Yeah so that was me due to a couple of reasons: i didnt watch it right away so i wasnt sure if it was that pertinent seeming as it wasnt really a sperg out.
Basically Thornbrain as the non cis non straight(i know he had a gf in the past so he probably thinks hes a lesbian now but he could also be bi) person of the group felt the need to speak up and say that making cross dressing a joke i wrong and so is cross dressing to "invade a womens only space". Skippy granola and yaminosenshi admonish themselves for being straight cis men and the group brings up the bathroom bill although Link would probably have less problems getting into female bathrooms than the people who complained about it. The comments section has been heavily preened of any comment that was at all critical of his point even though everything was very civil.
heres the video, ive time coded it for when they start talking about it and it goes on for about 5 mins:

I checked thornbrains twitter and it doesnt have anything in his bio as being a woman/nonbinary and im not sure about his havest moon animal parade, rune factory or story of season lp's which have all been released at the same time as BOTW.
My hot take is that no one who notices you are a man in the city cares about you being a man, the segregation doesnt help anyone which can be seen as all the gerudo are obsessed with guys like teenage boys are about girls and obviously doesnt help the male traders who cant get into the city. The situation is far more apt as commentary about how segregation especially for the sake of tradition is always going to be a negative to society.
Does that make Thornbrain a TERF?

Kinda late, but I'm still going to ask what exactly people liked about ChipCheezum and when exactly do they think he turned SJW. I ask because I think he was one from the start and I never understood why people liked him.

He was even more judgmental in 2009 than slowbeef and his SA friends on Touhou stream. People chewed slowbeef out because his favorite games are anime-styled as well, but he went all out with "ewwwww anime" with them. On the other hand, ChipCheezum had this Chobits RP where he and Ironicus spend half of the roast roasting the person LPing, and the other half commenting on how they don't like anime, how creepy it is, that it's a bad adaptation, that the source material is bad (bad adaptation of a source material I never read, makes sense). And the comment section is pretty much "disgusting male fantasy" and "well, it's from patriarchal Japanese society". Which is absolutely hilarious, considering it's been written and drawn by women-only circle focusing on for-girls stories. People around him definitely seemed to be SJWs from the start.

I know that SA is pretty anti-anime, which makes me question how many hug-pillows does an average SA member own.

I'm only speaking for myself, but I liked how much effort he put into the LPs and the chemistry between him and Ironicus.

Possibly he has always been one. The thing is, that was never apparent in the content he made until fairly recently.
He was even more judgmental in 2009 than slowbeef and his SA friends on Touhou stream.
I don't think I've seen the stream you're refering to, but I'm guessing his issue was with the sexualized Touhou characters that look like little girls?

Now, I do remember that video. That was the one where some creepy guy played a visual novel where some pervert tries to molest little girls. And it's based on that creepy cartoon where a guy adopts a child robot or some such bullshit. Calling out the sexualization of children, which is very common in Japanese cartoons and videogames, isn't being an SJW.
And the comment section is pretty much "disgusting male fantasy" and "well, it's from patriarchal Japanese society".
Chip isn't really responsible for what people say in the comments.

I don't know about Chobit's background, but it being made by women doesn't change how creepy it is, sorry.

Anime is gay shit and deserves to be made fun of.

I never liked any of these try hard faggots, they're just fun to laugh at.

To address your other points
Anime is gay shit and deserves to be made fun of.

They are as sexual as random kid on the street. They are fully dressed in pre-westernized clothing. If you see that as sexual, something is wrong with you. Slowbeef loves Snatcher, which has an underage character naked in it, but it's Kojima, so it's fine. That's what was so special about it.

It was a girl who was playing it. I don't know anything about molesting little girls, but you do seem to know quite a bit. I don't know anything about child robots, the main character is 18, the robot doesn't have it's age specified because you know, it's not like it's a human being. You could have at least watched the video I'm talking about before replying instead of just sperging out. You just literally repeated his "points" in the video. And you seem quite angry about it.
Chip isn't really responsible for what people say in the comments.
No, he isn't, but it says something about the audience he attracted. Which goes back to the question why people were that shocked.

Too bad you didn't address my question that much.

Sorry that I don't remember the details of a video I saw once, like five years ago.

When you get so angry about people disparaging anime that you start accusing people of being pedos it's time to log off.

Well, I guess if it's not technically a child but just looks exactly like one then that's not creepy at all and the cartoon isn't wish fulfilment for paedophiles.

Did I sperg out?
And you seem quite angry about it.
I'm not angry, I'm feeling kind of nonplussed as to what your issue is.
Which goes back to the question why people were that shocked.
I'm not re-reading this entire thread, but I seem to remember people's reactions being fairly mixed and nobody was really that shocked, including myself, just kind of disappointed.
Too bad you didn't address my question that much.
I'm pretty sure that I did, I gave you my opinion. Anyone else is free to chime in with their own opinions; as I said, I only speak for myself.

And I just looked up some more info on Chobits in case I was wrong about it: nope - creepy guy finds a robot that looks like a little girl and adopts it so that he can have a romantic relationship with it.

The opening song for the anime is pretty sweet, though.

You might be thinking it's a guy playing it because of this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNiOwQb7bOQ

Given the crowd he hung out with, I pretty safely assumed that Chip had an SJW mindset. It never really came up in any of his videos though, and I think more often than not his content was funny. Him and Ironicus also play well off of each other, which is saying something because on his own Ironicus is pretty insufferable. I wouldn't go so far as to say every one of their videos is gold or anything. I actually think one of their weaknesses is their longer LP series that just end up losing a lot of steam. I skipped a good chunk of Watchdogs and pretty much all of their various Uncharted LP's just because the jokes felt few and far between.

I'd argue that a lot of his stuff is entertaining, but also pretty forgettable and not something you'd ever really go back and watch again. The only content of theirs that I think I watched twice was riffing on that XIN anime thing from Newgrounds.

chip had consistently higher production quality than his peers after the first few LP's going back to rerecord levels that wernt as entertaining to watch, recording the same level several times to show of different playstyles/ things that didnt come up in the initial run and ironicus doing basically colour commentary from the perspective of someone who hasnt played to game to chips good knowledge of games and more dry delivery works pretty well.

As far as chobits is conserned CLAMP has always had a bad reputation of having teenage girls or people who appear to be teen age girls in romantic/sexual relationships with guys who are significantly older and feels kinda sleazy. I looked through the comments and i did see a couple comments saying it was sexist but there were far more either saying it just looked creepy or saying that chobits was actually good and was more insightful than just weird guy adopts child looking robot and forms romantic relationship with it.

I don't think finding Chobits creepy due to the robot girl looking young is SJW, but Chip & Ironicus did focus on the "this story is sexist and demeaning to women" thing more than they did on her puerile design from what I recall (actually, from what I saw of the video, I don't remember any 'pedo' comments at all).

They also made at least two videos mocking some female LPer with gendered insults and shitting on her physical appearance (hilarious coming from chip "manlet" cheezum), then near the end they tried to convince themselves that stuff doesn't clash with their feminist beliefs at all by implying it's ok to shit on her because she's probably not a feminist like they are. She said something like "I never liked Barbie" and they turned that into
"Wow these stupid gamer girls always claim they're 'not like the other girls", they have no self respect!"
"I'm not like the other girls, I don't care about equal pay!"

None of these people were ever actually, well... good people. They had good riffing skills years ago, but the core concept of Retsupurae has always been "LET'S TEACH THESE INTERNET PLEBS A LESSON for not practicing the Goon art of Talking Over Video Games correctly!" and a lot of it was aimed at complete nobodies, sometimes even at kids. Even back when they were funny, choosing to focus on something so petty was still extremely childish and a waste of comedic talents.

This is the reason I like his stuff. I've never really watched other streams or whatever that he's been part of so I can't speak to that, but he keeps his LPs quality.

If I was going to turn off everything made by any creator who possessed politics I don't like, I'd quit the farms and go join SA or resetera.

If he's guilty of that standard progressive "uncle tom" defense for personal hypocrisy and identity-hijacking, then that lowers my respect for him quite a bit.
