Libreoffice has Excel-like functionality. It depends on how much Excel you need. It works fine for a spreadsheet but probably won't do all the fancy scripting.

If you want it exclusively online, and if you can tolerate it being hosted by french people, then I suggest you cryptpad. It's open source and allows you to do collaborative spreadsheets and word documents without login

There is also Apache Openoffice. But it's the same as Libre Office. Don't pay for MS Office. They spy on you.

Easily the worst part of trying to move off of Excel is that the scripting and macros are basically nonexistent in the alternatives.

If you happen to trip and find a clean version of office 2007 blue edition that would do the trick, at least until MS decides to create a new set of office file formats too new for it to open.

Massive emphasis on "clean" though.
