Is there any rhyme or reason to why you sometimes get negative points for "dead men looted"? I get how killing Alter Boys and other innocents might have a negative point cost, but other times it seems completely random.

Wait if Doom is Canon does that also mean doom marine is canon? If so, is he recruit able? I don't think the gals would mind him not being a gal, given he has more then proven himself badass enough.
Lets just pray Doom Guy is in this universe. Otherwise, we're screwed six ways to Hell...
I legit don't know if The Doomguy himself is canon, or what his name or identity would be if that is the case.

This is an aside, but the Doom RPG named him Stan Blazkowicz, which would mean he is descended from BJ Blazkowicz of Wolfenstein 3D and in 2018 John Romero and Tom Hall declared that Commander Keen's last name, Blaze, was short for Blazkowicz and said Doomguy is his descendant, so if you accept retcons like that then its canon. Its a good theory though that ties all the games together, and Doomguy does look a lot like BJ, so I would bet on XPiratez going with this theory if Doomguy gets mentioned at all.

Oh God what if in this canon it's Gal Marine.
Female Doomguy is already sort of a thing, though not the same character.

I presume its related to the public not seeing our efforts as fully justified. While killing a target gives you everything they were carrying up front, the Robbery mechanic is hypothetically supposed to be more lucrative in the long run once you've done enough interrogations, and it means you didn't have to murder a person to get your point across. So I think missions where you have to fight an obvious enemy force like the Humanists won't penalize you but every other mission where you can hypothetically not kill anyone to complete it will give you negative points for just butchering everything on the map.

I abhor pacifist runs though so I don't give a single fuck, at least not for right now.

killing (((Civilian))) targets nets a decrease in points, these are usually tough guys/gals drifters or other trash you get on temple raids, even though they are armed and will happily shoot at you, if you kill them it results in negative infamy.

this is most relevant when attacking civillian shipping when the whole crew will be civvies, but the infamy loss is usually pretty minimal a good mission should override petty infamy loss

In regards to fucky corners, due to the diagonal move mechanic to hidden passages in caves it means on certain diagonal corners some fucky stuff can happen like I usually find the front guardposts on the warehouse mission you can usually melee the guys on the inside from outside on the corners when diagonal to them

also yes, ransom the damsels, bills gotta be paid yo... until we can enslave them anyway for passive income and storage space bonuses

There is also a set of Novels where he is named Flynn Tagart.

Given how that set of novels seemed to have been written in spirit of the Doom Comic (aka high on meth and hallucinogens of your choice), it was understandable that they were treated as what-ifs. (Seriously, the third and fourth books got weird.)

That said, I was confused how the thread segued into Doom talk until I read the updates. Ho boy. Yeah, I'm gonna play this mod now. I never expected they'd do a crossover with Doom too.

(Seriously, the third and fourth books got weird.)
Yes they fucking did..but the first two were okay.

Also I am 100% in for Doom Demons in this, its a giant ball of Insanity so open the gates of hell. I WILL HONK AND SPRAY UNTIL THEY CALL ME THE SELTZER

Its truly amazing how no one has died yet, in the other XCOM games most of us would be on our second clone by now.
because gals have a natural 30 protection and a big health pool compared to baseline humans which means they can tank a lot of early game punishment from the shit weapons like revolvers and ol riffles. So your gals usually end up bleeding to death or because of the expanded health pool you end up with months of medbay time

My shitbox legit doesn't have the space to record three or four hours of video for me to comb over honestly. I'm a leftie anyway and use the mouse right handed and the game is almost totally controlled by mouse anyway so its not actually too awkward, I just need to pay better attention than I do honestly.
I know that Nvidia's Shadowplay allows you to start and stop recording with a hotkey and you can turn on the "instant replay" option that'll (I think, I'm not sure) autosave the last 5 minutes or so of action to a videofile. Have you considered anything like that to help you get those action frames?
Also can't wait to get included into this playthrough just to die instantly knowing my luck.

I do have to say I do not envy you on the big fuckoff complex maps of later game missions. Clearing every room of the map takes like an hour for bughunt to pick them up near where you fucking started with like 3-5 z-levels of overdesigned fucking trash

The "Instant replay" would be the most interesting thing to save space but who knows what he's running it on. For going frame by frame in files like that I would recommend MPC-HC and binding "frame step forward" and "frame step back" to two different key, then use the 1+, 5+ and 20+ second keys to scrub through the material. Find the frame you want, press ALT+I and save it, it will use the name of the file AND be numbered in exact time/frame, if a file name conflict occurs it's because you're trying to cap the same frame again. In the end it's all labeled chronologically.

Ok, sorry for doublepost but I wanted to expand on what I mentioned above and show how it works. I think the Instant Replay(AMD have something similar, probably something with FIRE in the name, of course) can be configured to be less than five minutes, maybe the last 60 seconds or 2 minutes is better for @L50LasPak. Saves space, saves time jumping through them to find that moment later.

Here's the config (and explanation) for MPC-HC to make something like this easier.
Uncheck "Seek on keyframe" under "Tweaks", otherwise it only seeks to keyframes, for performance reasons, and for Nvidia/AMD hardware encoding that is very likely to be 10 seconds. That is too much. Above that is the general jump/skip distance, 1sec, 5sec and 20sec - can be configured as well.
mpc_piratez1.JPG

Next up is hotkey/shortcuts, located in "keys" under player at the left top, forgot to highlight that part. Use the search bar to find these settings.
Bind short, medium and long to something that makes sense, my bindings does not make sense but Z(short), X(medium) and C(long) puts them in an easily accessable row. Below that screen is jump backwards, A S D right above the keys above would make sense IMO for easy jumping around, like Z for jumping forward a 1 second, A just above it to jump back and so on. Whatever floats your partyvan.
mpc_piratez_keys1.JPG
mpc_piratez2.JPG

Next up, stepping through individual frames for screenshots! The most important part in this thing. Putting that on Q and W for back and forward might make sense, everything so far is controlled by the left hand so the right can study bootypedia. Frame-seek can be a little bit wonkey and sometimes you might have to hammer the key a couple of times(or skip 1 second back then 1 forward) for it to engage, especially if backing up.
mpc_piratez3.JPG

After that, "Save Image", put that on another key if you want. The name of the file will be [video_filename]_[hh:mm:ss:exact frame].jpg(or something like that), so screens can be taken out of chronological order and they will still be saved in chronological order without user intervention - the filename can still be changed when saving. You can even make a macro that presses enter when the save dialogue pops up so that it's just a single button press to save an image.
mpc_piratez0.JPG

I would recommend outputting to h/x264, the difference in visual quality have been minimal in my opinion and it is less taxing on the video player/CPU when doing something like this.

Another possibility with this(and an extra burden...) is that if at some point something really cool happen you can easily cut out a 5-10 second clip in less than a minute and post it. I prefer text and images, but you never know...

For a moment there I thought we were in trouble when Peasant got set on fire, but Judge Dredd kept her cool.

screen039.png
screen035.png

Incase it wasn't obvious, the Guild uses the spritework done for the original XCOM as well as the various additions made by modders to OpenXCOM to expand the game a little. For instance, the armor the Guild Security wears is an early stepping stone added between having no armor and the Personnel Armor.

Other miscellaneous research completes, nothing super notable. Data Mining allows us to expend the Personal Database loot we've been recovering to receive Decrypted Data Disks, which is a long and time consuming process for research we currently have plenty of at the moment. It may prove useful in the future though if we run low on disks.

screen054.png
screen068.png
screen069.png

Our enemies this time appear to be... more pirates! Some fucks are trying to muscle in on our action!

screen071.png

They've also all decided to make the questionable choice of sallying forth to meet us with their full strength instead of taking cover in their base. We could form a firing line and just systematically waste these fuckers with buckshot.

screen075.png
screen076.png
screen078.png

Or I could just do this.

screen082.png
screen084.png
screen087.png

The explosions take out all but two of them. The one on the rooftop puts up a pretty good fight but we eventually shoot her down.

screen092.png
screen093.png
screen096.png

screen098.png

Overall that mission was a total breeze, nobody's even wounded. The new Condemnation is appropriate.

screen103.png
screen104.png
screen106.png

I crack open those strongboxes and supply crates in between missions. Here's a decent crossection of the loot you can expect to find in them. Additionally I order enough Hellerium Charms to be manufactured for every Gal to be equipped with them. They glow like the original Electro-Flares from the original if you drop them on the ground, but I had misunderstood their description text as thinking that also happens while they're being held which is not the case.

screen107.png
screen108.png

screen121.png

Some more miscellaneous research.

screen117.png
screen369.png
screen370.png
screen371.png
screen372.png
screen373.png

We also research Mutant Origins, an important milestone that gives us an overview of the other mutant stereotypes. These are the civilians we've been seeing out on Mutant Pogrom missions.

snaketits.png

Yes, that is a snake chick with tits. No, I don't think they're recruitable. Or if they are I haven't gotten that far into the game yet.

screen112.png

At some point we encounter an oldschool bomber plane flying around. As we still don't have an armed vehicle we have no means of shooting it down, and this thing is capable of staying in the air a lot longer than we are for the time being.

screen125.png

This mission is essentially a repeat of the regular Temple Raid missions, with the difference that your pirates are restricted to concealable weapons and not allowed to bring regular armor or any otherwise incriminating outfits. But showing up in full pirate garb is still fair game for some reason, even though you'd think that would alert the targets. At least there are also fewer enemies.

screen128.png
screen133.png
screen140.png
screen149.png
screen154.png
screen156.png
screen157.png
screen161.png

Christ that was way easier than I remember it being. Instead of only like a handful of enemies it was basically like doing a pistol run of the regular Temple of Sirius missions originally. Also, the deagle is a much better weapon than I remember it being.

screen166.png
screen042.png

I immediately order enough of them to outfit the entire squad. I also get our first Aircar ordered; we need to be able to shoot down enemy vehicles sooner rather than later.

screen046.png
screen047.png

As the car has a red color scheme I elect to name it Christine. After the movie, not Chrischan. We still don't have anything to arm the vehicle with though.

screen164.png
screen165.png
screen175.png

We research a milestone for Steam Power, but it doesn't really lead to anything special at the moment. We also finish up research on the Black Cat, which much like the Parrot I won't be taking into battle because it just instantly gets shot by the first enemy that spots it. I also research the Mutant Porn item, which is actually quite integral to the game considering we've needed to use one unit of it to recruit all of our Gals.

screen168.png

Since we're not broke anymore I finally shell out for the Personal Labs that our researchers and the game has been pestering me for.

screen184.png

Hmm, you know what, I'm starting to think this picture has Biden and Obama's faces photoshopped into it. Who's the dude in the back though?

screen186.png
screen204.png
screen206.png
screen211.png
screen225.png

These posers again. That chest looks really valuable and fragile, so I try to take everyone out with only aimed shots. Somebody gets a reaction fire off at the end though.

screen229.png
screen230.png
screen231.png
screen232.png
screen234.png

I don't see the chest in with the rest of the loot, that reaction shot must've destroyed it. Fuck!

screen235.png
screen237.png
screen239.png

screen253.png
screen254.png
screen255.png

The chocolate bar looks like it might be a good solution to some of our weaker Gals running out of Energy, but honestly that hasn't been anywhere near as much of a problem this game as it was in the last two.

screen241.png
Planet Express Ship.png

We don't manage to chase this ship to its landing site, but I figured I'd mention that the seafoam green color scheme is probably supposed to be reminiscent of the Planet Express Ship from Futurama, though its missing the red hull line.

screen243.png
screen244.png

The month ends with little of note to report.

I finally bump the number of Brainers I have up to ten, which is probably still behind where the game thinks I should be.

A lot of interrogations this time around, to the point where the game sees fit to give us a tip on interrogations. I don't think it was programmed to do that either, just a weird coincidence.

screen497.png
screen506.png
screen502.png

We researched enough factions in one shot that I felt the need to separate them out. Nice to see the Gillmen are still lurking around somewhere, though XPiratez adds to the Tasoth/Deep One confusion by referring to the Gillmen as Deep Ones now!

I honestly don't know enough about comic books to determine who popularized the term The Most Common Superpower but I generally associate it with TVTropes so if anyone can offer a better origin for it that'd be helpful. In other news Medicine unlocks a ridiculous amount of medical research, the big one being a fucking Sickbay which will finally allow us to reduce the amount of time a Gal spends wounded to a reasonable level.

screen709.png
screen718.png
screen731.png

The Steamhammer is an impressive weapon, though its immense weight and Time Unit cost makes it less than ideal for the kind of work we do. The Signet Ring will be important later.

screen716.png
screen714.png
screen733.png

The Gals asked me why I told them such a sad story, and why Sam didn't take back his steamhammer and take revenge on the society that abandoned him. I think my explanation just confused them more. Later on, we take on two more hostages including another Damsel which I suppose I'm going to have to make up my mind about shortly.

screen724.png

Finally.

screen726.png
screen727.png
screen728.png
screen729.png

Here's an overview of all the ship we can research now that the Personal Labs have been constructed.

screen765.png

screen763.png

Some more miscellaneous research completes, most of it being random junk since it dates back to before the Personal Labs completed. I know the background with the naked chick is just a generic one for the various tamed animals, but considering it shows her with a dog, well, you know how this goes, white girls fuck dogs. I presume that's not an intentional reference.

screen753.png
screen756.png

Super Sad Smile, apparently unhappy with how I've been distributing the loot and unhappy with how few missions she's been on, challenges little old me to a duel while Witty is out cold sleeping off a hangover. I notice too late she's cornered me in the Runt pens and the door is already locked as all 55 Runts ditch whatever they were working on to come and gawk at their captain getting gutted like a fish.

Fortunately, Super Sad is so drunk she stumbles backwards and passes out into the crowd before she can make her first lunge. The door flies open a moment later and I'm able to get out of the room chased only by cries of "Haxx!" from the Runts. I cool off sharing a keg with the head Brainer who saved my ass when she peeked in to check on some task she delegated to the Runts.

The event specifies "the dumbest" of your Gals, and there's no general Intelligence stat so I just arbitrarily went by Reactions which Super Sad Smile had the lowest of at 54. Unless we're just supposed to assume whoever has the gall to challenge you to a duel is automatically the dumbest of your Gals just by default.

screen768.png
screen769.png

The month ends. Humorously, its October this time, which just reminds me that the last update to this thread was in October of this year and its now currently November.

screen770.png

FINALLY.

screen771.png

DO IT.

screen772.png
screen776.png

Yeah yeah I know I'm too slow at this game. Hasn't killed everyone yet.

screen781.png
screen785.png

Disc is finally tough enough to use something other than a pistol.

screen792.png
screen795.png
screen815.png
screen816.png
screen817.png
screen818.png

Generally my goal for every battle Disc participates in is for her to get at least one kill to ensure her stats improve.

screen820.png
screen822.png

Why am I randomly recruiting just one Gal at this time? Its a long story.

@Bezmenov

Bezmenov.png

Fortunately for both me and Bezz his Gal is tough enough that she can already wear the Warrior armor and carry at least one piece of the default equipment, so she's able to get into the fight right away pretty much.

screen832.png
screen833.png

I normally would have more laser weapons researched by now but since we haven't needed them for anything important I elect to start us off with this rare random drop. This opens up the first in a very, very long chain of research that will, Laser Gods willing, allow us to get our hands back on the unlimited ammo hot rod cherry red lasers from the first game. We're a long ways off from that for now though.

screen829.png
screen835.png
screen840.png
screen843.png

Miscellaneous research in the mean time. There's apparently an entire tree attached to swimsuits and bikinis now that I'm not sure is super useful, but I'm researching it anyway.

Jesus!

Niggermancer, on fire, doesn't bat an eyelash and calmly reloads her shotgun, then blasts the old bastard.

screen928.png
screen929.png
screen931.png
screen932.png

She takes him alive too!

screen930.png

Moths reaches the rank of Boss Gal, which I honestly was expecting the game to award her a bit earlier but I guess all that time spent wounded really dragged her down.
