I've never been on the bulbapedia, so I've never heard of this guy until now, but I find it extremely sad that a pedophile like him is able to become a teacher :(

And I don't really have to say this because it's already obvious, but what he's done online is beyond disgusting.

just so everyone knows, this news is old as shit and theres so little evidence nothing is going to happen legally from here on out. if theyre still doing this shit (and i see no reason why they wouldnt be) they probably keep it off-site like in skype or something. i just hope it catches up to them in some form or the other

I think British law is a little stricter than American law on that stuff so don't quote me on this.
And to keep on topic this guy is a creepy douchenozzle.

Good point, but UK (and Commonwealth) law in general is also less protective of freedom of speech, so that kind of cuts both ways.

Well shit, I'm not using Bulbapedia anymore.

On a side note, he kinda looks like Dwight from The Office. Except lamer. And a pedophile.

According to this-

If children were being coerced into sending nude pictures then it definitely falls into the realm of child pornography. The real issue would be proving this which may be nigh impossible to do. (:_(

Even otherwise innocent photos can be considered "pornography" if kept for the purpose of sexual gratification. Laws prohibiting such are generally incredibly broadly worded. If they had the chats and evidence showing the photographs existed and were possessed by the defendants, that would probably show the necessary intent.

Not sure about the specific jurisdictions in question here.

There'd be a number of potential offenses, though. For instance, merely soliciting such pictures is probably illegal in most places. Then there's charges relating to "corruption of minors" and similarly worded things, depending on what happened. Then there's actually helping to manufacture illegal pornography. Then there's possessing it once it's manufactured. Then there's distributing it if it was distributed.

Don't know enough to say for sure, but I'd be surprised if there is nothing they could be prosecuted for, assuming this fairly lurid story is actually true.

Dang, you guys seriously didn't know about this? I thought this was ancient news.

I always have Adblock on so I still use Bulbapedo sometimes because it's the only site that isn't a fucking pain in the ass to navigate and look for info, but yeah, they had their own sex board and unfortunately, they didn't really care when kids joined.

@AnOminous Agree 100% with this. Hell here in Canada we even had ads running that were aimed at the Jr High to High school age that warned spreading around the nudes of some girl to your friends could end up with you getting charged criminally. Gonna see if I can dig it up.

EDIT: found it.
It's immature, it's off topic...it's too perfect to resist
In all seriousness tho it's incredibly annoying how much of a 'grey area' the laws can be on this topic, if a person can be definitively linked to an online persona that's clearly acting in these ways you'd think there could be at least some form of intervention.

Well, I will admit I'm not a Pokémon fan, but damned if I can resist the day lolcows posted on the front page. After scrolling through all of your replies, the only thing I can say is, "Dude is fucked."

That's really too bad though; Bulbapedia sounds like it was a great resource catering to fans' needs.
It really was. It was well-organized, very detailed, and it even had a whole host of articles on all the glitches from the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games, and how to get them/ why they occur. It stands atop a lot of other fan wikis in terms of level of detail.

That commercial plays all the time here, and I assumed it had to do with the Amanda Todd suicide.
