He wanted a Taycan.
IDK if is just me but I find buying cars that costs 100k+ to be a waste of money, even more an electric one. You can't fully used it in a city and while the car has a cool factor I personally don't care about it. I see cars more as a utility/appliance thing than something cool or a status thing.

Are LTT videos written by Nvidias marketing department
I find funny how LTT is like userbenchmark, where except for the epyc/threadrippers they put AMD as the poor man choice in PC's, more than once they shilled for Intel/NVidia against AMD, where what made NVidia to win was features that no one cared, like how they criticize the Ray Tracing on the RX 7900 RTX, saying that is worse than a 4080 because of it, while the RTX beated every other metric the 4080 while costing less than 4070.

Also about RT. They did a poll almost after of it on their twitter and It's funny how basically most people doesn't care about it.

Linus doesn’t strike me as a guy who buys base model anything.

He's just waiting to get sponsored.

I think this had to be the most pointless video yet. It was all to shill one of those power station things. Nothing got done, it was basically powering a PC from a battery bank in the most asinine way they could think of.

Back in the day I was running a small CRT tv and my PS1 & 2 on a power inverter in my family's minivan on road trips, so this is cool to see it modernized, but it's Linus Shill Tips and they were doing mouse and keyboard which would be awful with all the road motion. Not practical at all.

I know next to nothing about cars, but I do know you can easily draw 75W from the cigarette lighter without blowing a fuse. My laptop will charge on as little as 40W.
If they're not just using a USB-C quick charger cigarette plug with a laptop, they're doing it wrong.

Same, but with an n64. Then I got a gamecube and a portable screen for it. Came with a 12v dc adapter.

most people still don't even have a card that supports raytracing....

even for those that do, in most games it's a completely underwhelming experience for the performance cost... even with dlss, which is a diceroll on the game having a decent implementation of it...

and maybe they just aren't playing games that support ray tracing. I'm not. the only non-rtx-demo-based game I've played since getting a 3090 TI is Hitman 3. and hitman's new engine has such good reflections/shadows natively that I can hardly tell a difference with side by side screenshots, let alone in gameplay. in exchange for utterly trashing performance. the lighting could be better, but they don't have ray traced global illumination, only sun-shadows and reflections... I might be willing to take the hit and use DLSS if it had global illumination. but it ain't.

watching the pointless car video I just see the following happening:

3 kids in the back of the van, on an icy day. They're yelling and fighting because they're siblings and one of them has gotten the animal bloodlust going again. Their asian mother poorly driving the streets of BC, she's driving even worse than normal because of the commotion. She crashes into someone on the side street because she never took into consideration the extra weight of the hefty battery pack right on the back of the rear axel. The solar panels on the roof aren't properly installed, one flinging into the back of the car she hit, the shards hurting the passengers of that car. The back solar panel falls off the rear hatch, the light blinding the driver behind them. He crashes right into the van, and now it's sets on fire faster than a dried up Christmas tree because of all the batteries everywhere. Which leads to the soyface angry thumbnail "I'm so mad at Honda for this design flaw!"

Also Jake feels like such a car poser and is starting to remind me a lot of the neckbeard Josh from Red Letter Media. I'm not a major car guy but I do know how to drive stick and basic car engineering and maintenance stuff but he just feels like he's an automatic guy pretending the spoiler on his front wheel drive car helps with grip. And he's getting fatter.

Hes a BMW boy who wears driving gloves to keep the cheeto dust off of his alacantra steering wheel, he at least (occasionally) works on them himself it seems.
Speaking of FAT, he broke a chinesium butt vibrator chair on shortcircuit today. (I'll side with them on it though, the failed part shouldn't be bent that easily even if anthony was the one lounging on it.)

m not. the only non-rtx-demo-based game I've played since getting a 3090 TI is Hitman 3
I have a RT capable card and I played the Quake II and Portal demos, while the light effects are cool to see, I didn't found to be that amazing as they say. For example F.E.A.R./Doom 3 dinamic light can do the same as some RT games nowadays.

Chairs breaking when a fat person sits on them is good design. Being fat is a sin and shall rightly be punished by God and/or the Chinese.

I'm still fairly pro-Raytracing. I've had great times using RT in Metro Exodus, where even with the slight upscaling artifacts (Usually a trail off the back of glow sights) was worth the significant lighting quality increase I got in return on everything else. Some of the comparison photos floating around of the Caspian Sea really sell it well.

I feel like Linus is forgetting how half this stuff works - Devs develop for the widely available capability, and have a four or so year lead between when they start and when they arrive. With the exception of games Nvidia directly involves themselves with like the Quake 2 and Portal stuff, most projects at inception just don't make sense to aim for full true ray illumination, since the density of cards beefy enough to do so at 1080p just didn't exist until maybe the 3080's. And because few devs are PC exclusive, consoles are the big technological factor here - While console lifecycles are generally defined by getting more and more power out of older and older hardware with software knowledge and clever coding, none of that can really make RT cores exist where they don't - Software raytracing brings the beefiest computers to their knees still, Nvidias hardware Raytracing really is a gamechanger that way.

So realistically, we won't see much in the way of true fully raytraced gaming until the consoles can handle fully raytraced gaming at 1080p, which is at least another console generation away, plus two to four years, depends how early people get ahold of and commit to the dev kits potential. Until then, developers will be forced to either have dual lighting pipelines, which sucks for everyone involved, or use a more limited and optional subset of raytracing, which is the easiest and most affordable way to use the power.

There's a non-zero chance that Linus has hit up Porsche Canada to offer his services as a brand ambassador.
As much as a Taycan is on my guilty pleasure bucket list, even if he got it for free/ extreme discount, he's a tech bro, not a auto mechanic. Porsche's are as they always have been; complete maintenance nightmares that makes Uncle Rico's rusty 1990's drug smuggling Ford Ranger with mismatched tires and 20 bullet holes through the bed look simple to fix.

That's not Linus' problem, as he'd probably get it swapped out for a new one in 12 months time anyway.
