Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm told the cuckface thumbnails are just part of the YouTube meta and everyone has to do it, or at least another kind of obnoxious thumbnail. Probably to attract more kid viewers.
This is what Zero punctuation did after a while. It happened when he transitioned to YouTube and needed something for his thumbnails.

Linus made a video about LTT Labs' equipment and employees:
Current title and thumbnail in case he changes it:

After watching the video, two things stand out as odd. He hired a programmer to write a tool that screen scraps game menus and uses machine learning to figure out where the buttons are in order to configure the game for benchmarks. Nvidia GeForce Experience/AMD Gaming Evolved can do this automatically and behind the scenes they change the games' settings by editing config files, not by playing the games. He also paid for a video game version of the warehouse built in Unreal Engine.
After seeing the video, it is quite clear that he is focusing on a lot of what i would call buzzword marketing claims. These key switches are sub 1ms in response time etc.
Like you mentioned, you can easily do that with shell scripts editing config files. But i am thinking he wants it to generate reports for whole set of different benchmarks and then throw those reports over to the writing team. Set it and forget it.
I do find his idea to have 1 specialist per tech product category a little silly and expensive. I think massive lay offs when would be in order when the videos fail to perform. Not to mention the amount of space the equipment would need. He has got to build a noise controlled environment for example for the headphone reviews. Can't have the the fag next to him clicking the keys on a keyboard next to it. This labs thing is a major gamble. The funnest thing would be that it all crashes and burns leaves his company millions in debt and having to fire all the people he just on boarded.
I assume the set up of of said noise control environment is him and Jake putting black curtains up around a sectioned off square of the place. Reading the instruction manual for the expensive tech like they think they know how it works. Making the video, only to have it set on fire like their first UPS did, because he is too proud to have people with real skills upstage him and his soys on video.

lol the pointless intel book from 1996 video from yesterday had fat Anthony in a thumbnail but he got removed, ouch bro, don't double up on the HRT in response.

This "lab" video is sad and I'm tuning out trying to care about anything being shown. If you want to know how good a keyboard is, get out of your fucking pod and go check at a Best Buy or Micro Center (which is a really great place if one is in your area), or order one and return it. You don't have the NPC head perfected yet but something about miniscule difference wearing a beanie with noise canceling turned on for more expensive headphones.

They finally showed some realistic PC builds recently and that was worth watching, not these pie in the sky lab videos or the increasingly eat the rich feelings of his gay ass house build.

Linus set the pricing too low, it's still way under the cult classic "boy I wish I could join the military" goruck GR2, which started out at something like $150 and is now 400$ for about $20 in raw materials. People sell "limited edition" goruck backpacks second hand for like a grand.
is that thing berry compliant? i wanna say the alone jacks up the price by 3-4x.

But fabric is in short supply everywhere
shit like 300d ripstop hot weather stuff is continuously on backorder for civilian purchase.

The lab better be some kind of money laundering scheme. Like I said previously, there's absolutely no reason for Linus/LTT to do that kind of stuff because that's not what the company is all about. If he turns his company into a discount Gamers Nexus, then he can say goodbye to the sponsors.

1:08 That Ryzen.jpg over the curved monitor layer... great job editor.
Also imagine wasting all that money on the latest expensive cameras and audio equipments and not giving a mic to the people Linus is talking to.

redditors are so fucking stupid

Of course a noble company like Linus Media Group would never shill shitty products for money!

I find little value for LTT creating any kind of database for consumer products. His audience wouldn't understand any detailed analysis and they will just end up being the annoying twat in BestBuy arguing with Geeksquad of what HDMI cable is "the best."

"Is there an LTT certification logo on this cable?"

And I would say THAT is when it is ok to punch someone in the face.

I can't even get through the first minute. They really fucking went hard with the constant effects and transitions and shit all around the screen and the "woosh" noises that it feels like they are making sure their audience is autistic enough to keep watching. It's fucking unbearable.

I wouldn't put any trust into a youtuber tech tips company regardless of how much money they waste down the drain on a lab. If they have some certified trash list, I would be sure to avoid it as much as possible because I don't trust these cucks to stop shilling for one minute to give an actual decent analysis on anything, much less understand what the fuck they are doing.

To me, the funniest Linusism was a few years ago when Apple was holding a big event and he wanted to go, but it was invite only. So what he did was contact Apple's customer service via online chat. He berated some pajeet about how he thinks the issue is Apple doesn't have his contact information. Eventually, the guy, who I think is only there to help consumers/end users said he had to go because he had a meeting, the interaction took that long and he walked away with nothing.

He read the messages in a video or on stream like he was exposing how inept Apple is at PR or something. When he got to the part about how the customer service guy had to go to a meeting, I laughed so hard.

Attack Helicopter thing
What attack helicopter thing?

I have a impression that Linus doesn't know what to do with the Labs, instead of going small and growing up bit by bit like gamer nexus did with his PSU test and now the new fan test equipment, linus is going all out.

I wouldn't find surprising if the Labs became a 'jack of all trades master of none', where they do basic tests only and forget about complex/expensive ones because his community wouldn't care and that they don't have enough money to throw out into 100 different in-depth lab tests.

Nvidia GeForce Experience/AMD Gaming Evolved can do this automatically

The way I'm seeing that lab too is that linus is over-engineering it, where he/his employees doesn't know how the test works, so instead of doing a simpler test he goes to the complicated one.

That's the tell-tale sign of a pretender (or a shitty entry-level engineer). Any idiot can put together something absurdly complicated to achieve some task and it might even work sometimes. It takes skill, experience, talent and intuition to come up with a simple, elegant alternative that always works.

Describe some simple task that even a raspberry pi is beefy enough to run (modest-performance static web server, for instance) to an MCSE and ask them what they'd recommend, and they'll tell you to buy a $5k software stack (all Microsoft garbage, of course) and $10k in hardware. Then they'll tell you it'll take a week to set up (and they won't be wrong).

A competent sysadmin will just spin up an nginx instance on some machine on the network that's mostly idle and call it good. And it'll take fifteen minutes, most of which will be used to brew a fresh pot of coffee.

I am not following too closely, but any specific standard is exactly that: a standard. First you have to buy it which they are generally are not too expensive. Maybe $75 to $150 each, but the real expense is the necessary equipment and knowledgeable staff.
I really don't think they know what they are getting into. The EEVBlog guys will have a field day.
