Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

You can always just cover the vent at the possible cost of some performance and thermal throttling.
That could work, however I do love having rads mounted at the top and the thought of covering the vent hurts my heart.
Depending on configuration, case type/size and cooling needs your mileage will vary.

My PC case is from 2015-2016. The feet on the bottom are round they have rubber pads and they keep the case about 1/4 of an inch off the table. There is no way for liquid to get inside the PC case from a typical spill. Even if you are the kind of person that puts your PC case on the floor next to your desk you shouldn't put drinks near your PC where if they spill the liquid will run off the table and into the PC. That's as stupid as putting them on top of the case. Don't do it.
I got a Corsair 780t (white edition) and is too big to put on or under my desk; but always try to have my tower sit to my right. Even if I were to spill a drink, it'd have to travel all the way across my desk, over my desk mat, and off the edge; all before I manage to grab some napkins or something to stop the spread. Can it happen, sure, but gonna have to do all the right things to get over there and fall at a great enough angle away from my desk to get into the top vent area of my case.

While I get the sentiment from both of you, I can’t help but disagree with both proposals.

First, ditching and replacing is ridiculous, and at no point would I ever be possessed to do so unless there was irreparable damage. It’s unnecessarily wasteful, you should value and care for what you own.
As Linus states, and he is absolutely right, if you catch it early enough, and do clean them, they will work just fine the majority of the time.

Second point, yes it would be better to not to ever be caught in that situation; although for people who have children this is unlikely. So I’m not sure how this is a good solution.

All around one of his better videos as a tech “tip”, and valuable knowledge for someone who doesn’t know, like a teenager (someone without much money) or someone new to PC gaming, building, etc.
Hence why I said that you check for damage. If it's gone, ditch it. If it can be fixed, fix it.

Ah, I realize upon rereading that when you said “affected” you meant damaged, not just drenched or otherwise coated with liquid.
Apologies, I’m a Linux user and am retarded.

I use the Fractal Pop Air, two 5.25" bays hidden away under a magnetic cover at the bottom.
Well there is some hope. And probably there are more with 3 bays.

I would like to have in a future pc a blu-ray writer, some multiple usb/card slots and if there is more space a drawer for putting thumb drives.

If all else fails, you can buy external Blu-ray drives nowadays if you can't find a decent case with drive bays.

I've been pretty happy with Cougar cases. They have some of the fancy "gamer" case features, but also do a good job with decent-sized, well-ventilated mid-tower type cases with out-of-fashion 5.25" bays and stuff like that. And without "gamer" prices, i.e. sucker prices.

On the backplate of my 980ti. 80 degrees C should be enough, right?
You can use an GTX 480. Meat is cooked better with it.

Not really LTT related but i'm sure they've done it; why do people like watching "I roast viewers setups" videos.

How is that at all interesting? I know jayzfatcents is having "health" problems, but this shit is just bottom of the bottom.

On a LTT note; he pays his employees so badly they have to drive beat up 20 year old cars.

I don't know about that specific channel, but in general I think those videos & streams have 3 appeals:
1. People like to make fun of setups that are bad.
2. People like to appreciate setups that they like and get ideas from them. Let's be real this is basically the same as a ton of other aesthetic based hobbies - like some suburban mom is out there watching YT videos about a barn style kitchen remodel while her gamer son is watching videos about an RGB gamer PC setup. Different topic, different demographic, same appeal.
3. People want that bit of attention high that comes from their own setup getting featured on a popular channel.

This Linus car video is actually worthwhile, their car review stuff has been pretty gay but this one shows simple things to make an older car more viable. I do wish they would have at least cleaned up the car with a detail because even for 20 years old the car looked like it was never washed (I hate these type of people). They also do the correct thing in using actual real brand parts from Sony as opposed to some cheap Temu chynesium for the lolz.

Of course, this being Linus, it has to circle back to his Porsche and how the camera sucks in it compared to the one they put in the Civic, and how he needs to put this display in his wife's Honda minivan.

>Spill coke over PC

I'm wondering if this happens to anyone, ever. I've spilt drinks at my desk but never directly ONTO the PC.

My mouse is on the left so all drinks are automatically on the right. The only time I've spilt drinks was due to other people interrupting me and my arm swayed into the cups.

Also if you're gonna spill coke, you're probably fucking fat. Just lick it all up. Hopefully you short the power supply with your tongue in the process.
Fat
Lol

My PC is on a table to my left ( so I get to see the beautiful solid side panel on my glass panel case ) and drinks to my right. Any spilled drink just gets on the table and floor, IDK who would ever have the PC in a place where you could easily spill on it.
But, these are Canucks. They're retarded.
