This is completely correct though. Like nigger, we've had good, stable NES, SNES and Genesis emulators since early-to-mid 2000s, why do feel like you need to reinvent the wheel? VirtuaNES (or FCE Ultra), Kega Fusion (or GENS), SNES9x (and ZSNES, 'cause fuck Byuu), that's all you need.

It only takes a few troons to spoil the batch. In the case of open source, it's always been made up of mentally-unstable narcissists with a lot of autism. Autistic narcissists are the ones who are susceptible to trooning. The older open-source developers just go along to get along and save their energy for another fight. They don't realize that the troons will be the ones to drive them out until after they create their codes of conduct.
I went through this with Rust, too, but I also ran some benchmarks. It turns out that in most cases of complex code with complex ownership ideas, Rust is actually meaningfully slower than C or C++ because of its "safety" notions. Rust also isn't really that much safer than C or C++ code in practice, it just crashes on weird input instead of accepting it in funny ways, and there's no replacement for actually checking your inputs. The governance issues were the final nail in the coffin that made me completely lose interest. C++ 23 and 26 (as well as a lot of the "next C++" ideas) have some ways to write memory-safe code in them, too.
Red Star is just Linux except locked down. If you want to use a hobbyist non-Linux OS, you can try one of the *BSDs (all of them have their own troon problems tho), Haiku, or ReactOS.
