I participated in some race thread with her like 12 years ago, and it didn't even occur to me she might be anything other than a woman. Then again, the tranny takeover of the public consciousness didn't really take place until the mid 2010's, so maybe I just didn't consider all the options.

It's so fucking dumb that they won't make Retsupuraes anymore but they'll respectively spend hours a week doing garbage streams. No time to make Retsupurae but endless time to play randomizers and random retro games over and over and whatever trash Slowbeef does.

Yeah, I don't get this either. What is it about RPs that's too much time or work for them? Most of the games are a few hours long and they almost never recorded their own footage. Beef mentioning "the brand" makes me think it's partially political but if it wasn't stopping him 5 years ago I don't see what changed.

While there's a fair amount of things you can criticize them about, I don't think ending RPs is one of them. I don't think it has anything to do with how easy/hard it is, but they just aren't interested anymore. It happens, and I'd rather see a content creator stop doing a series they don't care about versus trying to force it and producing content that ultimately satisfies no one because there's no energy behind it. The fact they've been sitting on a partially finished one and haven't been able to find the time to finish it speaks volumes about what they want to be doing.
I think the internet landscape has also changed a fair bit since they started doing it. I don't remember it ever being that big to begin with, they were always on the smaller side as far as content creators go. And back then there weren't as many people ripping on bad games/playthroughs. Today, that's not exactly a niche area, and on the content creating side of things, yeah, there's plenty of bad stuff, but it's more boring bad as opposed to the old days of camcorder LPs.

They were far from being NiggerStomper58, but a decade on their videos already forced to carry "Ok look these were made in the dark days of the 2010s when Gamer Words were common we didn't mean to be racists please don't cancel us" warning labels.
Imagine trying to skewer low-quality content when you can't even say Retard, let alone call it gay, or rhetorically ask "Can you believe this nigga?" no matter how soft you make that r.
The only safe jokes you can make now are repeating one of the twenty permitted Orange Man Bad references (anything else might be mistaken for you trying to sneak in praise). And God forbid that insufferable muppet voice you're laughing at ends up belonging to a tranny - if that happens you might as well just write a haiku about donating to a TransRights charity and open your belly to remove the stain on your family's honor before the mob comes for your head.
Even just the name Retsuprae gets the occasional pearls being clutched for encouraging violence against Asian Americans perpetrated by blacks.

Yeah, I understand that. I didn't intend to come off as sour grapes. If they never touched the channel again I could live with it since as is it's a nice little archive of niche Internet history.
I'm not sold on this though because that was never really Retsupurae's sense of humour except in the primordial days of shitting on camcorder LPs. Off the top of my head I can't think of any RP content that was contaminated by woke goon politics. They all just stopped doing it instead.

That's what I'm saying; you were asking why they stopped making them given the relatively low effort that goes into of playing a crappy game/watching a crapping LP and just talking over it and making jokes.
The issue is jokes are problematic. They were hardly edgy back in the day, but as you point out they didn't stick to solely progressive talking points. Due to this they have already had to slap content warnings on their 10 year old videos like they were the 1937 animated short "Bugs Bunny Lynches a Nigger".
So it is pretty clear they stopped because given the issues they've already dealt with (fairly recent & rather tame content being declared problematic and having put a 'gamer words' disclaimer on it, and even the name Retsuprae also getting twitterati clutching pearls when they learn the origin) that if they did keep going, they would only be able to use bland 'woke' humor. Plus they would also have needed to be careful of what content they lampoon lest they make fun of some tranny darling's minitum opus, or accidently let a 'retarded' slip on stream, or be worried about getting too big of a following and have the twitter mob to rip their lives apart because in 2009 they called some videogame character a faggot.
Just not worth it.

It's also because it's antagonistic. Part of the huge umbrella of "wokeness" is "punching up" and not "punching down". Beef and Betus beating up on shitty LPers who can't even afford a capture card/decent camera/decent microphone is entirely punching down - which is verboten in this day and age. It's the same reason Something Awful stopped invading forums, posting an Awful Link of the Day, and trying to swerve away from making fun of "crazy" people.
You aren't allowed to be a "good content creator" and bully random (and not approved) targets. That's entirely what RP was, so they clearly just abandoned it rather than try and do it with the new rules.

Retsupurae incurred a lot of problems. Most bad lps are by autistic people or trannies who lack all self-awareness or social queues. Girls seeking attention are entirely off the table. And if they go for someone big they always run the issue of copyright strikes which they already had a problem with, theyre on their 4th channel or so already. Even then its always going to be seen as bullying which is a no-go now. The concept doesn't work in today's social climate and won't fly with their friends. A final sign off wouldve been nice but if they do it now it'd make little sense.

It's also pretty rare to find an extremely bad Let's Player these days - it's not the early 2000s anymore where this shit is completely alien to everyone. The worst you'll run into is "this person sounds nervous and doesn't talk that much".
Second hand capture cards are extremely plentiful, a decent webcam is extremely cheap, as is a decent microphone. It's a hobby you can try out for like $150 in 2022 and chances are one of your friends/cowokers/people on your local area reddit will just have this shit laying around if you really want to try it and really can't afford it. The production quality has skyrocketed in the last few years - no one is running unlicensed FRAPS anymore.
A lot of hobbyists setups look better than professional setups (compare, for example, some fucking rando's twitch stream to Giantbomb's setup in 2022, lmao). SA (and most 'professional' journalists/reviewers/etc) setups actually look worse than most hobby streams and by a wide margin.

It's also worth noting that the existing retsupurae channel exists on an unspoken grandfather clause, as most of their targets have since come and gone. If they peaked their heads back out at this point, Susan would pull their channel so fast our heads would spin. Hell, I think I recall slowbeef was already getting some troll's remorse, as I'm pretty sure they pulled down their BillyMC videos because they were tired of people harassing him.
There's a part of me hoping that they go to Gumroad as they won't have to deal with the monster YouTube has become, but it doesn't do much about the rabid SA fanbase gunning for them. And as others have pointed out, the means for higher production values are within the grasp of someone of modest means. Shit if I had to criticize the current atmosphere of YouTube, I'd say the problem is everything's too overproduced and safe. How many ways are there to say "this content blends together into the endless sludge that is algorithm approved content in 2022." The RLM guys did great lampooning this with their Nerd Crew podcast, but it's clear the joke will only play for so long before it becomes stale.
