Been playin this shit. Let's talk about it.

Laughed my ass off at that scene in the rain on the mountain top where all the villagers are killed by churchbad with the crappy music and voice acting making what I assume was meant to be an emotional scene/turning point for Armen absolutely hilarious.

Anyway it's fun, I'm enjoying my time for having spent a total of zero dollars, until Amazon shoves their cock forcibly down my throat I'll remain positive about it.

OCE/SEA servers when.

Another mmo game to add to the mmo deadpool my bet is this summer.
The grind does seem pretty intense, personally I am just treating it as a solo player Diablo type, I do not have the energy to min max.

Not sure if it has the staying power at this point or it's just huge because of hype.

Haven't played this yet but it seems they spent a ton of money on building hype on Twitch with big streamers. Is it any good or does everyone think it will be another New World situation?
I didn't play New World so I can't speak on that front.

All I know is that Amazon did not make this game, it was made by a Korean company and has been successfully running over there for 2+ years, Amazon just have the publishing rights for Western release.

For me it's fun so far and seems pretty well made, voice acting is horrifying and the story is pretty eh, but the gameplay itself is fun and lots of collectables crap for a casual fag like me.

Been playing it and got to level 27, its decent mindless fun and I've heard the endgame fights are reasonably engaging though the class balance is sketchy (their are a few trash or too weak for effort needed sort of classes). I skip the plot after the first 4-5 levels because it felt very generic "demons invade, kill them or something" shit, but I find it funny how much they try to sell this story with these epic cutscenes (some of which you can't skip) and I'm just skipping over it. I almost feel bad for the people who even remotely tried to sell this story.

The gist I've heard about the grind is that having alts (5 total + your main as their is a hard cap for alt grinding in KR) is ideal if you want to progress remotely quickly as a f2p, it is about 1-2 hours a week per alt and 1-2 hours a day for your main will give you reasonable progression speed (for a KR mmo). Luckily grinding alts is easy and relatively painless as the stronghold system eventually gives you a building that lets you level your alts passively (while playing them as well) once you reach level 52 on a character and you can mash skip everything. You also share money, mounts, pets, etc to make it easy. This is a pretty alt friendly game.

Decent game, doubt it'll have a ton of staying power relative to its current success as it is just a KR grinder with a decent amount of pay to win or pay to skip systems, but f2p isn't impossible or as bad as I've seen in many KR MMOs.

I don't even play videogames anymore because the consumerism surrounding them grosses me out too much, but as far as I understand this is basically just a PvE game, and I don't fully understand the point of purely PvE MMOs. If all you're doing is fighting NPCs, what do you actually get out of it that you wouldn't get from any other game?

To me in every game from WoW to Runescape to even stuff like Dark Souls, what provides motivation into the end game has always been PvP. Without that you have no outlet through which to exercise your disdain for casuals and normies. They're permitted to just, like...be around, totally ignorant to how bad they are. Disgusting.

I suck. But I like being able to do a chill dungeon with some friends.

I've heard this is actually PvP in this game and it's quite fun, though that is just second hand information I've received from friends.

As far as the story goes, it's been pretty whatever so far, but the cutscene direction has been pretty good to be honest, they sell spectacle quite well. There been a few moments where I felt super bad ass just from the visuals alone. Props to the animators.

I was interested until the Amazon logo popped up on my screen..
Same, especially after they westernized the game by making some of the characters black or brown. Also the face pre-sets are all changed from asian looking to african or european. Thing is, the pre-sets are very important for the rest of the facial customization, so trying to recreate faces from the korean or russian version is impossible.

I like this game for being a really polished Diablo-clone, but I can't really get into the hype. The combat is definitely its strong point, but there's only so much mindless hack-n-slash I can stomach, especially when I have to wait in a goddamn queue just to play for a couple hours before getting bored. Playing with friends breaks up the monotony a lot.

I'm playing Female Gunslinger right now and gun swapping is a really fun mechanic, though not sure how viable this class is in the long run. I'll probably play this at a casual pace and if I get left behind because of the grindwall, oh well.

>not being a sweatlord parsefag

different strokes for different folks. people like to claim pvp is a bigger challenge, but most of the time it boils down to out-cheesing the competition, even worse when it comes to stealth and ganking.

I'm enjoying it as something mindless to play while listening to podcasts, as everyone else is saying the combat feels good and I could not give a shit about the story.

Definitely enjoying having the chill collectible shit to run around and do while messing around and watching movies with friends.

Cash shop seems pretty not thrown in my face so I'm thankful, just hit level 50 today so we will see how things progress on that front.

Thought the presentation of the tournament/colleseum arc thing in Asia was neat. I've not been paying too much attention to the story but it's been less annoying not having to run off to Armin or Thirein every two seconds.

What is it with Asian Games and having a little people race that talk like retarded children?

So I recently learned that Lost Ark's plot is actually noticeably trimmed down or hidden away in optional side content in an effort to make it appease players who don't give a shit about MMO storylines. This explains why you start immediately at level 10, why you just immediately get your advanced class which makes the base class choice seem pointless, and your classes' backstory is summed up in a sudden surge of exposition as opposed to you actually seeing it happen at all. Video time stamped below explains briefly the entire 1-50 storyline, and says what parts were cut. tl;dr is: The very start and a notable portions of the middle are missing or made optional so the timeline is fucked unless you know the order already, some of these aspects actually sound fairly cool why the fuck did Amazon take out the part with the two parts that involve corrupted dragons yet keep Arman's kill stealing ass as-is?

Another humorous thing was NotChina (spelled "Anihc") was changed to "Anikka" for mucho social credit bonus and Arman's original name was "Aman" which was changed for...some reason. Even if the story in this game is shit or generic or whatever in its entirety, it still feels weird to just axe it which makes whatever narrative that is here just lost.

Funny thing is the wokies are going to find shit to complain about regardless of if they changed China and A MAN. I know they toned down some of the outfits but I'm still running around looking like a hoe on Halloween, surely they would think the specials would cry about the male gaze than those two other things.

I think Asmon raised a good point though about the disconnect with the vocal minority about not feeling respected by the stripper outfits but when he looks at the player base of Lost Ark (even lump in ffxiv tbh) and New World and WoW, see which game has more women players and what their character dresses like.

If you remove the male gaze from KR MMOs, then it is no longer a KR MMO. You don't want to remove an important part of KR culture do you? Those specials are just racist white xirs trying to control Asian culture's need to have women who sway their hips in combat in every MMO they create.
