‘Log off! Log off!’ teacher orders students when sexual assault livestreamed during first grader’s remote learning class

An 18-year-old man out on bond for a gun case was held without bail after he livestreamed himself during a sexual act with a 7-year-old first grader on break from her Chicago Public Schools remote learning class on Thursday prosecutors said.

Catrell A. Walls, of the West Chesterfield neighborhood on the South Side, was arrested Thursday afternoon shortly after 3:30 p.m., after he was seen molesting the girl , police said.

Walls, charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under 13 years old, appeared for a bond hearing Saturday afternoon before Judge Charles Beach.

Police were made aware of the attack when the girl’s teacher saw it on a computer screen during a Google classroom e-learning session.

Walls showed complete disregard of children and a “wanton callousness for human life,” Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Andreana Turano told Beach.

In addition to Thursday afternoon’s incident, which alarmed multiple students who viewed it and were heard asking, “What’s going on, what’s happening?” the victim told authorities Walls has a history of sexually assaulting her, for the last year, Turano said.

The victim initially said Walls “just hit her” and said it was a “secret,” Turano told Beach.

"The victim disclosed ‘he made me put my lips on (him) and this has happened before, and I don’t want my daddy to know, it’s a secret,'’' Turano said, quoting the victim.

This was broadcast in the daytime on a website accessible to many young students, while the girl was on a break from the class during a time when her teacher asked the students to turn off their cameras and mute themselves.

The 7-year-old muted herself but did not turn off the camera. When the teacher saw them performing oral sex, she repeatedly ordered all the students to log off and then called out the victim’s name and told her to turn off the camera.

“She saw the defendant close the computer,” Turano said.

The teacher called the police, the school principal and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Officers went to the victim’s location, and Walls was arrested after she identified him.

While being taken into custody, Walls began crying and said, “I don’t know why,” said Turano, adding he also said, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

Walls is a senior in high school and plans on finishing, said his lawyer. He works 40 hours a week, sometimes six days a week, in construction; has “extensive family ties,” including several siblings and other relatives; and is not a flight risk.

Walls has no history of sexual crimes, or violent crimes, his attorney said, adding Walls has been diagnosed with a disorder that impairs his ability to control his impulses and concentration, said the lawyer, calling it “somewhat of a disability.”

Beach, before ordering no bail for Walls, said he had several reasons he made that decision, the first being Walls was “currently on bail for a felony offense.”

Additionally, the crime was “broadcast on video … multiple people saw it, including the teacher,” Beach said.

The judge also noted that the victim’s outcry was “immediate” to the principal of her school and others, and Walls made an “admission,” said the judge.

During an unrelated news conference on Friday, Chicago Public Schools CEO Janice Jackson called the situation “disturbing.”

Jackson said the district in recent years has increased supports for students who experience sexual assault or harm, and teachers or counselors are often the first to identify an issue a student is facing.

“We provide a lot of basic needs for our students, and safety is one of them,” Jackson said.

“DCFS has already reported a dramatic decrease in the number of cases reported. ... We know these things have not stopped occurring, but what has happened is there are fewer watchful eyes looking at students, connecting with students to make sure that they’re safe.”

Walls was arrested late one recent evening with a loaded Glock handgun, Turano said, and he was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a pending case that is up for arraignment Nov. 30th.

Walls will be back in court on the sexual assault case Oct. 19.

I hope leaving the camera on was her game plan to thwart this fucking disgusting individual. He doesn’t look too bright and probably couldn’t tell if the stream was live or not. Poor girl. She’s going to grow up with all sorts of mental anguish. I really wish we could throw these types of people, nude, into a pit of those bullet ants.

Stories like these are getting depressing. We need more @CatParty type articles that are fun to laugh at.
About that...

I have another pedo article coming up
Kill this guy with a flamethrower. Start with the feet.
No, too quick. Get a bucket and one or 2 rats and put it over the stomach and then heat the bucket so the rats have to crawl out of him to escape.

I'm not sure how lenient the law is, but I'd imagine recording the incident, even as evidence for police, might risk one getting walloped with recording/possessing child pornography. I understand the good intentions, but there might not be any moral gray area with the laws. EDIT: I'd posit only glowies are probably able to get away with it. Really makes you think...

Ideally I hope I'm never in the situation to be making that decision. I don't think the teacher telling everyone to log off first is wrong. Just witnessing sexual abuse can cause lasting psychological trauma as well. These are also seven year old kids who don't know any better about what the hell is going on.
I know there's a clear divide between civvies and glowies, but glowies use their endless cache of CP to catfish pedos all the time. Anyone with a rational brain would call this evidence of a crime that needed to be recorded, handed over, then deleted, but unfortunately the fuckers who write the laws may not.

if I saw a child getting sexually assaulted on a live stream infront of me, my first reaction probably wouldn't be to start shouting for the victim to turn off the camera and end the live stream.

dunno how Zoom works, this was on Zoom right? dunno if they passively record streams so cops have access to the footage, but I probably would have started recording as I called the cops.

just thought that was an odd reaction from the teacher. "THAT KIDS BEING MADE TO SUCK DICK, KID STOP, END THE STREAM FIRST"
Its almost like witnessing a child molestation is really shocking and disorientating or something.

you're right, my mistake for expecting someones first reaction to be wanting to actually help the kid instead of just gettin' it off the screen as fast as possible.
As was stated earlier, The teacher probably didn't want the other students to have to see that shit. Can't blame her. The pedo's already fucked, no point letting the kids see anymore than they already seen.

I'm not going to argue the point. If you people think that her reaction was justified, sure, I'm not blaming her.

I've just seen enough news stories and heard enough personal stories of Pedophilies fucking people and walking free that my first instinct would've been to immediately get evidence going.

but according to earlier posts in this thread that may've got me fined with child porn, so what do I know? I just wouldn't want this to turn into the teacher going "HE WAS FUCKIN' THAT KID" and both the kid and guy deny it and the cops have nothing.

You can't expect people to act in a 100% rational manner all the time. I personally doubt the fear of being charged with CP even remotely crossed the teacher's mind at the time though. I think it's more of an "everyone else and I have seen enough; just take the scary video away pls" response tbh. The kids obviously did see something so it wouldn't be just one word against theirs, but a whole classroom of witnesses able to attest to the fact that some weird shit happened on that day.

When the teacher saw them performing oral sex
This is most horrifying. Public executions needs to make a comeback. At the very least his penis must be removed. There can be no weaker punishment.

He's 18 years old and black: there is little chance of him doing any real time.

long as he got caught in the end of the day is all that matters.

I guess they were more concerned with the students seeing their classmate (or anyone really) getting molested. Still, I probably would've told the other students to log off, called the cops, and try to find a way to make sure the meeting got recorded for the cops to use as evidence.
You’re pretty bang on with that,
not to power level too much but zoom teaching can be an utter nightmare, many of the teachers are unsure what to do when situations like that arise on a live video feed.
commonly it’s something much more innocent like a parent swearing or in their underwear in the background and the teacher quickly asks the student to turn their camera off/ mute with perhaps a few students giggling in the class then forgetting about it later on.

I feel for everyone in the situation Especially the girl. the poor kids in the class and the teacher who has to live with what was subjected to her other fist graders. Fuck that guy man.

From what I have heard, generally they take that into account. No jury in the world would convict that teacher and I doubt a DA would be dumb enough to even try

The "what if's" are a fair point though. You can't necessarily judge an action by its results.. The same action may yield different, perhaps opposite, results depending on the situation. The fact that her trying to shield the other children from exposure to such depravity could have resulted in the pedo walking free isn't totally invalid as a criticism. But in this case, I don't think that's a reasonable concern. The kids saw something for sure.
