Happy Anniversary to them getting Richard Spencer more popular.
VoidBurger and pals have decided that David Cage (the guy that created Indigo Prophesy, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls etc) is a bigot for some reason and are supporting ruining him:

For anyone interested in what Cage's alleged crimes are: some humorous images of staff members edited so that they're wearing Nazi uniforms and are in "sexual positions", working staff too hard and not listening to feedback, making unspecified racist and sexist remarks/jokes, another person allegedly hitting on women at a party, having a team that is mostly men, having an image of a penis on the wall and joking with a security guard about a Tunisian criminal being their cousin:

Three separate French reports published this afternoon level serious allegations of unhealthy studio culture at Quantic Dream, developer of Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and the upcoming PlayStation 4 game Detroit: Become Human.

Quantic Dream leaders David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière are accused of inappropriate behaviour, overworking staff and colluding in - or at least turning a blind eye to - a schoolboy culture involving sexist and racist jokes.

For their part, Cage and de Fondaumière fiercely deny all allegations, saying they are "very surprised" and "shocked" by the "rantings" of former employees, according to Le Monde's report.

One particular area of contention is a cache of some 600 controversial photoshopped images dating back to 2013. Canard PC's report has a header image with some of the photoshopped pictures in. Mediapart's is the third report.

"The most shocking [images] present Quantic Dream's collaborators in sexual positions, adorned with homophobic or sexist slurs, or even made up to look like Nazis," said Le Monde's report, translated by Eurogamer.

The photoshopped images were apparently sent in group emails around the company, including to recipients Cage and de Fondaumière. But it was only in early 2017, when the company's IT manager was the subject of a photoshopped image, the full cache was found and complaints made. Cage and de Fondaumière claimed not to have seen the worst images before then, only ones which "were funny or more or less amusing".

But this cache of controversial images became the jumping off point for a deeper look at life at Quantic Dream - a studio of 180 people, 83 per cent of which are apparently male, and where there is reportedly a picture of a penis with farting testes on the wall.

Cage, particularly, is painted as a figure hard to work with. He is apparently ironically nicknamed "Papa", "God" and "Sun King" for his autocratic approach to working, for demanding long hours and for not listening to others.

Cage is also accused of a lack of consideration for female colleagues, and of making insistent dirty jokes, smutty remarks in the presence of his wife, and inappropriate remarks about actresses in his games.

"David Cage has a very particular viewpoint on how he runs his studio, which in his own words he sees as a private, or a semi-private, space," said one former employee. "He feels he has the right to say whatever he wants, it's his place."

Others have apparently witnessed homophobic or racist jokes. One incident involved a burglary caught on CCTV. After watching, Cage allegedly asked an employee of Tunisian origin, "Is that a cousin of yours?"

Cage said the allegations were "ridiculous, absurd and grotesque".

"You want to talk about homophobia?" he said. "I work with Ellen Page, who fights for LGBT rights. You want to talk about racism? I work with Jesse Williams, who fights for civil rights in the USA... Judge me by my work."

Quantic co-founder Guillaume de Fondaumière is also targeted by former employees for sleazy behaviour, such as allegedly hitting on staff at parties and pushing kisses on them. "I will be extremely clear: it's absolutely false," responded de Fondaumière. "None of any of this happened at any evening event."

The allegations will undermine the upcoming release of Detroit: Become Human, a game which has already stirred high profile controversy for a sequence involving domestic and child abuse.

Detroit: Become Human is due for release this spring.

So VB uploaded a top 10 of 2017 list. But I am on my phone and don't feel she deserves my ad revenue (as small as it is) so can someone abridge that bs please

I'm just skimming this shit cause I hate her voice

But she starts out with :

"Best games I watched my BF play" :

* Persona 5
* Breath of the Wild
* Yakuza 0
* Resident Evil 7

"Biggest dissapointment of 2017" is Yooka-Laylee. Also she uses some weird voice mod to make it sound all robotic and shit and it's pretty cringey.

Onto the top 10!

#10 : The Evil Within 2
#9: Detention (By Red Candle Games, no idea wtf this game is)
#8 : Stories Untold (By No Code, again no fucking clue what this game is)
#7 : Cook, Serve, Delicious 2 (By Vertigo Gaming, this one I do know of!)
#6 : Sonic Mania
#5 : Super Mario Odyssey
#4 : The Sexy Brutale (Which was on a lot of alternative reviewer's top lists this year it seems, haven't played it so I have no idea if it's good)
#3 : Night in the woods (Big surprise, not really.)
#2 : Doki Doki Literature club
#1 : Nier Automata

No idea what she says about each entry, can't be fucked to actually listen to her go on about shit like this, but there ya go!

I'm surprised she didn't bitch about 2B being almost naked (even though she's an Android so.. ) or bitch about the "slit shaming" in p5. I guess I just see her hating good games cause sjws did.

I’ve never played Stories Untold either but it did make a RPS list of most underrated games of the year so idk, maybe it’s good

I know it's just a quick and dirty video but I wish VB would go into more detail about what she liked about each game. I mean I get that she didn't want to stretch this into a half hour long thing but for nearly every entry it was just "oh the characters were relatable and it had a quirky story."

For all the verbal diarrhea she spews on meaningless garbage, she should have spewed it into a review.

So upon further research, the 4 games on that list I assume most people haven't heard of (Detention, Stories Untold, The Sexy Brutale, Night in the Woods) are all the same "indie atmospheric walking sim/horror" shitfest you've probably played a dozen times already.

Predictably, the same sorts of games that have won awards from indie/alternate reviewers for at least 7 years now.

Aww look at VB trying to appeal to the indie crowd cause she went to an art school. Too bad her views on games are garbage and she just mentions how "PC" games should be.

The Sexy Brutale sounds like a 3-D Ghost Trick anti-murder puzzle simulator. The ending is usual reveal about you being in a hell of your own making because you are a bad person.

Stories Untold is a walking simulator slathered in supermeta alterate reality sauce. With the ending being a reveal about you being in a hell of your own making because you are a bad person.

Detention is some Taiwanese bullshit. I don't know, moonrunes and w/e. I'm pretty sure the ending is a reveal about you being in a hell of your own making because you are a bad person.

NitW is a walking simulator with "story not game-play driven" gameplay. AKA its a game for people who hate games themselves. The ending is something about how small towns need to die quietly and stop making such a fuss, and stuff about capitalism only able to exist because the machines run off of the blood of the poor. There is no reveal, you're in a hell of your own making because you're playing a visual novel, only the Waifus are replaced with the smell of your own farts.

Great, and DDLC is basically the same thing as those.

Which to be fair, if you actually like that then it makes sense that all of these games would be enjoyable for you.

Detention is about a Taiwanese schoolgirl who falls in love with her therapist, pretty much snaps when he doesn't reciprocate, and proceeds to snitch on him, her classmates and teachers to the government (they were all in a book club sharing illegal books). They either escape, get imprisoned or executed, after which she commits suicide and the game turns out to be a "YOU WERE DEAD ALL ALONG!" type twist.
I find this amusing because if martial law were still a thing, our intrepid LPers here would be the first to snitch on others to a dictatorial government.
