Caught up with the thread, the fact that Retsupurae is pretty much dead is kinda sad. I always liked Diabetus quite a bit, but whatever he's doing now, I'm glad he's graduated from goonhood and is doing that instead of wanking over shitty LPs with Slowbeef and trying to keep the good ol' days alive. I feel like you can't keep a channel going where you mock people when you also want to be a social justice type and be accepting of everyone; you really can't have it both ways.

I remember an old retsuprae podcast with them and all she did was bitch that Twin Perfect is "hypocritical" because they called out Christopher Gans as being a misogynist for rewriting Harry into a woman (because only a woman would apparently search for their kid?) while in the same review calling Cybil a bitch dyke because of that hair.

If it wasn't, they would claim TP was making up shit and taking Hulette's quotes out of context (they weren't).

Irony is, Fungo was still with TP at the time and Void and friends mocked the fuck out of his awful bowl cut he had at the time. Then Fungo went off to backstab the other guys and join Something Awful for... reasons? They had the drama explained on their website before nuking the forums.

While I don't know if Fungo is a real goon or not, he sure is living it up to the goon lifestyle by apparently abusing his girlfriend while hiding behind moral authority.

Stuff like this is probably the real reason that Slowbeef privated the Billy videos. If Slowbeef actually gave a fuck about upsetting Billy he would have removed them years ago. What he (and maybe Diabetus) is worried about is all the politically incorrect jokes and behaviour in those old videos that could get them #cancelled by woke retards.

It's because Voidburger, as with most text LPs in general, let the game do the talking. Half because you're aware that the game's atmosphere speaks for itself when you decide to do text, and half because writing text for every single moment of the game is probably incredibly tedious.

Speaking of text-based LPs, I'm reminded of a monstrously horrible screenshot LP of one of the Megaman Zero games. The guy was trying way, way too hard to be funny and wrapped around to being hilariously bad. Through text, he was commentating over the opening cutscene to the game where a character's first line of dialogue as they ran away is "*pant* *pant* *gasp*." Cue the guy writing a paragraph for a single. 240p picture that basically went (by no exaggeration):

"Here we see the female lead playing my favorite childhood game, 'pant pant gasp.' It's like 'duck duck goose' but instead of saying 'duck' you pant and instead of saying 'goose' you gasp. When you gasp, the person you gasped at has to chase you before you sit down in their spot while you pant, pant, and gasp while running away. If you sit down in their spot, you win, and now they have to play 'pant pant gasp' in your place."

Every screenshot had jokes precisely like this (in length and verbosity), and I believe it was the creator's very first (and only) post in the entire forum. He didn't even get to actual gameplay, it was just the short, two-minute cutscene at the start and he called it quits. He went dead silent as people posted shocked bemusement at his bowel movement, peaking with a video demonstrating how wordy his LP was. The video was just the screenshots he posted, shown on-screen for three seconds at a time, with the text for each screenshot overlaid on top. A majority of the screenshots were completely covered by word after unfunny word which were unreadable due to the sheer density of it all.

It got locked the very day it was posted by Slowbeef, I think, who also commented basically saying the posts in response were much funnier than the actual LP. He might have even given the guy an ultimatum of post more or get banned. I don't know if it's possible to find that thread again, which is a shame because it's one of the moments of SA which stick out the most to me.

Did anyone watch the Runbutton guys? They're known for doing a complete Sonic and Mario series LP's.

They would treat their LP's as a poor standup routine, the younger cousin in particular. A real poor mans game grumps because they'd waste their time doing a bit and miss info they needed.

Not sure why I put up with them since trying to listen to them now is so benign, guess they were just background noise while I worked since thats only use I get out of them, but they only stick out to me because I remember the rare time I checked someones twitter and saw them pimping out Zoe Quinn's early GG post back when I didn't know anything was even going on.

I also was wrong, Voidberger wasn't on retsuprae's podcast but their podcast because they started a Silent Hill run which I guess almost ten yeasr later they're finally getting through Silent Hill 4.

I really don't think RP had to worry about that near the end. The last 5~6 years of their content prove that the goons are just totally fine with people making fun of bad games. And you barely need to hold back on the insults while you're at it, because game devs aren't real people.
They had a pretty comfortable niche going, since there's always hot garbage coming out every year (Just from the last couple of years we have clusterfucks like Crying is not Enough and Left Alive, both perfect targets for riffs), and even when they're feeling too lazy to watch a longplay for a couple of hours they can always just look for easy targets on kickstarter or Newgrounds.

I mean, sure, maybe at some point the collective SA hivemind is going to suddenly decide that bad games are suddenly no longer acceptable targets, but it hasn't happened yet and I frankly don't see that happening in the near future.
