Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • Happy Easter!
guy above me is a seething gay retard that didn't read the mil specs

half of this shit was written 40 years ago and even the ewaste coming straight out of the chinese sewers these days meets or exceeds them :ow:

the military has a specification for what goes into a walky talky, and what goes into an intercontinental ballistic missile, and they are not the same thing

it is 100% marketing fluff

Indeed. "military spec/grade" is just marketing language to sell shit to people who don't know better.

Yeah, after the amount of marketing fluff Steve had to cut through for that video I'm not going to fault him for not hunting down one of dozens of spec sheets that might make the thing he's looking at actually military grade. I will say though, that as someone planning on getting either a 5080 or a marked-down 4080/90 once the new generation launches, I don't feel much better informed after watching the video. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to the details, or maybe the details the manufacturers gave weren't actually worth much, but the only actual technical detail worth anything that I remember from it is that the waifu card from the company I'd never heard of before probably has bad airflow thanks to a giant plastic bit covering a fan.

Guess I'll just keep waiting for folks to get actual hands-on with the cards.

Wasn't much, like last episode (Linus and Yvonne went to Scotland and the UK for 3-4 days after Christmas and he got all pissy he wasn't treated with respect in a diamond store), but in this episode there's some CES talk and at 53:00 there is talk about the LA fires and how Colin and Samir's houses burned down along with Bitwits. Linus does have a TDS moment where he says there's nothing political to talk about and people who are doing so are being horrible, ie Trump. Faggot leaf pretends this fire is not directly tied to the horrible management of CA by democrats.

The only other big thing is at 1:56:30 is Linus is going to be on The Tonight Show tomorrow the 13th. He's going to bring some CES tech stuff to show off to the audience and Jimmy Faggot and Fag Bunny.

Steve, is that you?

There are plenty of decades old specs in use because they are industry standards. They are not iPhones where they are updated every year to the next version.
I wouldn't blame a company using it as marketing, that's their angle. Are the components legit mil-spec? According to ASUS they run their boards through a battery of tests. Overkill for a consumer solution? Yes. Total nonsense as implied? No. There are different qualification orgs depending on end solution and what they require. This is true for commercial, industrial, automotive, military/aerospace, your vibrating butt-plug.

Point out the "Walky-Talky" spec and the "Intercontinental Ballistic Missile" mil spec for me, so my autism can tingle. You won't, you can't because you do not know what you are referring to.

Talk about people who don't know any better. It's the mocking of what you don't understand, like Steve, and the stupidity is so obvious. So stupid, it burns.

ah, boasting about meeting military specifications is retarded and targeted marketing aimed at gullible kids. Ridiculing it is completely justified.
I wouldn't disagree. It' comes across as overkill.

The stupidity for Steve and even some of you dumb Kiwi's is the difference between marketing what one is actually doing vs. marketing an incredulous connection to fool people. In this case just because a component is in a walky-talky used by your tranny brother in boot camp is the same component in your Wi-FI butt-plug automatically makes your sex toy military grade.

If ASUS is taking mil-spec parts, testing them to a battery of mil-spec standards and marketing that then that's 100% legit. They will be more robust than consumer grade components. How much cost is that adding? How much more operating life does that add? Is it worth that cost? Wow, those would be good things to test for your "tech" channel. Besides being dismissive, and *thinking* you know better.

Have some pride and dig a little deeper, faggot.

Something about how everyone will shit on Harbor Freight tools; but they also bought a dozen 10mm sockets from them.
sockets are different from ratchets. ive broken a few teeth on their ratchets before. their hand trucks suck too since they need to be filled with air instead of being a solid chunk of rubber.

I'm flattered, but no, I am not gay.

Niggers have a hard time thinking. I understand. This is the same shit Steve n' Company tried with Thermaltake regarding Kelvin or Celsius.

MIL-STD-202. Latest version released in 2015. Took 5 minutes to find. Try again.
You're still missing the point award.

Look at the specific tests they have claimed to pass and tell me how relevant they are to motherboards.

I hope he does Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel next, I really want the swamp to learn how not to do Youtube.

Now I am getting MATI.
Steve just uploaded a new video, and one topic was the ASUS 5090 video card. He goes on an autistic nitpick about the marketing specific to their marketing "Military Grade Components" and states that members of their audience who served in the military knows what that truly means. If you read the comment section, you'll see shit like this:
MIL-SPEC electronic components exist and those are absolutely not MIL-SPEC. A proper MIL-SPEC capacitor costs in the dollars-per-part range and ASUS is, like all OEMs, allergic to spending money. I don't even see conformal coating to protect against water on the PCB which means a lot of the mil-spec is worthless so lmao

Ideally, they would use automotive spec parts since AEC-Q100/200 adds maybe a few cents to a price rather than dollars, and has rigorous guarantees around part quality and supply.

Steve is not an electrical or any other kind of engineer and it shows. I do appreciate he tries at least.

Why are you the way you are?
You realize they aren't actually "milspec" components, don't you? You can look up the part numbers. They aren't. They aren't claiming they're "milspec" components. They're claiming that they pass certain batteries of tests from military specifications for certain components. Which are nothing more than the basic specs needed to function as a product.

Linus talks that he wants to buy a Yatch and techify it, I find funny how he claims to be the "voice of people" but it's very out of touch with the reality
I cannot wait until he brings three mouthbreathers from the warehouse floor over to punch holes into the body of a fucking yacht to provide watercooling for his onboard servers. That poor boat is going to be beyond fucked.

I thought this was just going to be Linus listing project ideas at first, but he's already picked out a boat (touring it next week), has company buy-in, and sounds like he can delegate a lot of the project to Dan and the less retarded engineers. I give it a >90% chance of happening.

And honestly, my gut says that even if retooling the boat ends up being a disaster, it is probably a viable way to renew interest in his channel and get other YouTubers to talk about him again (and visit his boat). So many of his videos rn are low-effort 'reacting to reddit' slop, this would at the very least generate some original videos again.
