Tourist here because of the front page link. I remember there was some very obscure information I was trying to find about RAM modules. Youtube kept shilling a LTT video with every search so I checked it out. It was him bitching and moaning about how he fried his RAM trying to overclock it for some retarded reason. That told me all I needed to know about the caliber of their videos.

Minor powerlevel here. As a solo content creator, I can easily see how even Let's Player's end up turning into dozen men operations. To release a single 8 minute video can take me a 10+ hours easily - planning, scripting, recording, assembling, editing, reviewing, publishing. I'm also only good at the writing part and I imagine most other creators are in a similar boat, so editing takes me double the time someone proficient would take. The raps I did for kiwitober '21 easily took me 4-6 hours a piece and those were only a minute or two long. This is all to say, I can see the appeal of having a team with everything compartmentalized for an efficient pipeline.

From the CC's I know, it starts by working with support houses. You don't hire an editor you contract work out to an editor, etc.
These relationships usually start once you are big enough to have a management company. They will have a list of vetted (work on time, actually do what told, haven't molested children) people doing nearly whatever it is you need doing. Eventually you grow large enough to get them full time, but if you are smart you still engage them on a contract basis because if they get sick or dead you are fucked.

Linus once told a story about one of his cats being baked alive when their cleaning lady ran the clothes dryer without realizing the cat was inside.
I felt bad for 2 reasons, the first one being a cat suffering trough a dryer cycle, which is a very slow and painful death and the second reason being Linus' kid, apparently that particular cat was the little hapa's favorite cat.
This happened when they were out on vacation and if I remember right the kid said something like " I can't wait to go back home to see 'cat's name' " only to find it agonizing and the cleaning lady freaking out when they got back.

From a business side, I've worked for startups that met with success and exploded in value and size. GN is kind of like a modern version of what hardocp used to be ages ago. Not giving a fuck, actually getting test equipment, establishing procedures, calling out businesses when necessary, etc. It also means that GN isn't entertaining... but that's not what they set out to be. I don't give a shit how entertaining someone is when investigating burning GPU power cables or whatever.

LTT on the other hand was always the shitty tech equivalent of Top Gear at best(except nowhere near as entertaining). But Top Gear never pretended to be more than people fucking around with cars and giving their opinions, while LTT on the other hand decided he wanted to get into the actual benchmark/testing space, and failed miserably. He's a crappy tech shill and always has been, going back to the bullshit claims that an rtx 2080 card could realistically do 8k gaming(it could not), or even his start when he was at NCIX... shilling hardware for their marketing department. The problem is that his ego has massively inflated over the years to match his bloated company, and he has a serious case of main character syndrome, as evidenced by the insane responses by him on his forum before they took the site offline.
