"The Problem with Linus Tech Tips Part 2: Honey Boogaloo."
Well Steve finally did it. But Linus is a tiny aspect of it where he shits in his rationale.
That said though, I feel like a lot of Steve’s points were “it avoids people becoming Linus” without directly saying it

Bob's Used Kia and Hyundai doesn't have "the best selection in all of Maryland", Best Buy doesn't have "unbeatable prices" and Carlsberg is not "the best lager in the world".

You have to be literally autistic to not understand advertisement puffery.
It's a shitty affiliate code plugin. Who cares?
What you're describing is hyperbole. 7.8 billion views worth of shills 100% seriously stating that honey will scan the entire web for the best coupons is not hyperbole, it is deadpan.

Who cares? The two entities who fucking filed two lawsuits, for a start. The public who supports them because paypal is satanic.
your contention is now about "misinformation"?
actually it was always about false advertising, you're just pretending to be retarded (or you actually are retarded)

was on board the "lol idc" train before, but I didn't realize that such a big part of his income in the beginning came from affiliate links. I never thought about it that way. It sure does suck for people trying to get into the space if they're losing affiliate revenue through absolutely zero fault of their own! I mean, I've never used an affiliate link, 'cuz I never buy shit, like, right after watching a video about it, but I guess I'd be pretty pissed about this too if I were a kawntent kreator.
If your content relies solely on being a paid shill, your content has no value whatsoever.

How many years were Best Buy saying their prices were unbeatable as they sold HDMI cables for $100? What difference?

I don't care if some dog-bite lawyer is trying to sue them. Why should we care? It's a shit browser plugin. The retards who download shit based on Youtube sponsorships consequently saving $25 instead of $30 on a Walmart coupon is not a story. Neither is JerryRigEverything losing 2.5 cents from his own content farm spam. Affiliate code shills are all internet cancer anyway.

Why should we care
because steve from gamers nexus is based and consumer protection pilled, while linus is a whiny little BLM supporting vaccine mandating faggot canadian who cares more about his own public image than he does about letting people know what a deceptive piece of shit the software he's been shilling to his audience is

honestly, sponsorships, affiliate links, and direct advertising are all content creators abusing their audience and no one should be putting up with it. These are the creator saying “my audience means nothing to be but dollar signs and I’m willing to sell them to whoever for a pittance.

There are plenty of ways to make a profit in your content that doesn’t involve treating your audience like a bunch of mindless idiots willing to buy nordvpn subscriptions and Dbrand stickers.
Honey was a stupid app and I never used it, but I would also never want people to not use it if they got money from it. These YouTubers would not care if the percentage got taken from your pay, you shouldn’t care about them.
Plus, it isn’t illegal for a coupon company to make deals with retailers. This has been going on for decades. Honey says it finds the best deals it knows about, not the best deals ever, there’s fine print. This is no different from the “SAVE up to 90% OFF!!” Signs you see at discount outlets. For this reason alone, I do not believe any of these lawsuits will work. And I will go further and say I don’t actually think Honey is in the wrong. I fucking hate paypal, I hate honey, and I have always refused to use any product or service that uses YouTubers or streamers to shill(which means I never used Honey on principle), but they offered a service of providing convenient coupons to consumers and they provided that service exactly as the company promised it would.

Get fucked YouTubers. Find a better way to monetize next time

That said, fuck Linus, he has literally always been a corporate shill. Day one of his YouTube career was being a corporate shill, and he never changed. Steven is usually in the right place, but he’s just backing the wrong horse here. Saving consumers money and keeping them safe from advertising should go above everything else.

Are you unemployed?
Idk why, but this clip immediately came to mind when I read this

But to answer, no, I do indeed have a job.

Haven't watched any of this honey drama from Linus' end because he is a faggot and I can't listen to his voice for more than 20 seconds

That being said I'm glad Steve called him out for being a loser with his limp dick response. I don't care about the actual effect of honey on creators and I only used it all of 10 minutes before I realized it wasn't giving me the best coupons. That being said Linus gave entirely the wrong reason for not speaking up about it.

"Oh people are gonna get mad at me, oh woe is me there would be backlash if I said this"

Shut the fuck up you soylent-steel tool, how many times have you said intentionally retarded shit for the drama. You live for it. Not to mention the size of you base, you're not some breakout channel who can lose it all with one bad move.

Small Anthony update. He's going to be uploading videos "soon".

Keep up the great work Steve. Just think about how many gaming-adjacent topics are out there to make a new hit piece. "Gaming Journalism" will always trend away from hardware reviews into more contentious topics and endless sperging over temperature units and whatnot. Great stuff. This thread will live to see page 5000.
