The thing about physical vs digital for games is a bit different for me than most.
Simply put, until digital became common, nothing outside of the mainstream was easy to find affordably where I live. EB Games Canada didn't come into Alberta until 1998, aside from a single store in Edmonton in the early 80s in West Edmonton Mall, and the few independent game stores carried limited stock and price gouged, on top of not usually stocking anything that Walmart didn't anyway.
Occasionally I would luck out and find something niche second-hand or on a trip to the US, but otherwise I maybe got to play less than a quarter of what I wanted to.
Digital distribution finally made it possible for me to get whatever game I wanted to. I am perfectly happy to play a game once and have it disappear, I got my money's worth out of it. It also means I don't need a whole room to store my games, which is nice considering I have a big movie collection that already needs to be stored.
When I see these faggots whine about digital-only releases, I seriously wonder if they'd rather just not have more than a dozen games available to them at a time, because I have been there, and it majorly sucked.
