Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • Happy Easter!
So many people who aren't needed, and this was blatant ass kissing by the writer (a troon supporter from the previous page) to make LTT look hip and cool. Half the people aren't in the office, the logistics team is one of the more vital pieces for the company but herded into a corner for 6 people while writers have way too much room up top (this is supposedly being fixed in the new warehouse), and editors look to be ripped from high school thinking they have a good wage. The lack of a normal dress code is disgusting. Shorts and a polo or a button up short sleeve shirt isn't a major inconvenience, and that's without looking at the shit beards and hair. That place must smell even when not during the hot summer.

Looks like a shitty silicon valley startup that'll collapse in a couple years than a serious "media company"
It's a shame Linus is such a control freak. A venture capitalist arc would be kino. It wouldn't even bother me if it made Linus a couple hundred million bucks richer; if anything I'd probably gain just a tiny bit of respect for him for ripping off a bunch of (((bankers))).

they gave us a segment on techlinked today.

Cloudflare has announced they have blocked trolling forum Kiwi Farms after specific targeted threats were seen escalating on the site in a 48-hour period. Cloudflare had been under intense pressure to drop support for the forum by the #DropKiwiFarms social campaign which highlighted the forum's contribution to online and real-life harassment and bullying which in some cases led to suicide. Cloudflare maintained that like their blocking of 8chan back in 2019 they had made this decision because of the recent escalation in specific threats and not directly because of the social campaign since they're not trying to police the internet. Kiwi Farms has reportedly switched to using servers hosted in Russia and we can only hope that leads some of them to have a "Are we the baddies?" moment.

Man they really sunk so low as to reading off talking points handed to them. Really revokes their rights as self proclaimed journalists by this point. In the past they usually provide the entire talking point in a neutral tone at the very least, and did they really have to add that quip at the end? That little bit of snark injects so many un needed political drama/baggage from outside into their tech focused content.

Yeah, they didn't used to throw stones like that, but I guess this is a new, more shameless than ever LTT that doesn't have to understand shit, like literally anything from the other side of the story, or why selling an entire shirt to mock people concerned about their dodgy products' warranties is a despicable act.

The fact that the self-proclaimed tech experts cannot comprehend that just because your domain ends with .ru doesn't always mean that the site itself is hosted in Russia and can be hosted anywhere else in the world really gives me a lot of faith in their expertise.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Gamers Nexus is probably gonna report on this too in their HW News video. I wonder if Steve will parrot what the media outlets say or will he do a bit of his own investigation and give a more neutral stance on the situation.

Level1Techs has made a paypig-only podcast discussing the technical details of Linus' data loss and just how bad it was.

Audio archive (I do have the video downloaded but the site is just too slow right now for that)

tl;dw: The petabyte ZFS array had absolutely zero maintenance for years, not even a routine scrub and it's implied throughout that when it finally crapped out, the LTT brains trust started fucking with it and made a mess.

Feel free to rate me late, but has anybody commented on the business practices of LMG? Apparently if you work for them, you have to sacrifice all your creative energy and solely create content for LMG-affilitated channels. Meaning that people who work for them can't create their own content for their own YouTube channels, no matter what the subject matter is, while working for LMG. Taking a look at their Glassdoor reviews (which I know aren't 100% verifiable) things look pretty bleak. I didn't know their little office was the modern day equivalent to The Paradise.

I remember seeing a really cringey Mario Kart video where employees were racing to get extra vacation time. I understand that having extra time off is a bonus no matter what job you're working - but the way some of these people were acting throughout the video made me wonder what kind of work environment they're in day-to-day as some of them are acting insane trying to win. I don't know. It always left a sour taste in my mouth.

I've been saying this for years, but it's only a matter of time before Linus starts a polyamorous asian waifu impregnation harem and Anthony troons out.
This is not unheard of in game development. They want all your time and creativity for themselves. I think somebody once told me that it was just like that in CD Projekt, but I'm not 100% sure.

Little tip I stole from Rossmann: Put a small neodymium magnet on the shaft. Increases the magnet strength of the tip and doubles for holding screws.
Good tip. I did that when I was buiding my new counter. It was the only way to screw the motherboard to the chassis - my motherboard has too big io shield and I can't get there without dropping the screw. This fucking shit:

Classical journalism, he is just repeating same shit other people already published with no additional effort. .RU domain = RUSSIAN = BAD is so funny to me. They try to present themselves as progressive, but their rhetoric sounds like it was pulled out of a Cold War American movie.

What's pathetic is Riley looks like he will without a doubt offer his kid up to the troon squad as some perverted social media sacrifice. The fag tried to trim it but he still has that stupid pedo stache to try and make up for having no real personality.

"I Built A Drag Queen Story Time an Amazeballs LGBT PC!" will be a thumbnail soon as the company forces all employee children into the warehouse for a "show."

Well well well, so the screwdriver actually did quite good in tests. As much as i hate this guy i'd say just this once linus (or rather his team) deserves some praise, because while overpriced and based on megapro's design the fact that they did alright against actual tool makers is nevertheless somewhat impressive. I'm surprised they managed to improve on megapro's design but on the other hand it's twice the price so yeah, not really a good value. I wonder how good a 70$ megapro would be, i'd bet it would be way ahead of competition and shit on swiss tools too.

For a consumer good, much less a professional tool, a lot of the development and the resulting cost is ensuring that it works the same twelve, twenty-four, thirty-six months later as it did out of the box. This is still an unknown and is a big part of why brands with a known reputation can charge more.

There sure are a lot of podcasts out there with .fm urls, who knew the Federated States of Micronesia was home to so many podcasters? Same deal with .tv, who knew so many people working in broadcasting live in Tuvalu, a Polynesian island in the Pacific Ocean, home to only 11,900 people? What a bunch of idiots.

I'd love to have faith in Gamers Nexus, but I just can't trust any YouTuber whatsoever. I'm sure Steve doesn't want the troon squad breathing down his neck.
