So yeah he could get something that's appropriate for the job and won't crumble into dust but he'd rather not as it's decorative.

It's a fucking SMART MOOD RING. The only thing it had going for it was having its name pronounced in a way that potential customers thought sounded cool 'like Ikea'. So of course Linus fucked up the only relevant thing.

I don't get why they would waste their time on promoting a Google OS/spyware instead of a linux distro, especially for these old laptops.

I think that's because Tech Shrek does seem to be the most knowledgeable one there. The YouTube comments are always praising him for his knowledge and delivery, but then they could be deleting the negative ones.

Tech Shrek is very sensitive. I suggest you check out this video as it's definitely the most sour I've ever seen him, especially when he can't get the right results in CrystalDiskMark.
2:19:00 is when he has the crew helping him configure CrystalDiskMark.

Its the Alpha nerd thing. When a majority of your self worth becomes "I am the smartest person in the room" anything that disrupts that perception fucks you up hard. Its why dealing with nerds can be so exhausting, they have to be right, because being smart / good with computers / knowing all the pokemon was the only approval they ever got from their parents.

Ah, yes, this trainwreck. This whole thing was a fucking mess and i kinda recommend watching it because of it, it's basically 101 on how to NOT run a competition with fatso getting frustrated as icing on the cake. You just know everybody on the team knows that anthony has a short fuse. As soon as linus heard that fat fuck has some problems he started to mess around in minecraft instead of just winning and when this didn't help he cut the whole thing shortly after.

Every single one of the highlighted Veritasium videos has an interesting thumbnail and sentence that truthfully describe what happens in the video. Linus' thumbnails and titles leave me guessing WTF the video is about. What's the name of that folding screen laptop and why does he want to break it? What's the plan that Yvonne vetoed? What was Linus waiting for? Why doesn't Linus need internet? Who knows the answer to any of those questions, and none of them are interesting enough for me to click on the video to find out. Linus seems to think that good titles are just unanswered questions, but they have to ask a question that is actually interesting.

I don't think it is a coincidence (besides Veritasium cherry-picking videos that did well) that his videos have much higher view counts than Linus', despite him having fewer subscribers (12.9 million vs 14.8 million). Most of Linus' videos get around 2 million views, which is less than 1/7 of his subscribers, and his ten most recent videos have 0.871, 1.1, 1.6, 1.9, 1.3, 1.6, 0.806, 1.7, 1, and 1.3 million views. Veritasium's most recent videos have 6.9, 6.4, 12, 7.4, 5.7, 4.4, 6.8, 22, 12, and 8.5 million views. Two out of the last ten Veritasium videos had more people his subscriber count watch them, and all but two had more than views than 50% of his subscribers.

Linus's top video of all time has 22 Million Views. Veritasium has 12 videos with more views, and he's made way fewer videos.

MKBHD, Linus' closest competitor, got nearly five times the view count on his review of the new iPhone than Linus did on his.
