Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I have heard him say on the wan show when topics like this come up in the comments. About how he would totally buy the product to review it off the shelf if a company black balled him from review units. But i am not really convinced. New top of the line TV every year for free or going in without lube on the Smart TVs shadier sides? I am going to be fair and say some review units are shared and they have to send them back or on the next reviewer.

I'm fairly sure he would buy products to review if LTT was blackballed. Not due to consumer advocacy moral high-ground but because it would be good business so long as the money you can make from associated video content is greater than the cost of the product less any money you can recoup from flipping it used or "open-box" on Ebay once you're done with it.

Always struck me as one of those Linus-isms which sounds impressive until you think about it for more than a femtosecond.

Unrelated but the “Tim Apple” shit happened over 3 years ago, why is his name on Twitter still Linus LinusMediaGroup??
Trump really lives in his head rent-free, despite living in a completely different country. “Tim Apple” was a small gaffe where Trump meant to say “Tim from Apple”. It isn’t a sign of anything other than a slip of the tongue and certainly isn’t worth freaking out about and changing your screen name over.

...all he had to fucking say is "if there's an issue, mail it back and we'll fix it or refund it." Don't even talk about shit like replacement zippers or how long you make them, this is a textbook example of you are talking too much and digging a hole.

I'd normally ignore the reddit fags because they just want to talk and feel involved and important and the nitpicking and what ifs are pointless but this is all Linus' creation and his inability to stop reacting on twitter.

This is getting sad now, everyone seems to be an autist and this "we have no ideas" video is being sponsored in the most half assed way by using a small screen laptop instead of a TV, but it's Lenovo so fuck Chyna. You also see the faggy rainbow mouse that's more obnoxious than RGB.

This is an extremely good point. In business, and in management this is a survival tactic. I hate intra-team politics in business, but sometimes, you just listen, ask some questions, and answer the questions posed to you in a limited fashion. It can go a long way to handle pointed topics behind the scenes with one on one conversations.

Best part is how does an adult react to controversy like this? Well lucky we have an LMG employee who has dealt with this before taken from reddit:
Why'd you censor the name on that tweet? Have you spent so much time on Reddit that it has rotted your brain?

The backlash from Reddit isn't helping their sales, I'm going to pump out another chart tomorrow just to see how slow it has gotten. I wonder if they're going to delay the screwdriver launch because of this shitfest too.
The more people realize he is no longer /theirguy/ the better.
Redditors make up like 90% of his audience so this is pretty disastrous and tbh I'm loving it.

Kinda out of topic but how you were able to get the sales number?
I wrote a shitty little program to download the page and regex the value they use to calculate the numbers you see on the sidebar.
C#:
using System.Net;
using System.Net.Http.Headers;
using System.Text.RegularExpressions;

using var client = new HttpClient(new HttpClientHandler{AutomaticDecompression = DecompressionMethods.All});

client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Accept.Clear();
client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Accept.Add(new MediaTypeWithQualityHeaderValue("text/html"));
client.DefaultRequestHeaders.AcceptLanguage.Clear();
client.DefaultRequestHeaders.AcceptLanguage.Add(new StringWithQualityHeaderValue("en-US"));
client.DefaultRequestHeaders.UserAgent.Clear();
client.DefaultRequestHeaders.UserAgent.TryParseAdd("Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:104.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/104.0");

var result = client.GetAsync(new Uri("https://www.lttstore.com/products/backpack")).Result;

result.EnsureSuccessStatusCode();

var html = result.Content.ReadAsStringAsync().Result;

var regex = new Regex(@"const.+= (\d+)");
var match = regex.Match(html);

Console.WriteLine(DateTimeOffset.UtcNow.ToUnixTimeSeconds() + "," + match.Groups[1].Value);

I know you can do this with curl + sed (or grep) but I'm a .NET retard and basically wrote this entirely from memory.

I didn't saw the numbers on the site, it's a poorly designed site on PC but cool but don't worry, if was me I would ended up doing in C# or python using the requests lib

Honestly say you were Quantum leaped into Linus, how would you fix this?

At this point ever since his "i'm thinking of quitting" video. it just feels like he jumped the shark. he could/should have ridden off into the sunset but instead he's going full retard as a prestige tech brand.

the screwdriver stuff shouldn't have even been attempted, same with everything else he's done the last 3 years. he should have taken a step back, been more of a narrator/host of videos where he introduces the audience to the content before the others do the real work, he could knock out a fuckload of them all at once a la the real life wraparound segments in very old cartoons.

honestly there is no way in hell the backpack or screwdriver should have even been attempted. in fact its crazy how much money he put into such things.

from a small business/e-celeb perspective he should have done way smaller runs and with actual quality. its like if a cooking channel decided to start a food line using the same manufacturers as wal-mart brand food. the entire brand is built around tech reviews/tips so wouldn't it make sense to do a partnership or endorse one of the few quality brands you review?

like people said, have a "LTT-approved" sticker to dogshit.

also he has 15 million subs, and could extremely easily ask them to fill out surveys to find out if there was any market for his overpriced dogshit before jumping in.

i know from a complete idiots perspective, he should be selling way more backpacks considering how small the percentage of his fanbase would need to buy them for it to be sold out.

the fact that he can't convince another .2% of his current subs to buy a $400+ backpack should be worrying.

also if they're this late to the RAIDS SHADOW LEGENDS game that means something must be up financially, which makes sense, they just burned one million dollars on backpacks if that shit doesn't sell and the screwdrivers have even less of a market than the backpacks last i checked screwdrivers were basically free.

all in all, just on bad merch runs they've wasted $2million minimum. think about how much that truely is, thats 2 bilion extra views they need to make up that cost. most businesses don't even make $2 million a year and they've burned through that just on bad ideas. not including the property they brought or the workforce they pay for.

if this was a public company they're stock would be in a nosedive. Linus is a good presenter but a terrible businessman and clearly didn't properly understand the market he's catering to. he acts like every sub will buy his overpriced bullshit, when its clear they're not in that market segment. nothing over $100 will sell clearly.

When does Linus Media Group have their Artesian Builds moment?

holy shit! you just taught me something, i could understand if it was just cool looking cases, but the entire PC is nuts. i could see going the brookstone route but fuck what a crazy business model/scam

Regarding Linus' sperging about warranties, all I'm hearing from him is that I shouldn't (not that I would) buy any of his products because I can't trust any company to honor their warranties. But at the same time, I'm supposed to trust Linus that he'll make things right if I buy his multi hundred dollar products and just email his support staff if something happens. How am I supposed to trust that his company will offer me any support without any explicit warranty (the answer obviously is that I am not)? I'm just supposed to take him at his word? I don't know who the hell he is. How do I know that he isn't lying when he goes, "Trust me dude, I totally make things right when a customer complains. That's why I don't officially promise to do so at all."

I didn't i took it from reddit. Listen im not using twitter search if i don't have to. If a censored screenshot is avilable with all of the necessary info why not just use that one?

TBF if you're dumb enough to buy any of Linus' overpriced shit with his world-famous Trust Me Bro warranty, you probably deserve to get dicked around for months by their hilariously named "customer service" department.
