The fact that it has not worked for ten years is irrelevant to him; he feels it should work, so he will continue until it does. To him the fact that other people don't play along is malicious and, as he says in this video, "unfair". I think we all remember being little kids and either saying ourselves or seeing other kids say that something was "unfair" because they didn't get what they wanted. As always Lucas is the consummate man-baby.

Lucas seems to rely on describing himself as a comedian to function as a crutch to both stave off both accusations of impropriety (terrible behavior, terrible hot takes, and terrible words and actions) as well as self-soothe with the idea of popularity stemming from being a comedian. combined with other ego defenses, and how repetitive he uses those strategies, it makes me wonder exactly how limited his options are and how limited his future has become through actions he may not be able to control or consciously realize. that lack of control absolutely disturbs him enough to to visibly and aggressively work to remove, even if only the perception of loss of control of his life. because otherwise, as mentioned by many others, he really doesn't have anything going for him, not even a skill or talent to have fun with. just endless obsessions and coping.
