Loki - Discussion Thread - Marvel new capeshit cashgrab

Loki is Marvel new cashgrab trying to appeal to your senses with nostalgia. The whole shows revolves around Loki, God of Mischief, going on wacky adventures thru time and space and of course filled to the brim with nostalgia and call-backs to previous movies/series for the fucking neckbeard soy drinking faggots that like capeshit and made their whole life and personality around that product.

The episode 1 from the series is actually pretty good. I'm a sucker for all things that involve time-travel and the episode portrays it pretty accurately. The Infinity Stones are just paperweights in a place that is beyond space of time, which is pretty realistic considering how powerful could be a place outside regular time-space, and surprisingly the characters aren't as woke as I expected to be.

The good things:
I'm amazed that Tom Hiddleston could maintain the Loki character from almost 10 years ago. The writing they done on the character is really good too, trying to parse together his personality from the Avengers of 2012 with his most recent incarnation seen in Infinity War.

Owen Wilson as Owen Wilson. Oh Wow!

Time-Space setting with actual explanation on how it functions and limits.

A very good setup (mystery box) to propel the story forward (contrary to falcon and the winter soldier).

The Bad things:
Using nostalgia to bait idiots to pay for Disney+. Showing you a lot of imagery from past movies. Speaking of events from past movies

The sets are horrendous. The lighting is horrendous. The special effects are shit, like holy shit that's bad! The costume design is shit! They could have gone wacky with the whole aesthetic of a place apart from time-space but they just went for just bland and mediocre stuff. Is awful.

The camera! whole shit is bad filmography! So many static and back to back close shots. It gives you the feeling of claustrophobia and dread, contrary to what is being discussed in the plot.

I believe that Loki shows promise (only in the sense of telling a good story) but, like all modern media, will eventually fuck it up with some stupid woke message.

[Product Placement]

I like the first episode, was nice it was more about Loki's character than bad action and making unfunny jokes (note are unfunny jokes just don't feel like they are at the expense of undermining what is going on like in most Marvel movies and shows) . Also first time the bland Marvel visuals and lighting have worked, they suit really do suit that office like environment however outside that location they still don't and will never work. With all that said I don't expect them to keep it up, I give it to episode 3 or 4 before it goes back to the normal Marvel capehshit formula like they did with Wandavision.

The chemistry between Tom and Owen is great, but the thing that's impressed me the most so far is the music and tone. It's created a really interesting balance of melancholy and alien-sounding.
