This bullshit in RuneScape, pretty much word for word, was the only online scam I've fallen for, and it happened when I was a young kid who barely even knew about the rest of the Internet.It taught me to never trust randos online.
Maybe if the people Linus hired actually had this experience when young, his channel wouldn't have been hacked.

Probably. People are really dumb when dealing with email. They do not read incoming addresses or ignore warnings that this might not be the person they are claiming to be.

I have managed to teach my parents not to open unexpected links. My boomer parents likely have better security sense than LTT employees.

He has over 100 employees. All it takes is one convincing phishing attempt at one on one of the editors who has the keys to the account and everything else just tumbles. This whole thing is hilarious and the irony is delicious, but acting like this is some immense moment of retardation by Linus himself is silly.

Why would that matter? If you're using a card online you should be ok with the info ending up somewhere else.
Vendors typically only need the number and expiration date, the most validation I've ever seen is verifying the billing address city and zip code line up. Never needed to use a real name or address for an online purchase with a personal card.

Yeah but the difference is that Linus is at the top of the Youtube sektur, so he gets quick access to the actual Youtube people and also Cloudflare who were apparently quick to block the crypto scam website.
Linus will probably get his channels back by tomorrow whilst other smaller channels wait for weeks if not forever before Youtube reaches to them or just delete their channels and accounts.
