.png

Some research completes, giving us a window in the current Sectoid culture. Apparently at some point they were abandoned by the Ethereals and are now a dying race preserved only by shoddy cloning technology. Perhaps an alliance is possible in the future? In the mean time, we also research the first phase of kevlar armor, though we still lack the ability to manufacture anything from it yet.

screen300.png
screen303.png

Oh joy.

screen313.png

Jesus!

screen316.png

Some punk opens fire with a shotgun and suddenly an entire grove goes up in the blast. It goes without saying that Figger Naggot is extremely fucked up and without her armor she'd probably have been painted all over the side of the Partyvan.

screen332.png
screen337.png
screen339.png
screen340.png
screen343.png

Hate these fucking purple biomes. Not worth the trouble if you ask me, though that green shit in the field is semi-valuable Sectoweed which makes the loot from these missions a bit sweet.

screen348.png
screen345.png
screen352.png
screen356.png
screen366.png
screen378.png

Some miscellaneous research and events.

screen360.png

Fuckin finally, and we can actually buy these ones now that we've researched them! I order a case of 50 right away.

screen374.png

Also of note is that we've researched the weirdo who became a willing slave earlier. This research didn't actually unlock anything yet, but let's just say this dude is going to be far from our only slave.

screen380.png

New mission type. Its less than glorious.

screen383.png

This is the Ruins tileset. Its always dark and always bland and uninteresting to look at.

screen384.png

Here's a shot of the generic Giant Rats which make the same noises as the ones from Fallout 1&2 (I think).

screen385.png
screen388.png
screen390.png

They go down fairly easily, especially to our overpowered Heavy Shotguns. That said they also have a fuckton of time units and an attack that costs almost none of them so they can really chip away at your Gal's health if they get close. Not enough to be a real threat mind you, but just enough to put them in the infirmary for a week because fuck you.

screen392.png
screen393.png

There's also a ton of Hidden Movements between each turn, along with melee attacks against something in the dark. The stock cartoon "angry cat" sound effect plays every time our neutral ally attacks, so one can presume we're sharing this battlefield with kitties.

screen416.png
screen405.png

It does beg the question though, what the fuck are we doing down here if the owner already has a couple of cats to clear out pests?

screen425.png

We finally get close enough to see one of the cats, surrounded by a pile of kills. The sprite job isn't exactly the best.

screen427.png
screen428.png
screen429.png
screen432.png
screen433.png

The cat obligingly ends the mission for us. I'm pretty sure this mission type is just an easy means of giving the player a Black Cat specimen they can research early on since the rest of the loot is shit.

screen436.png
screen449.png
screen465.png
screen458.png

Maybe sending only two Gals to take on an entire Academy Outpost wasn't the smartest idea. Callow gets hit by laser fire and set alight. She's able to clean her wounds and shake it off, but the hot jungle climate eventually causes her to pass out from her wounds, leaving Dr. Ricearoni to solo this map. To make matters worse, most of the enemies are at range so Ricearoni has to close in as quickly as she can while also avoiding taking a hit.

screen471.png
screen474.png
screen476.png
screen485.png

Thankfully our new supply of grenades allows Ricearoni to avoid a prolonged shooting match with the armored Academy Medic, but as I feared she'd wounded and the clock is ticking for her to find the last enemies before she passes out.

screen491.png
screen497.png
screen498.png
screen499.png
screen500.png
screen505.png

I luck out severely with the last enemy sending up standing near a window, allowing Ricearoni to plug her just one turn shy of passing out and blowing the entire mission.

screen506.png

I check up on the progress of our rock breaking operation. The Runts are a bit under 2/3rds of the way done.

screen508.png
screen513.png
screen519.png
screen529.png
screen533.png
screen534.png
screen537.png

Most of the enemies in this mission get wasted by reaction fire so there isn't a whole lot to look at.

screen538.png
screen543.png
screen544.png
screen545.png

Research on Aqua Plastics, an integral component in nearly every useful armor type in the game, completes. We're a long way from being able to manufacture it so any that we can scavenge from captured prisoners is precious right now. This will likely mean that we have to start robbing armored units we capture like Medics rather than just researching them, though sometimes the more you research them the better you figure out how to pilfer what they've got.

Also of note is the Grrl Guide, which is a piece of literature like Old Earth Books, Lokk'Naar Scriptures, Church of Sirius texts, The Solar Courier and the Gun Almanac among others. Researching it essentially gives you a random research in a topic that is somehow related to the text in question (for instance, Gun Almanacs give you a random firearm research). Right now though researching literature isn't the most important avenue, but it will be used later to keep idle Brainers busy.

screen540.png

Everyone is all fucked up and wounded again so its time for another pair of recruits.

@Judge Dredd, @Kane Lives

Both of our new recruits are from whorehouse cleanup missions, with nothing too notable happening in either of them.

screen624.png
screen625.png

Certainly not the most glamorous first mission for the new recruits, but at least they got plenty of kills.

screen623.png

NerdShamer is promoted to the rank of Mistress now that we have enough Gals recruited to support it. To my surprise its A_Callow_Youth who is promoted to Boss Gal to fill her shoes. I was expecting someone who's been with the team longer like Chuckles to get it.

screen629.png
screen632.png

Despite all the shit that's been happening lately the Gals think last month was slow.

screen626.png

New and incredibly pointless mission type. You're supposed to blow up a barn in only a few turns using whatever is handy. The tiles that make up the barn walls and door are rigged to drop Goblin Zaxx Bounty Tokens in order to make the reward proportional to the level of destruction you cause, but in practice because there's shit in the way and you have such a tight time limit you'll rarely be able to destroy a whole lot of the barn before you run out of time. You also lose the mission instantly if you kill the owner, so no massive explosions to make the stupid thing easier.

screen643.png
screen647.png
screen648.png
screen652.png
screen657.png
screen658.png
screen660.png

Goblin Zaxx tokens are fairly hard to come by because their missions are so wimpy, so even though these barn missions feel like a massive waste of time we're basically compelled to take them every time.

screen662.png
screen663.png

Here's a quick showcase of the junk we get for opening up the Supply Crates and Prepper Strongboxes.

screen665.png
screen666.png

Some research that completed in the mean time. I plan on replacing our nearly useless molotovs with Incendiary Grenades at some point, but i forgot to check and see if I could purchase them.

SalmonForSale gets a Sea Urchin-style rampage in the whorehouse that gives her a sizeable stat and reputation boost. Kane Lives also gets some appreciable boosts. For the record she was tough enough to wear armor right out of the gate, so she's already one of our up and coming promising warriors.

Speaking of Gal stats.
@L50LasPak is it possible to get an update on the gals current stats to see how they've grown?

Also of interest is our latest research. It turns out to do actually still have the Damsel we researched, and I have researched the ability to actually recruit her into our ranks. Which leaves the question, do we want her? I have never recruited a Damsel before, she ransoms for about $60k which is a nice little bonus but not necessarily a king's ransom and we're currently doing okay on money, I think she starts with regular human stats instead of our Gals, and I don't know if we get any special events from having her onboard (if you do know keep quiet about it, no spoilers). The next person in line for recruitment is @Disc, who will be the tiebreaker if there is one.

I'm leaving the matter up to all of you.
  • Recruit her!
  • Ransom her for $60,000!
  • WALK THE PLANK, BITCH!

I was torn, if I recommend we start recruiting filthy weak normies, there is a good chance I'll get in quicker as they don't soak up the massive amounts of damage as the ubers.

However, if we do start letting normies in, there's a chance I'll get recruited as one and have as lackluster a showing as I have the previous three recruitments.

Important question: if she is recruited, would she become Disc?
Since you're next in line the answer is yes, though it technically depends on what order I choose to recruit her in (IE, before or after the Castaway Gal we have in holding). The plan is to recruit her first thing though.

Currently I have no plans to recruit regular Peasants into our ranks, barring something extreme like a total party kill if the game is going to really toughen up quickly like it keeps warning me it will, so there would be a small chance you would end up as the next Damsel we recruit but I think the odds are in your favor to get an Uber of some kind.

only reason to recruit humies is for some later arbitrary mission types
which is pretty much the same reason for recruiting any of the other useless low stat sub-races
which is why I tend towards that dosh payout as more gals are likely better at this stage anyway.

apparently this world hasn't learnt that Diversity is our strength
especially if Diversity is wielding a heavy shotgun

also gals are growing noicely, noice

The option to recruit her in this thread is I assume the same reason you're allowed to recruit Damsels in the game as well: novelty.

Hoo, boy, thread's just been rolling this week. Yay for promotions and growths, boo for going up 2 levels of Patient in one mission, and fuck you for that Fallen Angel, at least I was there for the easy Cavalier.

As for the Damsel, my biggest worry is that Disc's going to have a shit run with your playstyle and her stats, so I'd suggest leaning her towards a sniper role.

Recruit her!

That slave outfit is a hoot. You can at least give them credit for keeping the random gimpwear and bananahammocks to keep things fair for the men too. Thankfully in this weird Heavy Metal-verse there seems to be an inexhaustible supply of old BDSM wear.

It's just so much more punk than wearing loincloths.
