A few months back she attempted suicide but was saved. Shondo and the rest of her family tried to have her stay at the hospital since they knew as a fact she would try it again if she were released. The British healthcare system being the British healthcare system said "lol it will be fine"....

That was 2 months ago. After the suicide Shondo went on hiatus (but is returning some time this week). She went offline partially out of grief and partially because as the new head of the household she had to take care of everything left in the aftermath of the suicide, made much harder by things like how the British gov wouldn't hand over the body for 2 WEEKS after the suicide so they could have a funeral despite it being the most clear cut case ever.

I think there are small, non vocal segments of people with those paraphilias who really don't WANT it to grow, and probably have it fester in silence, but are made worse by infection vectors which spur the worst out of people.

You aren't entirely wrong, but I think its a 3 point connection triangle of like the paraphilia itself / how deep it is, ones unwillingness to resist, and surroundings encouraging it as risk factors. They feed into each other and make it worse, 0 points being safe, 1 point being troublesome, 2 being hazardous, and 3 being obscenely dangerous.
