TMDb is really inconsistent with what they allow as “films”, they keep taking off Rubber Johnny by Chris Cunningham and the trappped documentaries when they qualify as films far more than most

This might be the best example of delusional reviews and comment chains I have seen on Letterboxd that spans almost an entire devade

Tankie detected, opinion invalid.

Now, one can say that this film is pretty overrated and didn't deserve to win Best Picture (I personally thought it was fine, but would have been btfo'ed in a more competitive year like 2008 (No Country for Old Men) or 2019 (Parasite), but I digress), but this guy misses the point of the film horribly. What ensues in the comment section is a nine year fight where the OP, near the end, is still somehow adamant and militant over a review made even back in the fucking Obama administration.

More recently, we got politisperging

...OP getting MATI
beegpost.png

...And OP deleting comments like a bitch, challenging anyone else in gladitorial internet debate.
youhavebeenbannedfromthechannel.png

All of this over a stupid and wrong opinion of a now 15 year old film that OP reviewed 11 years ago. The internet was a mistake.

I use the reviews a lot just to catalog my instant thoughts and feelings after watching a movie. I love lookin back at that sort of stuff regardless of whether it's a one sentence shitpost review or a few paragraphs actually analyzing the film. That being said, people who really gun hard for Internet points with their reviews are gay and retarded.

I would literally have the site owners arrested for promoting this behavior but cops are faggots too. I would seriously lock someone up in a mental hospital if they tell me what their pronouns are, let alone demanding me to respect them. I used to support LGBT back in 2015 because I was naive and I didn't expect it would end up like this. Now I have such an extreme hatred for that ideology. Though the Islamic world hates it more than I do.

This same review was actually mentioned on the farms before it got censored by a faggot moderator. I commented on how this shitty Politically Correct film was historically inaccurate but you can't have that on a faggot website. And no, don't try to maintain this house of cards and I wanted to fall so badly. I want this narrative turned on it's head so badly so I can finally cure my Meniere's disease so these sacred cows get slayed further. The fact I'm not allowed to slay sacred cows on review sites show the hypocritical nature of critical movie websites. Like operating an amusement park and offering Roller Coasters, but arresting people who ride the Roller Coasters. Adolf Hitler is by no means a perfect person and has commit the sin of suicide meaning he'd end up in hell after all but god damn he was godspeed on eliminating faggotry which is why he is so heavily demonized when he's only severely autistic.

In response to this faggotry. I changed my profile pic on this site with my famous picture of Peter Griffin shitting on an LGBT flag.

Neo Nazi's are faggots trying to realize a narrative heavily enforced on the masses. But unlike shitty movies like Schindler's List that demonize nationalists that are only undemocratic and autistic and not brutally evil. American History X is more of a hit piece of faggot skinheads who carry extremism under Hitler's name but unlike shitty movies nowadays actually give character development to the degenerate protagonist characters making them much less insufferable in the end. But god damn that lack of empathy this fucker has is fucking killing me considering Neo Nazi's were a fucking gayop to increase violence and instability in this Late Stage Capitalism shithole but it doesn't fucking help the fact you want to kill an entire group considering in this movie they have to potential to change their lives around. You'd have to be really fucking shitty to kick a nigger on a curb stomp.

Then what's the point on having a review site then. Nobody can be honest if they're forced to conform to the infantilized narrative.

I'm actually banned from Letterboxd (Thank God) but I'm not SocietyReviews. I found it on Google Images. Letterboxd troons are babies when people negatively review a shitty troon movie.

But in summary. Letterboxd is one of the worst websites I have ever been too (It's nearly as bad as Wikipedia in term of shittyness). The pronouns options is a massive red flag and tells people everything they need to know about how much of a cesspool that site is.

Yet they allow people who shill for North Korea

I think it's called BetterSkatez which was a name I manifested in 2010.
Ok I get it now. I only used to use Letterboxd for shitposting purposes for almost three years until I left for good in March 2022, but I should've left sooner if didn't continue my "anime character analysis" reviews

I hope I'm not necroing this thread too much, but I'm just returning to the Farms after some time and am happy to see that Letterboxd has finally gotten a thread to itself. Granted, it's pretty easy to tell why it sucks just by looking at the average user and what they come away thinking after watching any movie that doesn't appeal to "modern sensibilities", but I feel it was overdue, so thanks to the OP.

One thing I'm surprised hasn't really been mentioned is how blatant the administration of the site itself is when it comes to enabling/endorsing the retarded ramblings of its deranged userbase. I think the best example of it comes in the Terms of Service for the site, with parts of Term 5 in particular standing out as particularly funny to me:

Pretty obvious where that gives them leeway, right? The Community Policy is also a goldmine when it comes to buzzwords and pandering.

It's a site for/by cinephiles ran based in New Zealand so I'm sure it was never not pozzed, but if I had to guess they doubled down on catering to their Twitter Leftist/Marxist/insane/insert euphemism here userbase after this incident in which a mod removed SilentDawn's (one of the most popular LB users, though who knows why) review of Inglourious Basterds in a rare display of evenhandedness when it comes to removing content that explicitly calls for violence, which, of course, is unacceptable: when it's being levied towards the correct people, it's okay!

Letterboxd immediately groveled at the pushback, and as a result mentally ill people are still in the comments of SilentDawn's revised review raving on about their fantasies of killing Nazis (AKA anyone they disagree with, you all know the meme), just like the heroes in their Hollywood movie!

Again, sorry if the topic is more or less dead and buried at this point, but I just wanted to rant a little about the site. It sucks, because I really do like the concept, and the diary feature on Letterboxd is perfect for me to log movies I've watched and jot down my thoughts on them if something interesting came to mind while watching, but even if you ignore everyone else's reviews there's still a non-zero chance you get banned for saying something too edgy for your nine random followers to handle. This hasn't happened to me yet but I might push the envelope to see what I can get away with. I wish there was a way to private your account and just divorce from the social aspect entirely, but that will never happen.

Speaking of divorcing from the social aspect, You can use ublock origin to completely remove letterboxd's review section. Paste this into your filters:

I've used uBlock origin during 2018 but I haven't used it for Letterboxd when I was there, and even before I joined Letterboxd, I still cared less about the site. I still do today
