So at least one former employee corroborates, to an extent, what Maddison posted to X/twitter.

I think Outlook is used in businesses just because Office is used in businesses. It's all streamlining, because otherwise the only software from the suite worth a shit is the holy trinity of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Outlook is king and will remain that way for one simple reason: the calendar. Nobody else has come close to matching the meeting requests integration and features. Businesses depend on it. Everyone I've seen try to move away from Office always comes back because of the calendar.

It hasn't aged particularly well because relatively more affordable NVMe drives have shown up in the past few years.
That's an understatement because NVMe drives are dirt cheap now, SSDs in general are and the guy's point it's also irrelevant because the difference in loading times between a sata SSD and an NVMe one is marginal, the important thing is the damn thing being an SSD and not a disc shaped magnet going Brrrrr.
Hell even boot times comparing a sata ssd and an m.2 are pretty close.

I won't ever buy into the m.2 drive meme again, every time I build a system from now on I will just use a sata ssd.

God.
I want to support this guy.
He has a point.
I agree with his core argument but he sucks at presenting it and it's fueled with his personal spite.

We are gonna have the z list tech tubers that can only get the usual VPN, shitty mobile app, or CD keys jumping in for attention and acting like they are shining examples of virtue.

Half this shit is about declining ad and marketing bucks being thrown around now that the industry is sharply declining. Channels are fighting for dollars. You get the shitty mobile app channel guy bitching brands will not send samples unless their company is some alibaba trash tier product. You get the technically sound but limited marketability guys bitching they only get samples and not a fixed term marketing deal, and so forth.

Everyone takes sponsorship of some level. Some people are just absolute dicks about it and want to throw it in your face to the point where you know more about their home than you ever wanted to, what the latest fancy thing they drive us, and how much people are throwing at them to buy their company. There is a line where it stops being some quirky image you put out there and everyone just calls you out for being a massive asshole.

Likeability is just as important as trust, maybe even more so. Linus spent years dividing a potential fanbase, throwing his shitty politics in everyone's face and acting like some morally superior faggot that cured cancer. This steamrolled him because he has projected an image of a deeply unlikeable human being, one that cowers behind an LGBT shield while being a closet tranny hater at that.

Fake as fuck.

Fashion magazines are filled with ads by clothing companies
Car magazines are filled with ads by car and parts companies
Photography mags are filled with gear ads
ect, ect, ect

Hell, even 'prestigious' publications like NYTimes or WSJ will take ad bucks from companies they cover.

Enthusiasts publications rely on ads from the stuff they cover because those are the only ones who are willing to pay decent rates - ie putting a Dior ad into Car and Driver is dumb. The issue is what kind of separation there is between editorial and the money.

Another reason I can't take Coreteks seriously is IIRC, some years ago, he actually made a video that said that this generation of consoles will finally outpace the PC because... they have an NVMe storage that not all PCs will have...

Um... ok? Not all PCs have high end GPUs either. It hasn't aged particularly well because relatively more affordable NVMe drives have shown up in the past few years.
That and the "better IO" line I'd see spammed but never any further details or clarification was a really weird attempt at marketing.

Response to the Philip DeFranco Video

Q: Was the Billet Labs prototype “stolen”?

A: Billet Labs agreed to send us a prototype after we expressed interest in covering the product. Billet Labs agreed to send us the product and said we could keep the prototype instead of returning the product. However, after the release of the video Billet Labs then offered the opportunity to cover a follow up 4090 waterblock, for a future video. Then about 4 days later they requested the return of the block. LMG agreed to return it along with the 3090 Ti.

Q: Why was there a delay in the return of Billet Labs property?

A: The writer of the project handed off the return to another department, but communication was missed. The writer then went on vacation for 2 weeks, returning just before LTX. During this time there was no communication sent from either Billet Labs or LMG. After LTX, upon return to office, the writer followed up with Billet Labs to make sure that they had been sent their property. It was

Q: Why was the prototype block sold?

A: The block was added to a list of products available in a charity auction that was being held at LTX 2023, the company’s fan expo. The goal was to provide unique and rare items for community members to purchase. The prototype ended up being selected, as our internal systems had the item listed as company property, rather than as a return. This was due to a communication error between Billet Labs, the writer of the video, and the procurement team at LMG. The block never should have been part of the auction. (adam)

Q: What are your thoughts on members of the community feeling this initial controversy wasn’t taken seriously due to jokes about store plugs, kicks to sponsores, and the video addressing the situation being monetized?

A: We're LMG. Even when our content is serious, we have elements of fun in it. This has always been our style and we wanted to send a message to our community that just because the suits are talking about workflows and processes, the fun isn't going away. Jokes aside - we have a decade-long unbroken streak of daily videos. To pull back this dramatically I think shows how seriously we're taking community's feedback. We didn't include a sponsor for the video and we heard the feedback from our community and from our team internally and we turned off Adsense monetization for this video.

Q: What is your response to the allegations levied by former employee Madison Reeve and will there be any action taken?

A: We are taking the allegations very seriously. Immediately, our HR team will be conducting a thorough assessment of the allegations. We've already begun combing our personnel files and past notes and correspondences to see if we can corroborate any of what's being said. Furthermore, we will also be hiring an outside investigator to look into the allegations and will commit to publishing the findings and implementing any corrective actions that may arise because of this. When we are ready, we will release a statement. For now, we would ask that we allow our team the time they need be as thorough as possible. As this will take some time and due to our employee confidentiality responsibilities we may not be able to provide a comprehensive statement until we've completed our investigation. We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. In addition to our existing report systems (both anonymous and otherwise) we've proactively reached out internally today to encourage members of our team to report any workplace bullying or harassment they might be experiencing so we can take quick and decisive action. We are halting video production and will be reducing our video output in the coming weeks as we strive to provide improvements to processes and work-life balance for our employees.

EDIT:

So it looks like reddit admins removed the madison post. Comments are still there but the actual tweet screenshots were removed.

I've been looking for Linus defenders on youtube and there's a couple:

Livestream of 2 guys where 1 takes the Linus dicksucking side hard, it's funny because the live chat and the comments under the video are up and you can see people calling him out for gunt guarding Linus

And this comment under a video supercut of the jokes they included in the apology:

The mouse thing was wrong, and also auctioning it was bad.
The "drama" regarding that cooler by the 2-man company is hilarious because from my perspective it's actually their fault
I can sort of see not taking out pitchforks for the block because the company did say they could keep it. I am still surprised (but not really) that they get to keep a review sample without nothing more than the worst written email chain I have ever seen. Especially from a social media company, I would imagine they would keep good documentation of any product they get so that if anyone complains, then the drama (and/or lawsuits) can be shut down very very quickly.

In the end Billet Labs got a huge boost of notoriety and good publicity. They also likely wanted to be seen taking the more high ground by accepting the sum, and exit the story while they are seen as the well-intentioned good guys who were hurt by the big, bad corporation that hides sexual harassment.

The writer of the project handed off the return to another department, but communication was missed. The writer then went on vacation for 2 weeks, returning just before LTX. During this time there was no communication sent from either Billet Labs or LMG. If I were Adam I would be majorly pissed (unless he fucked up the "communication").
Although LTT has not pushed him at the front of the controversy, he and Linus were the face of that video. Adam's email was included in all screenshots too. I haven't seen people hating on Adam, but at the back of our minds we all probably thought it was on him.
Once again this is logistics.

Old (8 yrs ago) moving video where the logistic guy genuinely asks if there should be an entry for "bucket of GPUs" or by individual GPU?

More recent (5 years ago) video on organising their current office where Linus is complaining that people are not doing even the bare minimum to try to keep things organised

Somehow I always knew Linus and Steve from GN would have a massive falling out. Not surprised to see how sloppy LTT has become, I think most of their production time these days is spent coming up with new retarded faces for their thumbnails.

I think this will blow over though and despite Linus being a faggot and Canadian (so double faggot) most of his weird simps will return to gobble up the vapid garbage LTT puts out.

100+ employees and they all fucking fail simple production 101 is beyond fucking incredible. Billet Labs sent the block along with a compatible 3090ti and in the video they bitch about not being able to find it. Nigga what the fuck is your "logistics" department even for if they can't even manage the most basic task of getting shit together for a shoot.
A lot of companies that started small have this issue of treating employees as friends. They don't want to rock the boat and call someone out for a fuck up, they'd rather just keep being nice and hope the employee corrects themselves. They avoid using authority even when its needed and their companies run like shit as a result. "I can fuck up, its no big deal" is a pretty bad mindset to let your employees fall into.
