Coming from a (now former) fan of LTT. I was skeptical of this thread's existence for a while. I felt that for what LTT was doing, I believed the scrutiny and observance from the farms were more or less unwarranted, as I thought Linus or LMG didn't cross the threshold of Careercow or internet famous. But with this video by GN and the absolute tone-deaf response with a complete lack of self-awareness. I believe Linus has really lost the plot and now deserves a more continuous scrutinous look. My sheer disappointment and anger at the deflection, gaslighting, and non-addressing of the accuracy and ethics are immeasurable and my day is ruined. I guess in a sense I am MATI, but keep in mind LTT is very popular, and I and many others have used their videos in the decision-making process for purchasing parts. One of my IRL friends has said that they used their review on the Asus ALLY (a Steam deck-like device) to help him make a purchase. He had to send the device to the shop because there are memory issues with the device he got. Something I imagine that Linus didn't test for.


I'll tell you this kiwis the damage here is palpable. The fact that Linus decided to not address this in a public forward-facing way on his main channel shows you that this show ain't over. People have spent money because of their videos. I can see the milk flowing here folks.

No I don't fucking know what's what. There's like 7 different utilities all named the same damned thing, and I wager at least one of them is a rootkit. They both are GUIs that use a command line backend. I BELIEVE what happened is the URL changed for the command line program thanks to Google fuckery, and the older apps were hard coded, whereas yt-dlg isn't?

I've pretty much thought of LTT as mere "entertainment" since quite a while ago by now but I especially remember that water block video and how bad it was and when I saw this from Steve I was like damn... I might need to stop watching this all together - even if it is just for entertainment purposes. Jayz, Steve, Paul and der8auer are my usual gotos these days.

That prototype had to be individually fabricated at one of those specialty machine shops to very exact specs.

The fact that LMG appears to not understand it was both expensive and not OK to just sell it off is baffling.

Over engineered shitpile that will require multiple warranty trips to the dealership, and if you want to keep that warranty, be prepared to spend out the ass for basic shit you can easily do yourself like oil changes and air filters. Once that 5-year warranty ends, expect a failure in dangerous way (for example, the rear stability control in my case). Luckily I was able to unload that during covid for an inordinate amount of money (compared to what it was actually worth) thanks to the car shortage. The dealership told me they were shipping it to China, so at least I got some laughs out of the thing, but it was still a total ripoff and I will never buy a "luxury sedan" ever again.

3-Series Beamers - not even once. I would rather drive an '03 Civic with 150k miles. Less maintenance and less dangerous.

I was commenting more on driving dynamics. The 2012 3-series felt athletic and made you feel connected to the car in a way the Tesla does not. Despite driving sporty it was also comfortable and smooth. I mentioned the 201x Chevy Malibu as well - for a front drive econo car the GM engineers really nailed the feel as well, very impressive stuff. I was kind of shocked how good it was, damn shame the consumer base never noticed and now GM basically just does trucks.

Tesla just feels like a brick on wheels, but not in the good way the land barge Chrysler 300 / Dodge Charger does. Where the LX platform cars are bricks on wheels that are comfortable and smooth for long drives owing to both the weight, heavy duty suspension and decent chassis, the Tesla makes you feel every shitty bump in the road and handles like dog shit.

Re: reliability, sad to hear but not unexpected. A buddy needed to to brakes on his 5-series. He expected a big bill. He never expected another $120/corner for a sensor THAT WEARS DOWN WITH THE BRAKE PAD, without which the car disables ABS, traction control and stability control. Since then, I have sworn off luxury cars, especially BMWs. Now that they got rid of manual transmissions too, the decision is a lot easier.

Tesla model 3 goes through front suspension parts (ball joints? control arms?) like tranthony goes through cum and donuts. Being replaced under warranty regularly (about once every 1.5 years), but what happens when warranty is done? Apparently dealers are telling Tesla Consoomers this is now considered a consumable item.

I knew Linus is a faggot and his whole made up youtube-based business is a giant fart in a box long before any of this happened.

A whole company focused around youtube reviews and boomer-tier normie tech tips could be nothing more than a fucking joke, especially with a face like that guy. He lacks any charisma.
