Joking about turning on midrolls should be a criminal offense. As for the Chode-driver, bruh you really want to try this again after fucking up so hard the first time?

What would have wore out anyway? I no longer care about building a performance or gaming PC, so why would it matter if the video card was operated at max power forever. I would expect any OEM to stress test their designs at performance corner cases.
Fans are the most common culprit. Sometimes it's not possible to source a direct replacement and you have to get janky with it, or get a third party cooler. Power components can fail, but that's usually determined by damage during manufacturing or bad sourcing, not how you use the card. The protections in place on modern cards pretty much make it impossible for you to kill them without physically damaging them through manhandling or hard-modding them.

People who buy tens-hundreds of GPUs for mining don't even run them at max power, they undervolt them to save on power / increase efficiency / decrease temperature. A mining GPU has likely been abused less than one used for gaming in a choked case.

I had my hardmodded 2070 running full blast beyond spec while mining for over a year during the boom. It's still kicking. 3x stock TDP available, and I've seen it use over 400w for extended lengths of time. Watercooled, of course, that shit wouldn't fly on air.

Luke slaps Linus' moralfagging about going back and making a lot of money via bitcoin by saying "well yeah, you're already rich" and doesn't back down on that point, and then Linus squirms as he tries to pretend he's down with the struggle.
If you're a moral person, one thing that you might consider in thinking back about how you could have made a bunch of money, somehow, is how you could have spent that for good.

Linus, on the other hand....

On one hand it's your money, do what the fuck you want. On the other hand, at a certain point, I feel morally that charity should be you paying back to those who gave you everything. Give away PC's, when you're at the store and see a kid, buy him a bike for the hell of it, get into house building, if you really believe in this electric car shit, fund charging stations, drive down those real estate prices by building homes with the latest tech, etc. That's just kind of a range of what you can do.

This reminds me of this video. I linked it here once but I'll link it again.

This here was infinitely more genuine than Linus will ever be. Steve was just roaming around a Microcenter, and then a fan noticed them and then Steve helped him out pick out all the parts needed, and by the end of it Steve paid for that guy's computer, and the only way you can tell he did that is if you pay attention to the video itself. Neither the title, nor the thumbnail, nor the description said anything about Steve buying a PC for that guy, he just did it and never boasted about it.

If Linus were to do a video like this, the title, the thumbnail, the description, all of it would be mentioning how much of a good guy Linus is for buying someone a PC out of his own pocket, and he'd probably stage the shit out of it rather than spontaneously going to a store, getting noticed by a fan and then going with this schtick. And as everyone in the world knows, if you have to tell everyone how much of a good person you are, you're probably just a massive piece of shit.

Even the Bible calls out bragging about your charity. It doesn't make you look good in the grand scheme of things. And he wouldn't just talk about it once, he'd constantly bring it up to virtue signal, because he himself has no virtue.

Stole this from 4chan.
Linus a few months ago did a video about running fiber between his 2 buildings, the video itself was made almost 6 months after the adblock is piracy drama, people on 4chan noticed that on the desktop, which belongs to LTT, that they used to test the internet speed had ublock origin installed.

The timestamp is about 26:19 and the link for the video: https://youtu.be/3CDOSj8fZA4

mpv-shot0003.jpg

FBI released a statement recently where they told that using ad-block is a good way to prevent a lot of scams online and this is blowing up a bit on tech-news site, I wonder what shit take that Linus will try to spin up about it on the next wan-show to defend ad-block because as he's megacorp/government boot licker

Does outrageous shit thumbnails / titles actually work?

With how much linus talks about doing anything for "muh algorithm" ( immediate red flag if any youtuber mopes about muh algorithm), it feels like some other deceptive tactic like that title change graph stunt he tried a couple months back.

drive down those real estate prices by building homes with the latest tech, etc. That's just kind of a range of what you can do.
Shit like this is why Canada's anti gun shit is stupid.

Shoot a couple rounds in the air and watch as property values drops just as fast as the bullet.

Adblock is a practical necessity on the modern internet. Nevermind youtube, you want to watch any Anime or read manga under the table, it's about the only way to access those kinds of sites anymore. His hypocrisy is on full display right now, all because he cried about his precious Adbux that he doesn't really need with all his sponsors. I predict he'll say nothing.

Google and Facebook regularly sell and display scam ads.

Pretty much the exact same thing the FBI mentioned happened to me. I Googled Amazon's support number, scammers had bought adspace and made an ad designed to look like a legitimate result with a fake Amazon support number you'd call. You'd dial them up and they'd try to finesse your password out of you. I managed to avoid being scammed, but I can't imagine how many people, especially the elderly, got their accounts taken because Google doesn't give a shit about the end user and just wants to sell adspace.

I consider AdBlock not only a convenience, but required protection everyone online should use. I also consider anyone saying to turn off that pesky AdBlock complicit in, and profiting from these scams. Especially Linus, who I guarantee knows about the scams, but doesn't care because he profits from it.

That's the reason I like Brave, it's burned into the code and they'll be dammed before they rip it out.

My overall view is if you provide your content for free, then I will consume it for free. If anyone thinks their content is worth a dime then charge for it and live off the subscriptions.
I'll go to Barnes and Nobles or hell the god damn grocery store magazine section pick up a copy and read then put it back. It's like having a magazine police standing there, "Exucse me sir, watch this add before perusing the magazines." Like fuck you.

Thing is we're not obligated to give you money. I can walk into a Wal-Mart 1000 times and not part with a penny, why shouldn't it be the same with you Linus. Thing is people know you have a merch store, every youtuber worth their salt at least sells a T shirt, and if I really think you're worth it, if I really like you Linus, I'll buy one and maybe even throw a few bucks in the patreon. Thing is you meet none of the qualifications for me to even consider that. Your pride is palpable.

Bingo. People see potential money on the table in the form of ads, and get greedy. "What if they all watched them anyway?". Ironically, LTT had the right idea with floatplane - Paid, premium service for videos. They're not doing so great with it afaik, but it is exactly what they should be doing with what they say they want. Maybe if doubled down on that and provided them with more resources instead of spending millions on larping as a scientific engineering company, it'd be better off.

S'not like they need a lot, just a handful of extra engineers and another project manager, so they can delineate between operational and project work - Seems like every time their excuse for features being late is the effort they spend keeping the lights on.

Linus simps ruin everything.

MCM just made a 15th anniversary special showing BTS stuff, including the file server that Marty built himself from the ground up. Of course there are fucktards in the comments that reckon Daddy Linus should build a server for MCM; this is just a tiny sample.

BTW I think Marty did a great job with the server.

I thought it was a bit odd that the server was basically a gigantic hackintosh. Like, I get it, they're clearly a Mac shop so they'd want MacOS on everything. And obviously it's been working fine for them. But since Apple has some weird aversion to enterprise gear it would make more sense to just run something like TrueNAS on it. I reckon that's probably what Marty is thinking with that test unit on top that he mentioned.

I was a little surprised too. I thought Marty might've run some flavor of Linux on there. But then I remembered that this is MCM, and doing extreme DIY that often doesn't make much sense - yet usually works brilliantly - is how they roll. There's probably nothing more MCM than a server made from random parts that Marty put together himself.

I'd go as far as to suggest that if there was a server build-off between Marty and Linus, Marty would whoop Linus' ass.

You know that the comment dislikes do absolutely nothing ever since Google redid the YouTube comments to be compatible with Google+, right?
