Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

It’s insane because Project Farm does lol “scientific” tests with a budget that is basically “beer money” and AvE does “tests” with a budget that is “beer money but candian” and torque test does actual tests with two machines

Could all of them do more with more equipment? Probably. Did they all start with what they had and worked up? You bet.

Will this fail spectacularly? Guaranteed.

If linus don't burn the entire company down before launching the Labs(as he's hiring 100+ people for it and spending money on useless testing equipment), labs is doomed to fail because the average tech soy don't care about things like SNR, flat headphone curve, voltage spikes on PSU and more and at the same time he will be spending a few hundred of thousands of dollar per month just to maintain the lab

There is no way I would trust Linus to understand those types of electrical parameters. Even if Gary did, Linus is the type of guy who would clearly demand them to be dumbed down for his shit audience. Color me surprised if there are actual, in depth reports published from LTT Labs.

This to me all smelled dirty.

IMHO Project Farm knew better. He did this the views as this was an uproar/ red button topic on the internet. I am VERY disappointed with him and have given my clients why he is on my brown list of people to be concerned with.

The screw driver fiasco was more than quality control. It was about Linus and him trying to weasel out about his warranty. It was only after he got pressure from the masses is when he decided to state out his warranty.

His "Vindication" is nothing but utter bullshit. AS if this was all planned to save face.

In my eyes this is all dirty, as dirty as I've seen on Youtube.

I do not mess around when giving out reports or what I consider sound information because I know that Karma is a Bitch.

Getting sick of this guy's clickbait

He is overspending on labs to have the "best" or what he perceives as the best. You see what he bought to do PSU tests compared to GN's little setup? He's getting in way over his head with labs; does he think its going to be sort of UL or something? How is anything from labs going to make money? Does he think people are going to come to him for some sort of certification? Or will it just be the 6th LTT channel that nobody watches?
I just had a crazy thought. His wife understands money. Maybe she saw the current inflation coming and decided to dump as much of the company's liquid reserves into physical assets as possible, because they'd depreciate less than cash will lose value over the same period. The entire thing is a tax write-off too. I h ope she's been investing their income somewhere safe, because Linus will likely neck himself if LTT goes under and he loses everything.

I wonder how will Linus' fanboys defend this and what mental gymnastics they will come up with to say it's not clickbait. I have zero fucking idea what the video is about and whether or not it's worth my time. Which is the entire point of titles and thumbnails, they are supposed to tell you what the video is about. Just a quick comparison:

GN's 4090 review. The thumbnail as well as the title tell me exactly what this video is about. You can see Steve in the thumbnail having a neutral expression so it's not jarring but you know the face of the presenter.

Hardware Unboxed's 4090 review. The thumbnail doesn't tell me directly that it's a 4090 review, only shows the 4090 card itself on it, but the title does tell me that. HU Steves pull off more stupid faces on their thumbnails than GN for example, but it's still not as bad as LTT thumbnails.

LTT's 4090 review. The only hint that I have of it being related to the 4090 is the thumbnail if I read the text on the card. The title tells me fuck all about what the video is about. And Anthony is pulling off a face as if he was taking a massive rock hard shit after stuffing himself at McDonald's.

Now, if you had no idea about any of these three channels and wanted to view a review of this card, which one of these three videos you would be the most likely to click?

That last one looks like it’s designed to get existing subscribers to click it even if they don’t care about the 4090. I wonder if they’re not really bothering to try to grow the subscribers?

This, the entire reason he's doing this LTT Labs shit is because he's butthurt that Steve pulls off very in-depth and interesting reviews with a small team somewhere in North Carolina and he gets mentioned by big media outlets that never talk about Linus because he never accomplishes anything significant. This is all fueled by envy, which wouldn't be the first deadly sin that Linus has committed.
Linus must have been seething and dilating after Gamers Nexus released that video where Steve reported the CEO of EVGA confided in him to break the news about the Nvidia thing. Like or hate Steve, that kind of relationship with industry holds tons of weight and only continues to build GN's credibility, none of which Linus has. It also helps Steve et al do actual investigative work like when they visited the Artesian Builds west warehouse after the company folded and talked in person with Newegg on their questionable practices.

Assuming I didn't know any of the three channels in question:
1. Would click.
2. Might click.
3. Kill it with fire.

Linus' very expensive server was broken because they didn't seat the CPU properly:
Don't forget the more than 50% junk in the video, which in this case is just egregious.
Every colored segment is a skippable filler/ad/reminder block.

SponsorblockSegments_LMG.png

On a side note Odysee is pretty good but there is no sponsorblock equivalent for it yet.

On a side note Odysee
I wonder how hard would be to download his videos and upload to a unnoficial LTT channel on odissey just to see them seething.

While downloading and uploading to odissey is easy, I don't have a good way to check if a new video was uploaded to the channel unless putting the code on a cronjob

Most of it is the "filler" category which I wasn't even aware was added to SponsorBlock, but it shows just how much of LTT's content is completely useless for understanding what they are even talking about.

I realise it'd be extra work, but for extra seethe I'd be inclined to put the video into something like Avidemux and chop out the shilling before reuploading to Odysee.

It is another video of Linus benchmarking a server that nobody really uses, is out of the price range of even some businesses and has limited use. With half the video being useless """""banter"""" and general time wasting nonetent to get to the yt monetize time limit.
I have to question the ethics of doing video's like this. Linus bills himself a progressive right? What would progressives say about how much electricity he burns while shooting these types of video's. Not a good look for saving the planet here. I get a fucking lecture from the eco mob if i leave a LED bulb on all night. But it is okay for him to burn 4000watts for this bullshit content? They could have got in somebody who works with the server to tell us all about it, but all they could manage was less than 20 seconds of moving the lander model about. His content is becoming more merch adverts with tech set dressing, it is no wonder sponsorblock is skipping 85% of the video.

This reminds me of a few discurssions that I saw on the LTT forums where the same users that complained that mining is bad to the environment and shit were the ones who would get high power electronics or wouldn't turn off their computers at night

Damn the amount of useful content is getting low enough that you could just free use it with commentary lol

Also with how many fuckypoos they keep having I am starting to suspect it’s intentional
I don't think their fuck-ups are intentional as much as his crew is mostly people who've never done much work outside of desktop support / bench work. I'm not gonna claim servers are fucking mystical, when people ask me how hard is it to get into server shit, I tell them if you can pass the A+ you can pass the Server+; the hardware is a little different, but the concepts / basics are the same. It's all the different services and networking shit is where server shit becomes difficult; something LTT never fucking seems to do, along with daily checks, because if you want your magical 1PB shitbox to fucking work, you should at least do a health check every morning when you walk into the office.

Sorry, back on point; their fuckywuckies aren't intentional, as much as they're not trying to ruin shit; but they're ruining shit because they're either too busy doing videos (on floatplane) than to do the boring day-to-day tech shit. You know what tech tip I'd like to see from Linus; do a week in different types of positions and have your crew purposely create problems so people can see how unglamorous real tech work is. Uninstall whatever design software from Sarah's workstation, have Dennis call in for a password reset (extra points for hamming up an extra thick accent), fucking have a complete file server failure for your engineering team and require a full backup. Creating and having to run through actual problems is what builds skill (and character). The most these guys have done is spin up plex servers and other shit at home, and while that isn't bad, that's not the pedigree you want fucking around with your "Million Dollar Server" solution.

I also think the thing they did where they ordered pre-mades to test the company's tech support was cool; but I'm also of the mind they're copying Steve at GN for ideas so they lose any points towards that.
