TGWTG Linkara / Lewis Lovhaug - HMMMMMMM? (Dead Gay Muppet Gangbang)

Where is the Power Rangers review, Lewis?

Joking aside, I think Linkara's content was the tamest and perhaps the most consistent on Channel Awesome. Even his weirdness is not as hard as the other folks. I guess the less you rely on crossovers and overtly long gags the better a person you may be, even if you are an awkward autistic weirdo.

Consistent? Sure, but that's because he refuses to change to a comical degree. Always the same routine no matter how much it's killing his career.

His routine and ego are always before quality and that's what makes him very weak as a creator.

I wouldn't say he is the worst Channel Awesome creator, but considering how popular Channel Awesome was, his viewership, and quality are embarrassingly bad.

Angry Joe, another CA alumni, consistently has a quarter of a million views or even more, while Linkara has to beg fans to pay his taxes.

True. Of course Joe is a more entertaining person who covers a more widely consumed subject. Mainstream games are quite more popular than comic books in general, let alone obscure bad runs.

Are you living in Bizarro world?! Linkara has so many crossovers and relies on so many out of place story lines or as they really are power fantasies

I last saw his content like 8 years ago. His early stuff was rather minimalism. Doug got into crossover cancer earlier.

I'll tell you what I remember because I'm not rewatching an hour of Lewy telling me how Holdo is actually in the right.

-in the comics there's a lot of narrative thought bubbles for old man luke, which for lewis ruins the subtle storytelling and prefers the more silent moments with luke and rey.
-he likes old man luke since the Jedi in OT were closely similiar, being pacifists first and only fighting as a last resort. Prequels Jedi were badass and cool but ultimately led to their downfall and luke doesn't want to make that same mistake, as he goes on saying it's time for the jedi to die.
-The stuff between Holdo and Poe makes sense to Linkara. Poe is being reckless and insubordinate to his Commanding officer, and even though the bombing run was successful, it still got many of the few resistance fighters left killed and ultimately futile when more first order ships showed up.
-was okay with part when leia was using the force, cuz ya know she's Luke's twin sister.
-No argument for the FTL ram. Linky just thought it was cool.
-Snoke dies but Likara says who cares? Sidious was little more than a metaphor for Vader's corruption and when he kills Sidious Vader becomes redeemed. Likewise Snoke is also a metaphor too, but i don't remember exactly what, sorry.
-Finn's sacrifice is claimed to be stupid by linkara, as we're not sure if it would actually destroy the laser cannon.
-Rose saving Finn makes sense, since she just lost her sister sacrificing herself for the bombing run, which turned out to have been for nothing.
-Linkara says there is an undercurrent theme of legacy, where Rey tries to reconcile with who she is, how Kylo talks about killing the past, and the whole reason why Luke wanted to die alone on achtoo.
-End of the videos Linkara says he thought Rise of Skywalker was awful.
So he's a shill trying to get access (and thus a desperate infusion of cash) and probably never really watched them or cared as a fan given how I've only seen miserable cunts who don't CONSOOM do this; shill hard for Ruin and so on. He never cared about Star Wars, because and I quote:

"They [Jedi] are not passive; they merely try to find the most peaceful option before turning to force. Passivity is not pacifism, and that's something that needs to be revised. Men should need to learn to wield a sword, but also when exactly is needed. Men need to be able to be monsters, but have enough wisdom to choose not to unless all peaceful options fails. You're able to do this, and you can inherit the earth."

~ On why Obi Wan cut a bitch in the Cantina in the OT

I know I might be wrong, but fuck I refuse to believe the cock slut said something this philosophical without actively sniffing his ass.

By the way, that was also the message of his Lightbringer comic, the first part was basically a rant about how pacifism is to let literal rapists get away with it, even if you have superpowers to stop them.

A shame. Seems like Lewis hasn't grown up at all since then.
Except that bizarrely, he seems to think that the people sitting on their asses and letting literal rapists get away with it might have a point now? That's what I'm getting from his defense of Luke.

A lot of people have noted over the years that a curious amount of Lewis's fiction has scenes where his self-insert's love interest is gratuitously raped in front of him.

Really gets that noggin joggin'.

He didn't. I believe that was a Lawrence Kasdan quote and I was using it to shit on Lewis not understanding this franchise at all given he's spouting the talking points he thinks will get him more access and maybe more money as a result.

Or stealing it from someone else.
Given that Linkara’s been a chameleon for this long, you may be onto something.

Don’t forget that drill scene from To Boldly Flee...which he and Lindsay has problems with.

I last saw his content like 8 years ago. His early stuff was rather minimalism. Doug got into crossover cancer earlier.

Lewis at first would do his comic reviews and would just focus on that, but then gradually started slipping more and more of his "story" stuff into his reviews over time - initially small skits like with 90's kid, but then gradually started introducing longer and more involved skits over a set of reviews.

He was best when he was fully focused on a comic and focused on being informative while critical. I generally enjoyed the Tandy Kids comic reviews best for that reason. But then the reviews started to focus around his storytime skits and became a chore to sit though while you waited for Lewis to do a story where he's the big hero guy or playing a hero going though a big moral crisis.

Also the crossover stuff as I recall was a mandate for CA contributors - or at least was expected to be a thing so they all promoted each other once it had become common practice.

I seem to recall Linkara was basically second to Doug at CA's height as I recall? At least he seemed to be popular enough to usually be on front page when he updated.

Their "problems" with that scene are strictly performative. If they really had a problem with it, either one of them could have put their foot down and refused to film it. What was Doug gonna do, recast one of the roles? Cut their nonexistent pay?

Back then edgy internet humor was the bee's knees, and now it's totally wrong and problematic, hence they have to cover their asses. It's the same as Spoony apologizing for his "sissy sissy, gay gay" song, except they conveniently have a scapegoat they can blame it all on in the form of big bad Doug. If there's another major internet culture shift, they'll change their tune again. They may even fool themselves with this bullshit, but their morals are whatever makes the shekels flow and keeps them from having to get a job at McDonald's.

This is not a surprise. He 'borrowed' the skit format from AVGN and other established reviewers. While most treated skits as just a stupid thing to move a review forward or, as an example, to point out an absurdity of a situation in the reviewed medium(such as Spoony's Dr Insano skit in the FF8 review was more a commentary of an over the top villain being an elected official), Lewis treats skits as a cohesive, joined universe where him and the other reviewers share it as, are superpowered beings that smash down fiction they don't like while having adventures.

One thing to keep in mind is Lewis, at least at one point, thought fictional worlds are real. That any 'creation' of fiction is the act of channeling an alternate dimension's facts on paper. Some can argue how metaphorical he was at this statement, but this in tandem of his fevered continuity protection of the 'shared reviewer universe' really makes you think.

His early stuff was pretty bad too. He famously stopped a review of an indie limited-run comic to bitch that 'Revolution of the Mask' was so much better and must be purchased.

Also the crossover stuff as I recall was a mandate for CA contributors - or at least was expected to be a thing so they all promoted each other once it had become common practice.

A lot of the earlier crossovers were two guys sitting next to each other talking about a medium with MAYBE a 2-minute framing skit.

Hah, no. Lewis was always on the front page because he always updated. Update frequency dictated who was on the front page, not popularity. In CA's height, SPoony was second. Then Joe, then Brad. The only time Lewis could have ever been second in popularity was probably right before the exodus.

This is 100% correct. Neither had a problem with the scene, or at least a problem that warranted a moral outrage. Either could have refused to film it and Doug couldn't force them to film it since they didn't have contracts. He could've threatened to kick them off the site, but imagine how that would sound, even with the earlier 'edgy internet humor' days.

"We got kicked off the site because we refused to film a rape scene". Yeah... Doug's not that stupid. No one had a problem with the rape scene while it was filmed. The "Change the Channel" doc reveals a lot about everyone's hypocrisy and the sad thing is they didn't realize it.

Just like how Upside Down Cross was revealed to be real after years of denial.

90s kid is Linkara's funniest OC from his bad sketches. Not saying much, but holy shit every time he says something I laugh genuinely.
