I miss the old days when you could make fun of people and call them faggots and left it at that. The troons that now say Retsu was bullying the retarded are calling for streamers to be swatted for playing Hogwards, and they made a hit list so they can go out and attack those that defied them.

There is a difference between being made fun of and being harassed, and it turns out that in an "anti-bully" world the worst people never get molded into a better person and they turn into sensitive cows that run roughshod into oblivion trying to escape people that mildly disagree with them.

Retsupurae got so big in the first place because it filled a need that a lot of people have, what do people have today to get their fix, there are no riffs, no rants, no roasts, no angry reviews, it's all sanitized safe shit. And while you are stuck watching boring corporate drivel and being forced to give false praise to people so they don't cry the crazies enforcing this are outside burning the world down and cutting your son's dick off.

BillyMC is too sweet and innocent for this world. I hope his mother did get him that cheeseburger for Christmas to brighten his day. The only thing that will brighten my day is seeing the "IT'S ***MINORITIES!" guy shoved into a locker.

I think this is a pretty good summary of why RP worked as well as it did. I think Beef could sometimes come off as smug and occasionally tried to force the "angry guy" schtick a little too much, but it never felt like he was legitimately mad, and for the most part, they only went after randos they knew nothing about. There was no personal drama, which is a big difference with similar content that comes out today, which is more based on feuds and actively trying to get someone cancelled.

It's not quite the same, but the only thing I can think of that comes kinda close to that attitude is Best of the Worst from Red Letter Media. Namely episodes where they're just watching random B movies from the 80's and 90's. They'll tear into them, but it clearly isn't anything personal and done in good fun.

As far as the BillyMC discourse goes, I'm sure he's a nice guy and all but his LPs were very bad and Retsu making fun of them was more often than not very funny. The McDonald's for Christmas bit was great. It's one of the quotes from Retsupurae I still remember to this day, along with basically the entire Cornshaq video and Proteus saying if his kid made an LP as bad as red camcorder nightmare he would kill him. And in the aforementioned red camcorder nightmare RP, Proteus says "I don't care if he's four" which I think is very valid for the entire "making fun of Let's Plays" genre. It doesn't matter that BillyMC was a kid, all bad LPs are fair game. The weens who went after Billy and ruined it are pretty fucking gay, but the RPs themselves still hold up IMO.

Any Wagner employees who are Russian citizens (and in uniform) are not considered 'terrorists' or 'mercenaries' they are lawful combatants under the Geneva convention. Even the ones who aren't Russian citizens are likely to be classes and such and swept under the rug with 'and.. they're like residents or something, anything that lets us not address the thorny issues of state-hired soldiers, because they UN prohibition on mercenaries was to stop private armies from doing coups, not to stop governments from getting soldiers-for-hire'.

So if he was to have French Lady - who is totally sexy and badass an into him but not with him because they already tried and it didn't work and she's going to a school in canada you've never heard of - she would be committing war crimes by executing prisoners of war. In fact, unless she is working directly for the Ukraine government, she would be the one who's the mercenary and not entitle to protection under the Geneva convention.

In fact, more than that: if she's not a Ukrainian citizen (or I guess a Russian citizen), as they are the only two countries directly involved in the conflict currently, since she's directly participating in the conflict for material gain she is an illegal mercenary per the UN convention on mercenaries and a war criminal.

Dark ID himself is actually skirting the line of being a war criminal, and only the fact he's claiming to only provide support and not directly participate would make exempt, but still (if this wasn't just a gay larp) could find himself getting ICC'd for war crimes caused by the (imaginary) soldiers under his (gay LARP) command.
